Soubhiville I LOVE this book! It‘s one of my favorite Discworld novels. I love the idea that even Death can get burned out and need a change of pace. I love his slow vacation time in a quiet town, farming among country folks. I love him dancing. There‘s a quote near the end about one‘s life not fading away as long as we‘re remembered. (I‘ll look it up and post later- my Discworld are in the bedroom and the Mr is still sleeping 😴) 5y

Aimeesue I adore DEATH. He's one of my favorite DW characters. This book in particular does a lovely job of placing him in contrast to people, which is one of the great things about sci-fi/fantasy - showing us what it means to be human. One of the reasons I love these books so much. (edited) 5y

khooliha I read this one out of step with the readathon on accident, and even a month later the Death stuff stands out way more than the Windle Poons part. I wish it were more about Bill Door - that's where the most interesting stuff is. 5y

Aimeesue @Soubhiville One of my favorite quotes as well. And that's the one that Pratchett fans clung to after Sir Terry's death - that he goes on as long as the electronic clacks (wwweb) exists and we keep mentioning his name. ❤️❤️❤️ (edited) 5y

Chrys I am finding that I only get into the Discworld books that feature either Death, Witches and/or Wizards. So this one was a pick for me whereas I had struggled with Guards Guards and Pyramids. I am adding the Death of Rats and the Death of Fleas to my list of favorites in Pratchett‘s works. 5y

Gezemice @khooliha I agree, Bill Door was the best part of the story. I did not mind Windle Poons and the bumbling wizards, but the shopping cart story was blah. 5y

hgrimes @khooliha I also could have done without the Windle Poons storyline. I just want Death all the time! 5y
