#LittensLoveRomance Ch.25-28: as Eleanor‘s home life grows increasingly tense, as she worries about being kicked out again, she starts to take refuge at Park‘s home and with his family, bit by bit. Park is starting to be less embarrassed by her actions and appearance as they get used to being with each other. It‘s sweet but I‘m feeling very off kilter thinking of what Ritchie is going to do next. I can‘t imagine living in that environment.

OriginalCyn620 Eleanor‘s situation is so horrible! IDK who I‘m more angry with - Ritchie for being a horrible husband and father or her mom for putting up with it. But at least she has one bright spot with Park. His sweetness is adorable! 14h

#LittensloveRomance Ch.21-24: well that was scary. Ritchie is so dangerous. And those cops were useless. I mean seriously useless. I was also sad about Park‘s mom‘s opinion of Eleanor. I was expecting better. I think Park was expecting better. He‘s learning some tough lessons as he navigates his relationship with Eleanor.

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.17-20: ah the joys of talking on the phone - that‘s a flash to the past for sure. Now if someone calls me I‘m like who died!? How do we feel about her dad? He seems like a flake. Like he‘s of no use to anyone - which sounds mean but he needs to take charge and make sure his kids are being taken care of. Ch.19 was an important chapter and Eleanor and Park each went out on a limb. ⬇️

StayCurious I was a bit surprised though that Park said I love you. Does it seem fast? Does first love always go by fast? Will he try to pretend he didn‘t say it? 3d

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.13-16: holding hands with your first real crush is the best. Rowell reminds us how this feels when you‘re young. Also, Why does Park need to learn a stick shift first? Because it‘s more manly? cringe. His dad seems like a jerk. But his home life is still a thousand times better than hers.

Read4life The progression of Eleanor & Park‘s relationship is so good. I learned to drive stick when my college roommate (from a very affluent suburban town) freaked out driving in Philly. 🙄 She literally burst into tears, pulled over, got out of the car & told me I had to drive us back to school. Between sobs she told me what I needed to do. Talk about nerve wracking. After that fiasco, I made her properly teach me. 4d

SarahBookInterrupted The hand holding is so sweet! And my mom made a deal when I was teenager. I could go to residency or live at home and she‘d get me a car. I opted for car and she bought me a stick shift and did the same thing. “It‘s something everyone should know.”It was super motivating and to be honest really came in handy throughout my life, when I‘d be called to drive the U-Hal because all they had is a stick or driving someone‘s sports car home for them, etc (edited) 4d

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.9-12: Honestly, not even having a toothbrush. I‘m sad for this girl and want to see good things happen for her. I like that Park is slowly opening up and sharing his comics and his music. That would make a world of difference to someone living like Eleanor.

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.5-8: poor Eleanor! To be shoved off to her mom‘s friend and then left there for like a year. That must have made her feel awful and unwanted. It‘s not right to feel like you have to make yourself invisible. But then at school people notice her for all the wrong reasons. I can‘t wait for Park to notice who she really is and appreciate her.

TheSpineView The biggest thing I took away from these chapters is how people are made to conform. If you don't fit a mold then you are judged, looked down on and it starts from an early age. People can't accept different and different insights fear. 7d

maich Poor Eleanor. She lived with mom's friends. And now she needs to babysit her brothers and sisters. She had a difficult childhood. I find it interesting that she reads his comics on the bus. 6d

Read4life I feel for Eleanor. Not only was she sent to live away from her family, but when she returned it seemed like her siblings had all accepted their situation & she was alone again. 6d

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.1-4: wow. Kids are mean. But we knew that already. I feel for Eleanor - seems as though she has a complicated home life. I feel leery of Ritchie. He‘s going to be trouble I think. How do we feel about the setting in the 80‘s? Were kids meaner back then or the same?

mcctrish We didn‘t have phones only the origami folded notes so I think meanness was lesser but it felt awful just the same ( just didn‘t live forever digitally) 1w

OriginalCyn620 I‘m so glad I was a teenager in the 80s before the internet was a thing! I think it‘s probably harder for kids now with all the technology…the bullying and stupid/bad decisions can live forever online. But as a teen in the 80s, I had a blast! And yes, the school bus seat situation was a very serious thing. I love books with 80s settings! 1w

LiseWorks As someone who was bullied from grade 7 to 9, thank God there was no internet in my day. So at least I had a break. I feel like Eleanor home life is difficult and starting at a new school is tough 1w

TheSpineView I remember the 80s. I was in college in the first part of the 80s. Kids are mean so are adults they just hide it better. Did anyone else caught the reference to the devil? Then the bus number is 666. Is this an omen? 1w

maich @TheSpineView I notice that too? 666? Scary! Kids are always mean. Even in kindergarten. My daughter was hit by a 5-year-old boy in kindergarten. He had a period came up to her hit her and left. This went on for 2 years. This year it finally ended. I have spoken to the teachers and his parents. Apparently he has some trauma but his parents refuse to help.It gets worse as children get older. Teenagers can be cruel. 1w

SarahBookInterrupted I love that it‘s set in the 80‘s! And I don‘t remember kids being that mean , but I grew up in Canada…there was bullying but not so obvious I think. I do remember how Park is feeling when I could see someone walking into the “fire” and hoping they knew what they were doing. Although I was definitely quicker to help than Park was. (edited) 1w

julieclair The 80s setting is fun… tape decks, walkmans (walkmen?), Impalas, feathered bangs. But the mean kids? Not fun at all. I did notice the 666 bus number, but I‘m not sure yet if it was an omen, or just a little bit of humor because the kids were so mean. 5d
