#doublespin this was a re-read for me & I stand by my original conclusion that this is a rare case of the tv show being better than the book. But, it was ok, and I will continue with the series!
4✨ This is one of those times I wish I knew it was a book first. The first season of the show was done very well based on the content of the book. So reading it after there was very few surprises. Dexter is a serial killer that takes out the individuals that make others lives miserable. When another serial killer starts killing ladies of the night. The methods the individual uses impresses Dexter. A very macabre story line. #Scarathlon #BatBrigade
Been under the weather the past couple days. Hot chocolate in one of my favorite mugs with a chilling book. 😷🤧🙂
Asked my husband for his definition of an anti hero for #volumesandvocals and after a very in depth monologue on whether Hans Solo would meet the criteria he picked Dexter. I‘m not convinced but he doesn‘t play along very often so I am sticking with it !
Finished my first #roll100 book and it was so good! I put this on my tbr nine years ago when I first watched the show. It‘s been long enough that I can only remember big details from the show, so I don‘t feel let down by either the book or show not living up to the other one. I feel the book gave more insight into Dexter than the show, which is great. Can‘t wait to read more! #serieslove2023 #ispybingo #hand #booked2023 #propernoun
If you are looking for a fast costume check out Dexter “Victims”. If you didn‘t know there was books this is the first one for the show. #ScarathonDailyPrompt #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick

One of my favorite shows ever so decided to try the book. It was fine, but would rather rewatch the series!
Dexter Morgan is my favorite fictional serial killer and believe me that list is pretty short. While I was disappointed in the finales for both series, I was not at all disappointed in this book. It‘s nice to read a story where you can visualize the characters and the setting. The first season l pretty much mirrors the book. The only difference is that one key character does not survive the story. #DarklyDreamingDexter #JeffLindsay
“Could that somebody possibly be Darkly Dreaming Dexter.”
Still reading. After watching that Dexter finale it‘s nice read a story that makes me smile. #dexter #darklydreamingdexter #jefflindsay
Still reading this and I love Dexter‘s inner monologue so much. #dexter #darklydreamingdexter
I bought this ebook many years ago when I first started watching Dexter, and I just started rewatching it and introducing it to my fiancé 😍 a couple months ago, so I decided to give the book a chance. It's pretty identical to the show for the first 75%, but with less character development & the ending was completely different. I prefer how the show wrote it as the book wrapped up too quickly without fully explaining what happened. 3.5 stars
I started reading this a few days ago. I played catch up on the new Dexter series and a familiar face popped up. That‘s the reason why I decided to crack this one open. I‘m a huge fan of the TV series and always wanted to read the novels. I‘m 35 pages into the story and it‘s good! #DarklyDreamingDexter #JeffLindsay
⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 I‘m reading this for a class I‘m taking, otherwise I wouldn‘t have picked it up. It was entertaining enough to read for a crime novel.
4/5⭐ Dexter is on the search for his serial killer soulmate. Will they join forces or will they turn against each other? Great story!

Dexter couldn't exist in his world if his #Truth was known, so Lies are how he keeps those around him safe.
I still need to finish reading this series. I've only read the first three.
Felt like revising Dexter since I‘m watching the show again. Definitely like show Dexter better than book Dexter.
Like a lot of people, I'm guessing, I came to this from the TV show, and it's great fun. Dexter Morgan is a sociopath with a need to kill who has more or less successfully managed to channel his murderous impulses into only killing those who pretty much deserve it, child killers in particular. The first-person narrative voice is sardonically humorous and beguiling, though the ending is a bit feeble.
Loved this book!! It is a fast read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved this book, the characters and the storyline. Its completely different from the TV show and I'm fascinated to see the differences. Love Dexter as a character, great to read him from another angle.
Feeling very Dexter after preparing the meat for my dinner tonight- liver, sausage and onion casserole with mash 😋🔪
I‘m starting this first novel on the most loved serial killer without having priorly watched the television series
Looking forward to getting into this series. Loved the tv series so hoping that i will enjoy the books just as much.
Much dark humor in this audiobook narrated by the author.
Watched the series so I read this first Dexter book. He may be as creepy in the book as he is on film. Great job casting the characters the way the author wrote them. Is it bad to root for Dexter? Not a fan of that last episode 🥴
#chillingphotochallenge @Clwojick #teamslaughter The Dexter books and TV Show are both pretty #bloody.
Dexter, Miami Police Department's blood spatter analyst is a serial killer in his free time. A series of homicides where the victims have been drained of every drop of blood sparks up his interest.
The first ¾ of the book was almost exactly like the TV show, but the ending was quite different. I'm intrigued!
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
"I‘m quite sure most people fake an awful lot of everyday human contact. I just fake all of it."
This is the only book set in #Miami that I‘ve read that I can think of. I want to try Carl Hiaasen‘s books soon. #songsofsummer
#jazzyjune @Eggs In this book about charming serial killer Dexter, the character Doakes has a #sneakysuspicion that something is not right with Dexter, and has no problem telling him so.
Say what you will, but this series flipped the script on anti-hero/serial killer narratives. Are we really rooting for him!? Are we really annoyed with Sgt. Doakes for being the only instinctually accurate detective!? Are we clapping our hands gleefully along with the Dark Passenger!? Yes. Yes, we are. I enjoyed this book‘s dark humor and sharp wit. While it‘s different from the show, I ain‘t bovvered.
“I'm not sure what I am. I just know there's something dark in me. I hide it. I certainly don't talk about it, but it's there always, this Dark Passenger. And when he's driving, I feel alive, half sick with the thrill of complete wrongness. I don't fight him, I don't want to. He's all I've got. Nothing else could love me.”

5-9-19: My 37th finished book of 2019! 📖#️⃣3️⃣7️⃣ #darklydreamingdexter #jefflindsey
I started the TV series first, decided to give the books a try. They're so different I still don't know if I like the book, one of the very few times I think the show may be better. Jeff Lindsay's descriptions of the moon always entertain me, he has an interesting way of writing, I like it just different than I've read before. Less gore and murder than I expected. 7 more books to determine my favorite , for now I will give it a 2.5⭐/5.
I fully admit to starting my first #MayMadness book a few hours early 😅🤷🏻♀️ But I needed something to listen to while I worked on my #BulletJournal.
I just finished the audiobook(3x the speed works every time) & I‘ve got to say that it surprised me a little. I‘ve never seen the show, so I was surprised to find how twisted the main character actually is. I just remember the commercials showing that cute guy 😂 Does anyone recommend the show?
1. I think I just did a search in the App Store - was so happy to come across it!
2. Midnight blue hair. I‘m very seriously considering it!
3. Meatloaf. My family never made it!
4. The Nanny, Sister Wives, Reality TV shows (some...and I rarely get to watch them!)
5. The book ‘Darkly Dreaming Dexter‘ + the fact that I tend to have odd dreams 🌚

(#2 in the series)
It is a horrific way to start off October. And I mean that in the most positive way.
The book is MUCH different than the show. And that isn‘t a bad thing! I didn‘t know what to expect. Dexter‘s relationship with his step children is very complex and has me dying for the next in the series. Five Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Morbidly hilarious crime fiction!!
I guess I'm in the minority on this one. If you're looking for a real page turner this is NOT it. Although some parts piqued my interest, for the most part it was boring dialogue. Recommended only for patient readers!
Overall Score 3.5/5.0
Might as well go with something a little different for today‘s prompt 🤷♀️ 🔪

Book two done for #24in48 and I've already started listening to the second. The really just curious to see where this goes compared to the TV series. So far, there's a LOT about it that's unlikable: annoying, repetative, convoluted, and like the author thinks his readers are just stupid. Dexter is not as charming or as clever as the show. Just *cringe*
Also, so far VERY different plot-wise from the show.
The first in the series! I bought one for me and one for my daughter! 👏🏼
You can see any they made a show out of this. It was interesting to go along as Dexter as he tried to understand a world of interaction that we know instinctively. My only complaint is that the ending doesn‘t feel resolved. It goes like it is, but it came off like I missed something. I am interested in reading the next one though.
