I did like this one, but not as much as the first four. However, the “mystery“ felt a lot more realistic to me. Was I the only one expecting something to happen with Fleagle?? I felt like Trixie and Honey were a little more scatterbrained in this one and found myself puzzled as to why everything with using the ring for security was such a big secret. I was also confused by things like “we have no temporary place to put our gear“... I'm sorry, ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) don't two of you LIVE IN A MANSION?! 😂

But setting aside some eye rolling moments, I did still enjoy this one. As some have pointed out, there is definitely some dated language and terms that are now considered offensive, but I did still feel like overall the conversations and interactions between friends and siblings felt realistic. I always love how Mart and Trixie end up being a team even when they don't want to be 😆 Truly, sibling⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) energy!! 😂

So overall, a soft pick for this one from me, but still an enjoyable and entertaining read. It was kind of nice to have a low-stakes adventure.

Side note, this cover of them walking in the rain near downed power lines is very stressful to me!!!! 😳

Can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts!!!

Read4life I agree with everything you said! I think the joking and sibling banter while having the “I‘ve always got your back” vibe is very realistic. Also not my favorite so far but still a good read. I was wondering where they stored their equipment before they got the clubhouse. Clearly they had someplace so it could have gone back there. Small things. 2mo

I have my starter pile for the #ForTheLoveofBooks readathon this weekend. I've been trying to take one day a week as a break from social media (currently Fridays) so I am posting a day early. Planning to finish the tagged book for #BobWhiteBuddies and Paddy's for #Roll100 . The Midnight Witness is my August book for (unofficial) #LMPBC . And of course at least one more Amelia Peabody book, maybe more 😂 Thanks for hosting @TheSpineView !!!

TheSpineView You're welcome! Enjoy!💜📖 2mo
bookandbedandtea Yay for you taking a weekly day off from social media! I think I'll start doing that too! 2mo
TheAromaofBooks @bookandbedandtea - I've been experimenting with different ways to cut screen time a little, so I'm trying to make Fridays be a day where I don't use the internet for “fun“ stuff like social media or playing Stardew Valley. Last week was my first time, and I was genuinely surprised at how often I went to pick up my phone and just scroll IG or Litsy for “a minute“ of down time. If nothing else, a good act of self-awareness!! 2mo

I forgot to post about Trixie last month, but I thought book 4 was pretty good. I can't quite say the same for book 5. I'm honestly surprised they didn't edit the language for this 2009 edition. How many times did Brian and Mart call Trixie a lazy sq***? Too many! The mystery wasn't especially great (or existent?) in this one either.

Tonight I‘ll be reading the tagged book for #BobWhiteBuddies
I‘ll definitely have coffee and will either be on my back porch or inside my recliner.

When the Bobwhites need to repair their clubhouse & Brian wants to buy his own car (for $50! 🤣), the club comes together to work as gamekeepers for Honey‘s father. Only, there might be a poacher in the woods.

Funny as usual! & a much lower stakes mystery. I really love all the friendships, although this was more Trixie, Honey, & Mart‘s story. Lots of secrets & mysteries to untangle, but a lot of usage of a slur for indigenous women. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLive2024

Finished last night for #BobWhiteBuddies this is a pick in terms of story about a potential poacher on the Wheeler property & I enjoyed the humor in “boy crazy” Trixie but I did forget about the dated gender roles & all the times a derogatory racist term for Native American women appear in this one. It was originally published in 1950 but it still made me wince (A LOT). 😵‍💫

Using this for today‘s #AboutABook ⬇️

DebinHawaii …prompt #YouFinishedIn1Day as these books are quick reads & I started & finished last night. 3mo

TheAromaofBooks Haven't (re)read this one yet, so I'm interested to see how it goes. I feel like the racist term may be employed in multiple books though 😬 3mo

#HyggeHourReadathon

Spending g time with Trixie & the Bob Whites for #BobWhiteBuddies during tonight‘s #HyggeHour

I *needed* some chocolate tonight & the background is the new sleep shirt I picked up at Ross. Sunflowers make me happy & it‘s super soft.

My mood is mellow & a little tired. This week I have to prep for a board meeting in Maui on Friday & I‘m feeling a bit nervous about it. 😳😬

CSeydel Love the shirt! 3mo
AllDebooks The shirt is stunning 😍 3mo
TheAromaofBooks Yay!! I hope you had a very relaxing evening!!! I just finished this month's Nancy Drew, so I'm hoping to pick up Trixie this week!! 3mo

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and a big part of this story. It‘s likely why this book is one of my favorites of the Trixie Belden series. 🦃 🤎

It's probably not very exciting that a majority of my current read photos are clearly taken as I'm about to start reading them in bed, huh? 😆
