Attraverso i vari personaggi della storia (positivi e no) vengono incarnati qualit o difetti soggettivi.

#AlphabetGame #letterJ

I never realized how hard it was to find a book I‘ve read that starts with J! I settled on this classic Kipling which I first read a long time ago & loved(not to mention the Disney movie🐻🦍🐆)Then I read it to my children and now my grandchildren. A book that deserves the title Classic.

#MayMoms - Memorable: This is Raksha, Mowgli‘s wolf mom. She raises him in the jungle. She calls him one of her own. She claims him sibling to her cubs. She exhibits the greatest wisdom in not differentiating between them. The same love. The same loyalty. The same devotion. The same protection. The same kindness. The same generosity. The same everything. She sees herself as his mother. She sees him as her cub. She sees them together as family.

BookDragonNotWorm I love this! I was obsessed with the movie as a kid (I was jealous). Still was when I read Kipling's stories when I got older. 😁 3y

Kayla.Adriena Good one! I love the line Lupita says in the movie, "You are mine to me." ??? 3y
Nute @BookDragonNotWorm I totally get it. I think that I had a mild obsession too! However, mine was with the soundtrack from the old Disney film.🤗 3y

Nute @Kayla.Adriena Yes! Powerful scene. “Mine to me. No matter where you go or what they may call you.” Thanks for bringing those words back to me!☺️ 3y

This book was… fine? Going in, I didn‘t realize that 1.) it was short stories and 2.) there are two Jungle Book volumes. I just read the first because I felt like one was enough. The stories that feature Mowgli were definitely the most developed. I‘ve never actually seen the animated version of The Jungle Book and now I feel like I have to!

My second #roll100 for April

The writing style was inaccessible & overly formal/stylized. A short adventure story for children that seems to dense for the intended audience. There is a choppy nature to the plot (a series of short stories) that leaves large gaps. I would have preferred a more full & sweeping story. There is a lot that is good about the premise, the characters, & the character interactions, but things were ultimately flat & underwhelming.

I enjoyed the Mowgli stories and Rikki Tikki Tavi, but I skimmed through the seal, elephant, and camp stories. They didn‘t hold my interest. The author certainly anthropomorphizes the animals (like referring to the snake couple as husband and wife...okay, sure).

I read some of this, and I listened to some of it. I enjoyed the stories about Mowgli the most, since The Jungle Book is one of my two favorite Disney movies. I liked the other stories as well.

The demands made by a work of this nature upon the generosity of specialists are very numerous, and the Editor would be wanting in all title to the generous treatment he has received were he not willing to make the fullest possible acknowledgment of his indebtedness.

I finished the last story this morning with a cup of coffee to keep me company. And I‘m not really impressed. The Jungle Book movie (both Disney and the newer one) was definitely better than the original, and the other stories felt almost point less. But still, it kept me reading, without really knowing why. Pretty edition, though 👍

I didn't know it was a collection of short stories. I enjoyed the Mowgli stories and Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, but the other ones not so much.

What a sweet message to the original owner from the grandparents. ❤ I hope Scott was able to read this book to his little brother before he gave it away. 🤗
#messageinabook #secondhandbook #prelove

[DELETED] 3803335244 This always saddens me a bit in used books. When you see a thoughtful message from a parent or grandparent & the book is given away. I bought a Christmas book last year that had such an endearing message to a grandson plus the book was signed by a religious leader. I was sad that it was in a .25 cent used book pile. 😟😔 7y
litznbooks I agree w/ u, @ForeverNerdy . Personally, even if the book is a duplicate copy, I will still treasure the gift esp if it has a sweet message inside. It is the thought that counts. 😊 7y

After re-reading "Jungle Book" I still did not enjoy it. It's a book for children but as a child I did not enjoy it that much so I decided to put it off for x number of years. I guess a boy who grew up with wolves, bears and panthers just does not sit well with me but I did love the Disney movie. Maybe I'm just not a jungle girl and the Rules of the Jungle does not apply to me ;p.
