From the #1 New York Times bestselling author known for her superb pacing, twisted characters, and captivating prose (BuzzFeed), Lisa Jewell returns with a scintillating new psychological thriller about a woman who finds herself the subject of her own popular true crime podcast. Celebrating her forty-fifth birthday at her local pub, popular podcaster Alix Summers crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Josie, it turns out, is also celebrating her forty-fifth birthday. They are, in fact, birthday twins. A few days later, Alix and Josie bump into each other again, this time outside Alixs childrens school. Josie has been listening to Alixs podcasts and thinks she might be an interesting subject for her series. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life. Josies life appears to be strange and complicated, and although Alix finds her unsettling, she cant quite resist the temptation to keep making the podcast. Slowly she starts to realise that Josie has been hiding some very dark secrets, and before she knows it, Josie has inveigled her way into Alixs lifeand into her home. But, as quickly as she arrived, Josie disappears. Only then does Alix discover that Josie has left a terrible and terrifying legacy in her wake, and that Alix has become the subject of her own true crime podcast, with her life and her familys lives under mortal threat. Who is Josie Fair? And what has she done?

A quick, plot-drive adventure with some dark twists. My first Lisa Jewell, but it won‘t be my last. What should my next one be?

A dark, twisty thriller I was down the rabbit hole of this psychological read Lisa Jewel 's writing hooked me in fast and didn't let go until the very end.The unease and tension crept up on me in the best of ways, there were some warning signs along the way which just added to the tingles I was getting whilst reading this book. A haunting, atmospheric read that was everything I could ever want in a thriller.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Some really good twists. Solidly kept my interest all the way through. I really liked the story and the mixed media format. Characters were super interesting and I definitely was left wondering at the end. Love this author. I think I just loved some of her other stuff more which is why it wasn‘t 5 stars for me. But, still very good and would highly recommend.

CozyBookworm What other books of hers would you recommend? This one was my first and I really enjoyed it. Definitely want to read more of her work! 4w
Victoriahoperose @CozyBookworm I really liked then she was gone a lot and one that doesn‘t get a lot of attention is the house we grew up in. Not the same as her other stuff but still really good. 4w

What a belter! Does what it says in the title really. The question of truth pervades the whole story. Is it true that when we talk to each other about events we‘re presenting our own version of the truth? I could philosophise for hours about this. When it‘s six different versions of the truth, then who do you believe? Wonderfully gripping.

So I‘m halfway through this book by Lisa Jewell and I realise that should be a warning about driving while listening to such a gut wrenching story. It‘s so marvellously done.

My hair stylist gave this to me last time I was in, and I thought, this isn't my kind of book at all, so I put it on a pile and pulled it out yesterday because I see her tomorrow. Reader, let me tell you, I flew through this! Everyone is horrible! I have very mixed feelings about the grooming aspect of this book, but I devoured it.
Excited to talk to my lady tomorrow!
It for sure isn't literature but I liked the mixed formatting - pod elements ect

TheLudicReader If you‘re looking for a page turner, I find Lisa Jewell pretty dependable. 4mo

A pretty wild ride! I listened to this one and highly recommend the audiobook. The main character is a podcaster and there are several podcast interviews and news reels that are really well produced with multiple voices. There‘s lots of dialogue and conversation, so it made it easier to define the characters. A compelling, twisty thriller.

This book takes you on a wild ride that takes on a documentary/podcast format for part of it. Alix meets her birthday twin out one night never knowing what domino effect this sets off into one crazy story as she interviews her twin about her life for a podcast! I finished this in 2 days and just had to see how it ended. Great story but the ending was a bit lackluster. Still a high pick though!

This book had me saying “OMG” multiple times while reading it. Just when you‘ve got it figured out, you definitely do NOT. My only qualm is with the ending, although I suppose it definitely leaves you wondering “What is actually the truth here”. I read this so fast. I just had to figure out what was going on. A quick read with lots of cringes and twists.

Bec_lectic Agree with the ending! 😒 just wanted a little bit more clarity lol 5mo

Woah! Now this is a thriller that keeps you moving right along dying to find out what is going on! I listened to the audiobook which was extremely well produced and entertaining all the way through.

There are so many twists and turns that flow like water. This author can write a page turner. I loved every second of it except one little thing, which brought it down to a 4 star instead of 5. The ending.

Other than that a solid thriller!

This book got me on a bit of a thriller kick recently. A dissatisfied woman befriends a podcaster who she hopes will chronicle her plans to change her life. But how exactly does she plan to do that? And does Alix really know this woman she's welcomed into her life and home? A deeply unsettling psychological story where you're never entirely certain what is true and who is lying.

There are books that translate well to #audiobook formatting, and then there are books that translate PHENOMENALLY to audiobook formatting. This one falls solidly into the latter category! In fact, I'd wager that in this instance the audiobook is even better than the print copy. The narration and sound editing are fire and make it seem like you're really listening to a podcast. Amazing audio concept for this remarkably entertaining story! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Jewell always manages to hook me in. While the ending made this one a soft pick for me, the pacing was great. I appreciated that Alix's ignoring of major red flags felt like a natural progression here - she's just too far into the story to back down now. I like my fiction tied with a bow, so some of the ambiguity at the end annoyed me (plus one major plot point wasn't how I would have gone so), but overall I couldn't stop turning pages.

TheAromaofBooks @vlwelser - Oh what a fun idea, to all read the same book. Gives you something to talk about at work 😂 She's a great author for that. I feel like she creates situations for her characters that really leave you wondering what you would do if you were in that position - bad choices are made, but they feel like reasonable bad choices. 7mo
vlwelser All of the bad choices. Who knew there could be SO many. I swear my intern spent that entire book gasping and swearing at it in Spanish. We often pass a book around. This was the first time it was a library book. I highly recommend it if you end up with a group of readers you spend a lot of time with. 7mo

1️⃣3️⃣ chilled mornings on annual leave, I went to a Lisa Jewellery event earlier this year and heard her talk about this book, hooked on it already! - Loved this all the way though but felt like the ending let it down a little. Still a great read but I was expecting more, perhaps I am becoming immune to psychological thrillers 😂

A nice palate cleanser between all the nonfiction and memoirs I‘ve been reading recently. This is the hardback, but I mostly listened to the audio addition which is the way to go. A trademark Lisa Jewell domestic story:
Who is lying? What are the motivations?
But this time, it‘s packaged as a podcast-turned Netflix docuseries. An entertaining read.

This is exactly as the title describes. I didn't read the summary before I started so I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I loved it! A wonderful suspense novel! I HIGHLY encourage that you listen to this book instead of read it because it's recorded like a true crime podcast and it makes it more real.

I really liked this book. It was super fast-paced and had a very eerie vibe of kind of knowing what's going on but still not really knowing what's going on. I do think the ending got a little muddled, though. Also, I wish the book wasn't named this because I think it took away from the story and gave stuff away. 4/5

I inhaled this (just as I have every other Jewell book I‘ve read🤷🏻‍♀️). Admittedly, while it‘s twisty, many of the twists are predictable (the title seems like…a choice) but in terms of popcorn fast reads, this author is top class.

Will be gifting this in a swap for my Book Club on Sunday. Off to start our pick (with less than a week to spare 😆🥳🤯💪🏻).

8-9 Mar 24 (audiobook)
A thriller that starts as a chance meeting of birthday twins: Alix, a journalist living an instagrammable life with her successful yet troubled husband; and Josie whose life has been ruined as a result of her traumatic upbringing and abusive marriage. As Josie becomes the subject of Alix‘s new podcast, it is clear (from the title of nothing else) that all is not as it seems. Tense and gripping until the inevitable end.

1) Work is ramping up (tax season) so that will be most days and I need to make it to the post office.
2) a teacher because I loved school.
3) Road trip north to Victoria BC, east to Glacier National Park, south to Yellowstone, west to home.
4) Need to finish as I want to know what happens but spending time with these characters is 😬

I'm still wondering if anything I read was true. This kept me on the edge of my seat. The suspense kept building page after page.

I gave this 4⭐ because I figured out the ending. Plus, Josie got on my nerves and I just didn't think some of what Jewell wrote was quite believable. Overall though, it was a good thriller with twists.

Thanks to @CBee for recommending a thriller as a slump buster. Listening to None of this is True while doing other tasks. Although I don‘t really like any of the characters and my spidey sense thinks it‘s going in a direction I‘m going to hate, it is keeping my attention.

I have read quite a few Lisa Jewell novels, and I will likely read many more. They are well written, and she always gives good insight into the minds of her characters. This one is quite an elaborate story. It kept my interest and kept me guessing. It isn't one that's probably going to stick with me, but it was a worthy passing of time.
