Although I have read a couple of Carter books I only now realized how young she was when she passed away. 51! Also, I was unaware of the planned Jane Eyre sequel.

Recommitted to reading this, because what better time when you have the excuse of "the baby's developed ears and can hear your voice" to read a fairy tale a day ?????
"But it is so, and it was so. Here's hand and ring I have to show." - from Mr. Fox, chapter Brave, Bold, and Wilful.
Beautiful presentation of fairytales with a fantastic introductory essay by Angela Carter
The tagged book is the last to finish from April's #thingsincommon challenge Thanks for hosting @Clwojick twas fun 😃❤️
My planned list for May's #bookspinbingo challenge. This time I have some serious chunksters so spread them over a few selections. 500+ pages over 2 choices, 800+ pages over 3 choices. Hope that makes sense @TheAromaofBooks
Slowly making my way through this book, a few stories here and there.
A great collection of diverse fairy tales. Trust Angela Carter to find some of the strangest tales out there and publish them without editing out the "less appropriate" moments! I've read some really really bizarre fairy tales in this book!

Square 19 ✔️
Like fairy tales weren't strange enough, leave it to Angela Carter to find the strangest ones out there! 😂
Books, tea, chocolate peanut butter mug cake. There's my afternoon. ❤️❤️❤️

I still need to read this...!
Just adding this to my TBR.... I love all the new Fairy Tales and retellings I am learning about. #happilyeverafterswap
Because happily ever after is a kind of #forever.

#CoolBooks #FairytaleEdition #day2 #Tale This isn‘t a book of children‘s fairytales. Well, it was until we started censoring fairytales & making them sugar sweet, instead of the morals tales they were meant to be. I much prefer the darker versions, I remember reading the Russian Baba Yaga tale when I was a kid, gave me nightmares of witches riding in mortars & pestles for ages, but it‘s stuck with me for almost 40yrs. Give me realism any day.
I love a good, dark, feminist or original #fairytale 📚👌

#MarchInBooks day 2 #fairytales
I‘m a feminist and I love stories where women save them selves. Yesterday I posted an article about how patriarchy has stolen women‘s roles in fairy tales. If anyone is going to restore them, it‘s Angela Carter. These fairy tales are gross, hilarious and show how fairy tales were before Disney got their hands on them. Women are heroines, the villain, or both and take central roles in these weird stories. Read it!
7 days 7 book covers. Post a book cover you love. No explanation, no information on the book. Just a book cover you love.

Ok, I need to stop going into secondhand shops and checking out their books...I just couldn't resist this beautiful hardback for Q9 today! ✋? ?♂️ ? #bookbuyingbanfail
So so pretty ! This is my favourite cover of a book I have bought recently ! #bestcover #JingleShelves
In other #BookMail today, I received the replacement copy of this gorgeous hardcover, full of illustrated fairy tales. It‘s so pretty! Thank you again @Simona I absolutely love it 😍 The flash cards they sent by mistake will be gifted in your name to my 3yr old grandson this Xmas.😘❤️😘❤️😘❤️ #LittensAreTheBestPeople #PayItForward
This should be interesting. Different fairy tales from all over the world
Unlike zombie books...I have TONS of books about fables and folklore (which I originally read as fairies and folklore, but I think this still works). Instead of piling a bunch together and/or trying to decide which ones to include, I just grabbed the one newest to my collection. It's gorgeous! #fablesandfolklore #uncannyoctober
All the ladies, girls, crones, aunts, mothers, sisters in this book are #independentwomen 👯 I loved this collection of fairytales where the focus was on the strong women or girls instead of the damsel in distress 💪
#AugustGrrrl
A stack of female authors I would love to be #girlfriends with. Couldn't you just imagine the kind of talks that could be had with these women over a dinner and wine 🍷🍷

#Riotgrams Day 1: #Shelfie - I have co-opted a lot of bookshelves around the house, but that bottom one is my favourite
So far the favorite from my #bookbin of goodies today is completely the fault of @TheLondonBookworm - and I love ya for it! It's gorgeous 💕
I can't put it down to open the other packages 🤣
As I am rediscovering all my Angela Carter books today I thought I would share this gorgeous book of her fairy tales. If you haven't read them I really suggest you do, In my opinion they are WAY more interesting than the Grimm versions :) Happy Reading Littens 🖤
After weeks of waiting, I finally got my book fairy wings. 😍 #ibelieveinbookfairies #bookfairiesworldwide
This beauty finally arrived in the mail today.
Please recommend your favorite fairy tale collections and/or retellings!
I'm loving this collection so far: Carter has such a wonderful and unique style. Also, the cover and illustrations are so beautiful. #nevertoooldforapicturebook #carter #fairytales
I love Angela Carter, and I haven't read close to everything she has written yet. But these Fairy Tales are just wow. I like to read a couple of stories once in a while, because they bring a little magic everytime. And we all need a little bit of magic on Mondays, so thank you @I-read-and-eat for making November's Mondays a little more magical with your lovely prompts 👏

For most of human history, 'literature,' both fiction and poetry, has been narrated, not written — heard, not read. So fairy tales, folk tales, stories from the oral tradition, are all of them the most vital connection we have with the imaginations of the ordinary men and women whose labor created our world. - Angela Carter

When you get snail mail from a beloved who knows what your heart is made of, and sends you the perfect book to feed it.
Angela Carter is a brilliant writer- and as a lover of fairy tales already (wrote my dissertation on them!) reading her take on them is a delight. Can't recommend highly enough!! 😊❤️❤️
