This is my favorite read of the year so far. I LOVED this book. Everything about it. The characters, how they were developed. How their love story unfolded. The ending. The conflicts were realistic and kept me reading. I simply loved it. 🙌❤️🔥
Ashley Herring Blake has written an exquisite narrative filled with nuance that showcases both the intricacies of relationships and personal growth. Delilah‘s journey is tender and relatable, complete with moments of vulnerability and strength. Her chemistry with Claire is palpable, and Blake‘s depiction of the relationship evolving is authentic and layered...

I‘ve been feeling so burnt out recently and this sweet life affirming sapphic romance was a really comforting and lovely read. I liked the romance but I think I liked the story of making peace with yourself and your family even more. Bright Falls is a wonderful little town to fantasise about living in, which is something I always need from a romance. I‘m definitely going to finish this series.
Pride Night at a soccer game! 🩷💜💙 Hi guys, I‘m back!!

This is the first thing I‘ve ever read/listened to by the author. I enjoyed the story & the different themes throughout. How some relationships can endure while others can be be found years later. How grief can impact how we view others & others view us. Co-parenting & life with pre-teens. Learning to trust & build a relationship after lots of past disappointments. Definitely want to listen to the next book to learn more about Astrid. #bookspin
I skim read this which is probably how I got through it. There were too many things competing for attention and not all of them are resolved satisfactorily.
I enjoyed the characters and their relationships. I wish that had been explored a bit more. The romance was luke warm at best. I liked both characters, I would have liked it more if they focused on coming together as a family.
God, this was good. Claire and Delilah's connection is wonderful, and I really appreciated that Delilah and Astrid's backstory was complex without either one of them actually being a bully or a villain. Lots of growth and healing and love and heat! I have GOT to get Astrid's book into my life now. #contemporaryromance
Going in, I already knew that Ashley Herring Blake was skilled when it comes to creating tender, vulnerable characters. In fact, I was thisclose to putting her middle grade novel, Ivy Aberdeen‘s Letter to the World, on your #AuldLangSpine list, @JamieArc ! I was eager to see how she‘d fare writing for an adult audience. Quite well, it turns out! The same characterization skills are on display but with adult themes and the steam cranked up! 👇🏻
Having a perfect, lazy Sunday. 💜

“By the time the four of them had showered and gathered again for dinner on the veranda overlooking the vineyard, Delilah was exhausted. Being around other people all day long, even if they hadn‘t talked all that much, was completely draining.”
Oh, hi, fellow introvert! Nice to not really meet you! 😅

This was so sweet. The character‘s internal perspectives are well thought out without wallowing in it. Made all of the push &pull seem entirely reasonable when the motivations were so well established. A lot of heart.
It's so hard to narrow down favorite reads for 2022, but I think my "read what I want, when I'm in the mood for it" vibe served me well (I get anxious about "challenges" and lists of books I *have* to read). These are the ones that jumped out at me scrolling through the list, in no particular order.
PS: I also think my personal title for this series would be "Ashley McMillan Doesn't Sleep". If Blake could write my HEA next that'd be great ?
WHEW! I crossed the finish line by the skin of my teeth! Never have I ever cut it so close 😴
HOLY SMOKESHOW, I'm absolutely gobsmacked by this book! Every single page, sentence, hell LETTER, was absolute perfection, and the moment I finished I wanted to go back to the beginning and start over. So steamy and sexy and all of those things but also UGH at the absolutely phenomenally well done characters and their wonderful, flawed personalities and dynamics. I can't remember the last time I stayed up ALL NIGHT reading, but it was worth it! 😍
Where‘s my sapphic romance like this one?! I‘m feeling left out of the sapphic love here! 10/10 this book is something beautiful.
This was so good! Delilah reluctantly visits her hometown to photograph her stepsister's wedding, but they have never gotten along and she is determined to annoy the bride as much as possible. Enter Claire, one of her sister's best friends, who is flirty and cute and super off limits for unattached Delilah. There is so much emotion behind these characters and family dynamics to unpack. Such a captivating story if you love all the feels 💕
4.5/5
Delilah Green's family situation is complicated, but she can't refuse the money she'll get for photographing her stepsister's wedding. But once she returns home she starts to see a different side of the people and place she escaped from.
Most of the characters in this Sapphic romance behave badly. Humor and photography kept me reading. Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#delilah-green-doesnt-care
I loved this romance novel. Funny, sweet, emotional and sexy. Can‘t wait for the next book in this series coming out this November.
Thank goodness I had a good audiobook when I found this surprise at work
Read this on my recent holiday and loved it. A brilliant and funny romcom.
Can't believe I waited so long to read this book! It's a grumpy / sunshine romance for the win with a side of sibling feels. Delilah returns to her childhood home to photograph her estranged stepsister wedding, expecting to hate every second of it. Then she meets single mom , Claire, and suddenly this trip home gets a lot more fun. I think the best indication of how much I loved this book is that I immediately requested the sequel on Netgalley.
Loving Delilah Green Doesn‘t Care! The synopsis doesn‘t give it enough credit; it‘s funny, heartfelt, and the plot is more complex than I thought it was going to be. There‘s so many little things in motion, I can‘t read fast enough😅📖 #junetbr #currentlyreading
Got some new books today when I was browsing; I really only wanted to pick up Hidden Pictures and Delilah Green Doesn‘t Care, but that buy one get one got me😅 and I‘ve also had my eye on Persephone Station for about 2 years now, so I decided why not🙌🏼📚 #JuneTBR #BNhaul #currentreads
Hmm, I really liked aspects of this book, others not so much. Most if that characters were difficult to root for, a couple weee downright awful. The writing was solid and I loved the queer rep and photography/art bits. It was a so-so for me but I would read another of her books. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #pride
I found Delilah immature, petty, and mean and the other characters alternately flat or also mean. I don't feel any chemistry between Claire and Delilah and the dialogue and exposition are boring and repetitive. Blake's books for kids that I've read are thoughtful, nuanced, and emotional and this book is just not that. I don't see what other people see!! Ashley Herring Blake can do a lot better than this, what happened??
Friends I need help. I am 120 pages into this book and I am seriously considering DNFing. No one is more surprised or disappointed than me. I loved a couple of Blake's queer middle grade books and this book is so popular. But so far I find Delilah immature, petty, and mean and the other characters alternately flat or also mean? I don't have a good feel for the characters' chemistry and I find the dialogue and exposition boring and repetitive. ??
I've been looking forward to this sapphic romance for so long I'm worried now that I've overhyped it in my brain. Here I go!

Oh my god YES. Sexy and funny and so, so lovely. A perfect romcom filled with swooning and growing and learning and of course, a lot of loving.
I'm always a bit hesitant to review romances. It's just not a genre I read much of generally. This one had its tropes but was fun to read, and there were some nice, steamy scenes. I wish more time was allotted to unpack the Astrid/Delilah story with its complexities.
I confess this book starts with one of my least favorite opening types (character is in bed with someone they can't remember the name of and pondering their life) so that may have contributed to it feeling like it took a while to get going, but these two folks who have been so burned by life just unable to not fall in love with each other was good stuff.
Delilah Green Doesn‘t Care and neither do I (for this book). This was a book club read otherwise I would have abandoned it. LGBTQ+ romance book. It gets less unbearable in the last few chapters. Main reason why I dislike the book: Every character in the book: the girl orphaned at 10 and raised by her aloof stepmother is so weird and awkward! Also every character in the book: She couldn‘t possibly have changed by age 30!
I binged so much of this last night holy shit
Some good steamy scenes, but the story was a bit lackluster for me.
Delilah agrees to photograph her estranged step sister‘s wedding and wedding week festivities, only to find out her sister is about to marry a man who sucks, their relationship may be more complicated than she knew oh and also, her sisters best friend is hot and single. more serious and emotional in some parts than anticipated when discussing her childhood and her love interest‘s hardships as a single parent but still loved it, 10/10
What a delight to finish a book you adore and discover that it is the first in a series! November 22 can‘t get here fast enough!!
