Y'all think this is a fiction idea but it ain't
Very entertaining. I love the artistic style, and the humor was perfect. I've never read Scott Pilgrim (though the movie is amazing), but this makes me want to.
This was a really enjoyable graphic novel by the guy that did the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really liked this, it was very well paced, plot-driven, dark and mysterious.
Usually when I finish a graphic novel, it's rare for me to think I'd read it again; but I'd re-read this again some day because it was a pleasure.

While I have enjoyed graphic novels recently, this one was hard to follow at times. The mc kept wishing for different things, and it kept happening. Each time she was lot as to where her life was.
I did enjoy the end message that we should be content with our lives, and not wish to change it.

So I know this was not on my list for this week, but it came in as a library hold and I couldn't resist.
I‘m convinced that Bryan Lee O‘Malley will never write anything I give less than five stars ✨
I bought this book in 2015 - after I‘d had a bit of a knife accident in the kitchen - only now in 2020 when I‘ve actually gotten around to reading Seconds - do I see that this was actually a hilarious book to have bought (unintentionally) during that time! Great graphic novel, enjoyed it, probably didn‘t need to leave it on my shelf for nearly 5 years (ahh! It‘s depressing to know that it‘s been that long and to still be going to hand therapy!)
Seconds is a graphic novel that follows chef Katie as she starts a new restaurant. Her life takes a sudden turn when she finds mysterious mushrooms in her wardrobe with a notebook and instructions. She soon realizes the power of these mushrooms and takes advantage of them, resulting in a major conflict.
This graphic novel is beautifully illustrated with an extremely well developed plot, ensuring an entertaining and memorable book.
I‘m going to get my graphic-novel loving self in trouble here by admitting I‘m not a Scott Pilgrim fan. I‘ve tried, but neither the books nor the movie are for me. I didn‘t know this was by that author, or I might not have picked it. But this is adorable & charming & a little dark - it just has a great vibe. I like the art, but I think it‘s more that this is a much more appealing protagonist for me. Also, magic mushrooms.
A biased review, having massively enjoyed Scott pilgrim before this. Well drawn as always, interesting, original story but not quite as funny as the pilgrim books. Worth picking up for the artwork alone.
What do you do when #TheEnemy is you getting in your own way? This was such a great read all about that.

#ReadHarder2018: a comic written and drawn by the same person. One of my favorite things about this challenge is how it encourages me to tackle the dusty corners of my TBR backlog; this book has sat on my shelf unread for four years, but no longer. 🎉 Sometimes all you need is a little nudge!
#OctoberXFiles Day 14: This is a story of 29yo Katie who opened a restaurant with her friends named Seconds. Accdg to Fats‘ review: “The story became more complicated when Katie encountered a house spirit (#Ghosts!) named Lis. Seconds offers an interesting look at one person‘s desire to make her life perfect. While being absolutely adorable and hilarious, the book offers emotional truths about regret and acceptance. Review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-ayf
Cute and charming art that goes pretty weird/dark towards the end. Cool story about a house spirit in a restaurant. The main character, Katie, seems like a dope lol but she learns her lesson.
There just isn‘t enough books about house spirits! Lis would probably be friends with the brownie from the Spiderwick chronicles. Also graphic novels are super underrated in the circles I frequent, lit wise. It‘s all about the art style for me and I reeeally dig this art style. Feels like the perfect combo of cute and badass. Guess I should read Scott Pilgrim in the future 😅
((Bc I really I identify with hazel)) I got this book on my way home from Indiana. Read it entirely on the bus ride back up to MN, I‘m in love with the style - I should prolly read Scott Pilgrim. I‘m reading it again to destress after I spent 7 hours packing for my 5 MONTH STUDY ABROAD TRIP TO GABORNE, BOTSWANA.

I. Love. This. Book. This is the very first page. Seconds is a charming story and every single turn of the page brought a smile to my face. I think I might even like this more than Scott Pilgrim. 👌
Also...it smells really good. Everytime I open it I have to give it a sniff. 🤗

Katie is a young successful chef with a popular restaurant and plans to open up another. But her personal and professional lives are sent awry and she is left floundering until a mysterious girl offers her a chance to erase her mistakes with some magic mushrooms. And just like that, her life is good again. But she realizes that her do-overs have some unintended consequences. Expressive art, unique paneling & nice colors. 🍄🍄🍄🍄
I borrowed this from a friend who‘s moving to Portland in a couple of days, so I decided to read it all in one night. You know...so I can return it and not because it‘s SUPER GOOD. (But it is...super good.)
Defiantly one of my favorites from this year 😊 would recommend. A really fast read with like-able characters and a story I'm sure we could all relate to #comics #graphicnovel #seconds #goodreads
I saved this book to savor it, and I'm so glad! Katie is such a relatable character, and I really liked her friendship with Hazel. I loved that the author thought to make a supernatural character that doesn't act like a human, and the art is perfect. A couple of little things about Katie I don't love, but overall SO GOOD.
this book is good, dark, hilarious and tender. definitely a favorite and a great first to read if you're just getting into graphic novels
My first order from book outlet arrived yesterday. I ordered five books and I am so happy. Also it only took a month to get to me instead of two or three. Very exciting.
I'm on a roll with these graphic novels! This was one had more of a magical component than I normally read, but I still enjoyed it. Katie is a chef in her 20s who has made some mistakes along the way. A house spirit gives her a magic mushroom that gives her a chance to change her past but she is soon addicted to repeating her days. The book becomes all about sliding doors as the number of changes spin out of control. Quirky and delightful.
I'm quite enjoying diving into the world of graphic novels. I'm not terribly interested in manga/fantasy/super hero stuff, but am really enjoying some of the memoirs and other fictional stuff I've been reading. Started this one tonight after finding it at the library.
This was so cute. It gets dark, even a little scary, in the middle but was still very charming, and rather relatable. I loved the art.

This book was amazeballs. I loved the story (I'm a sucker for both restaurants and fairy lore/house spirits) and the interaction between the narrator and the main character. I look forward to returning to this one on rainy days. Also, now I wanna read the entire Scott Pilgrim series (same author).
This was such a FUN read! So much fun that I read it in just one sitting. The story was interesting and paced well. The characters were all very lovable. The illustrations were perfect. And I absolutely adored how the main character, Katie, broke the fourth wall and talked back to the narrator.
