Read this book yesterday and it helped me realize I don't need "traditional" ornaments to decorate my tree so I found things on my bookshelves to add. This is a crocheted manatee finger puppet. I also used two keychains, a paper dinosaur as the topper and an airplant holder to hold a wood carving.

One more day of our road trip with the dogs from Georgia to Arizona and back in what we refer to as the dog bus. I was worried I wouldn't reach my Goodreads goal this year but short audiobooks on this trip have caught me up. One more day of driving and one more book to reach my goal of 100.

This jerk has become so bitey and is now big enough to get in the furniture by himself that I'm desperately reading this book as quickly as possible to learn how to train him.

valeriegeary Good thing he's so cute. 🤗 6y
mrsh62010 If a puppy bites you or even just gets flesh in his mouth, a good reaction is a high pitched yelp. A squeaky YOW like how pups react to each other when hurt. The dog will usually put their head down and “apologize” and learn pretty quickly to avoid that behavior. I learned that from my dog‘s trainer and it worked really well. Basically, act like it hurts even when it doesn‘t hurt. (edited) 6y
meltedsquirrel @mrsh62010 I tried that but any kind of vocal reaction made it worse. So far the only thing that works is refusing to look at him and remaining silent. Also teaching him to sit really well has helped a lot if he's jumping up to grab my clothes. Now I just need to teach him how to give me back the things he tries to steal! 6y

It decided to be Fall today so I moved my chair outside to read at work. It was a terrible mistake because it made me so sleepy right before busloads of FFA students arrived on a tour. Still worth it though.

I started rereading the Harry Potter books so I could listen to the corresponding Unspoiled Podcasts episodes as I went (I know I'm three years late). But as I was reading I realized exactly how long it's been since I read any of the books and I don't think I've even read the later books more than once. There's so much I don't remember (or didn't catch before).

So you know all those "male authors writing women" cliches? Apparently women can also write women just as badly, falling into the same bad cliched descriptions. Just a book about an attractive woman who is sleeping with her boss and thinks about every guy she interacts with in sexual terms: "what would this paternal figure in my life do if I turned and kissed him" and the plot was not interesting. Evil corporation etc. Only got through 100 pages

It was really great to read this graphic novel about the author's experience planning her wedding. Knisley talks about being hesitant with lots of patriarchal traditions and the expenses of weddings. It doesn't try to make planning weddings sound like a magical, fun adventure while still not putting down other brides.

I was on the fence about this book before with Hector's female characters and pursuits but this is probably the final straw. How dare the character, Hector, a psychiatrist, is asked to medically assist a woman on a plane and learns how she had a tumor removed from her brain and is in terrible pain from a headache and he just thinks about IS HOW SHE USED TO BE PRETTY AND MUST MISS THE ATTENTION OF MEN?!? I. can't.

I keep changing my feelings about this book. It's the only book in awhile that I've stayed up late to read. And I enjoyed it in the moment but then thinking about it afterwards there were somethings that I didn't like. I didn't see the conclusion coming until about 70% of the way on which was nice. But the author was a male writing a female. Characters did some questionable things that irked me. I guess I think it was good with caveats.

Book outlet mail! I'm so happy about the airport book. Allister has decided he's afraid of planes but, because he's five, it's because he thinks you have to jump out of them. There's a book for every situation. Also this book has so much representation. It's so good.

What...Is this nonsense? I read the first book in the series digitally and really enjoyed it but to buy them digitally seemed like it wasn't worth it when I could buy the paperbacks for basically the same price. Anyway bought them last week on Amazon...And the first one is not the same size.
