I loved the movie The Force Awakens and the book delves just a bit deeper. Mostly it explains why the Hosnian system was targeted as the first to be destroyed by Starkiller Base. It housed the Senate & at the time Leia had sent Sella there to beg them to move against the First Order. Also Ren's not quite so cocky without his mask 🖤

I was in the mood for a Star Wars audiobook and I loved knowing what was going to happen 😂 I hate so much of the storylines of our main characters in this movie, but this book added a layer and I appreciate another refresher here before seeing the new movie.

There were parts I liked & parts I didn't, but overall a very good beging to a series than has spaned now for more than a decade. I have SO MANY QUESTIONS almost exclusivly in regards to Rey and Kylo as individuals as well as their connection and can't wait to see how this series unfolds & why Kylo Ren has the emotional range of a teaspoon.

Happy Star Wars Day!

1. I love the new films, but I gotta go with New Hope. Not the best, but my favorite.
2. Originals: Vader, Leia, Luke
Prequels: Maul, Palpatine, Dex
New: Rey, Kylo, Sidon
3. Yay! The new Vader comics (first and second series) are amazing.

In my opinion, the movie is the best so far in the trilogy. The book is even better. I realize that there is more wiggle room as far as the novel is concerned, because the sky is the limit when it comes to the imagination. I just wish that Finn was as well written as he is in the book. I understand Kylo Ren more after reading the book. Rey is even more badass. #starwarstfa #theforceawakens #starwarsbooks #goodreads #goodreadschallenge

I am at the point in the book (page 204 out of 301) where Kylo Ren and Rey meet the first time on Takodana. Rey seems frightened of him. I noticed that Kylo is a bit more sinister in the book. #starwarsbooks #theforceawakens #alandeanfoster #kyloren

Finn and Rey like each other.
Hux is not a big fan of Kylo Ren and vice versa. There is something unspoken about Kylo‘s connection to Finn. The way that he brushed off the conversation about Finn‘s training as if it was nothing made me wonder about their history. Speaking of Finn, his character is less comic relief and more hero in the book. #starwarsbooks #theforceawakens #alandeanfoster

I thought that Unkar Plutt was creepy in the movie, but in the book that character is even worse. He definitely “ enjoys her short time with him at the outpost even continuing to stare as she leaves. Thank goodness the author spares us from an insight into his thoughts. #alandeanfoster #theforceawakensnovelisation #starwarsbooks #books #goodreadschallenge #goodreads

I never could figure out a novelization to a movie that already came out but once I tried it...👍🏽 I loved getting all the little nuances and emotions from a character‘s inner thoughts. Bonus:finally got that Chewie and Leia hug the movie didn‘t have!

Half-Way Status Update: Neither fish nor fowl, this is a hybrid between audio drama & single voice narration Correspondingly, I have mixed feelings about it. I'm not unaware of the unique challenges of the Star Wars audiobook production studio; nor the cult following that the audio franchise has; but the style is so over-the-top that it frequently distracts from the actual story. Still I would be lying if I said I wasn't caught up in the chase!

Guildedearlobe I listened to one Star Wars book and the overdone production was too much for me. Though I think people who like the Audio drama style do better with it. 8y

Nice accompaniment to the film, not lots new, but there are a few side conversations/developments that I wish would have made it into the film, plus some crossovers to some of the other books of the franchise. For instance: a bit about Leia's assistant from "Bloodline", or Snap from "Aftermath", plus alternate views for characters like Poe after the crash on Jakku, and some great little internal thoughts/conflicts that I enjoy sneaking a peek into

Riveted_Reader_Melissa **And as always, I have to give a shout out for the great audiobook. Great narrator again, and as always all the added sound effects and music, really a joy to listen to and the perfect distraction after a long week when fun entertainment was exactly what the doctor ordered. 8y
stargazerblue49 Are you talking about Korrie?? Was so upset when I went onto Wookiepedia and realized that she was the young women who is shown right before the senate planet gets blown up! ☹️ 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @stargazerblue49 Yep! According to an interview I read she originally had more of a scene with Leia before she returned to the Senate and it got cut from the final film. It is in the book, and maybe if we're lucky it will be on some deleted footage, director's edition someday. I really liked her character in 8y
