This was decent! I read it in a day - just a quick, easy-to-read thriller. There are some holes (buy a camera for your home, lady) and Alice was annoying AF, but all in all it was enjoyable! (47)

Here‘s my review for a book I just DNF‘d. I chose this book for a mood read for #bookspinbingo.

Here‘s my progress on my #bookspinbingo picks. I DNF‘d both of them. Both are physical ARCs I have on my book shelf but I listened to them both on audio. I decided that I‘m going to DNF the tagged book in this post because I can‘t get into it. The tagged book was my pick for a Mood Read. I‘m still going to keep the Mood Read prompt on my list for next month because it helped me this month to read a physical book that I didn‘t add to my list.

I decided that this is going to be my mood read for #bookspinbingo. I just started it but I‘m not liking it so far.

This one was a soft pick for me. Usual psychological Fayre from BA Paris.
Her books are always worth a read. Sureprising;y given the title a therapist wasn‘t referenced until the last quarter of the book. It was enjoyable as the story was laid out.

6️⃣ ooh this was quite creepy! I didn‘t figure out the ‘whodunnit‘ until right before it was revealed! An entertaining read.

A long-winded build up to a swift and far-fetched ending. Bizarre storyline that has turns that keep the reader interested and guessing. A tight knit neighborhood community is wary of outsiders after a recent murder happened in House 12. Reminiscent of big little lies, this has suspense and intrigue. Leo hurts Alice by the secrets he keeps, and Alice becomes suspicious of her surroundings. Can your mundane neighbor be capable of murder?

I can always rely on B.A. Paris to write a good domestic drama with some suspense mixed in. I figured out the twist pretty early on, but there were still some small ones that got me. Alice was a little naive in my opinion, but overall a great read!

This one actually had me kind of stumped, and that doesn't happen a lot with thrillers or mysteries anymore. It had many elements of the many popular books of its genre, but with a bit more originality.

Would a reasonable person continue to sleep in that house? No. But what fun would that be? If you‘re looking for a creepy, fast-paced domestic thriller that keeps you guessing, you could definitely do worse.

This would make a great vacation read. 🏖️

Alice uproots her life to move to London for her boyfriend Leo into a posh gated community The Circle. Perfect appearances aren‘t always what they appear. Something bad happened in Alice‘s new home and the neighbors seem to not want to talk about it. This was a fast paced, quick read that kept me on my toes till the end. You may think you figured it out but the author then throws in another twist. Great book!!!

The therapist Is the only book that was not read in my 2022 reading goal. I‘m actually trying to cut down my reading this you, so I‘m a little more tactical with my book choices. No bad books in 23 🙏🏽

I normally read 2-3 books at a time. This time is a little tricky.
The main character in each book has the SAME NAME!!!
And one has a dying father & I just finished Unlikely Animals for #LitsyBookClub that also has a dying father!
I‘m doing a lot of juggling, keeping these straight!

Getting back to my ‘normal‘ non-Bookclub genre - Thrillers. First time reading this author. We will see how it goes!
🕷️ Something is not right about this neighborhood!!! 🕷️

Not blown away, but this fast read is an itch scratcher for the genre.Suspenseful and creepy, though I was inwardly screaming at the decision-making like I was watching a girl in a horror movie constantly “running up the stairs when she should be running out the front door.” Predictable twist with some satisfying (if implausible) elements. It was entertaining, but my favorite part was the Henry David Thoreau quote used by the titular character.3⭐️

Personally, I put B. A. Paris in the same bucket as Peter Swanson. I'm never totally blown away, but they always seem to scratch the itch when I need a quick, outlandish, page-turner of a thriller. I was certainly entertained by The Therapist. There were enough believable red herrings to keep things from being too obvious, and even as I started to suspect "whodunnit" there were added layers to the twist that had definitely NOT occured to me ?

Pretty good psychological thriller with lots of twists and turns. Many characters and directions it could have gone. I did foresee some direction but not all. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Looks like our group is all set. Yay!

It started really well and ended with one almighty twist.

I'd give this one three stars. I didn't empathize with any of the characters and it was more of a slog to the finish rather than a race. It just didn't have the suspense that most books in domestic suspense genre usually do.

A rare warm weather day has me reading outside!

Finished this on Dec. 23rd. I enjoyed the narration. I especially liked how the word “murder” was pronounced. At times the language was repetitive as we are in the narrator‘s head. While I saw part of the end coming, there was one part that I definitely did not. I‘ve had mixed feelings about this author‘s work in the past but I‘ve checked out other audiobooks by this author to give a listen to. It‘s an intriguing premise & would make a good movie

Not my favorite from the author. The foreshadowing was heavy handed so there were few true surprises. It kept my attention (which is an accomplishment as of late) but just not up to par with Paris‘ other books. Not to mention the offensive psychology info…

2021 was a year of highs and lows. Being a therapist in a pandemic is ROUGH. Yet we bought a house, a goal I had for a decade. Last year, I focused on giving myself grace and those things I truly enjoy, allowing myself to do them if I felt like it... and not do them if I didn't. That often meant more Netflix and much less reading. After a year of rest, I'm excited to get back into it, balancing more “growth“ with “grace“. #BookSpinBingo

Alice and Leo have just moved into their new home in an exclusive gated community known as The Circle.

As Alice is getting to know her neighbors, she learns a horrible secret about her beautiful home: the previous owner, Nina, was murdered. Presumably by her husband.

Why would Leo have kept this from her?

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of thrillers and is looking for an easy read! Had some fun twists and turns!

A big “meh” on this one. The ending was somewhat predictable, though there were enough alternate theories happening throughout that it did sort of keep me guessing. The MC is distrustful of just about everyone, so they all seem suspicious. The flashbacks to “past” didn‘t really seem to add anything to the story and the title “the therapist” seems an odd choice, given how the book played out. This book was enjoyable, but not fantastic
