3 ⭐ I waited so long to read this book. I should have kept waiting. Rachael was attacked in her home and accidently killed her attacker. Flash forwards a year, she is in a new school, in a new city, trying to make friends and fit in. But her trauma has brought on a love of horror movies. She feels that by watching horror movies she can arm herself or train herself to not be frightened by what happened to her.
@BeeMagical I‘m SPEECHLESS!!! How FREAKIN incredible is that picture and frame 😆😆🐍. I will admit, I shrieked with excitement lol. #HauntedHollowSwap Book selection, SO COOL! You killed it. I‘m feeling very grateful and in love with my lil candy corn 🧡 THANK YOU for making my first #HHS23 beyond spook-tastic. Thanks again @wanderinglynn for letting me take part!
I had to drop this read last month, but now I‘m back to it. I‘m loving all the horror references in this one.

Next up is the first of 7 #YA books I need to read for my class - Libraries, Literature and the Young Adult.
Also knitting a very pink sweater. #knittersoflitsy #craftersoflitsy #litsycrafters
The ending is a serious punch to the gut. I‘m not even kidding. As fan of horror movies particularly the teen slasher genre of the 80s,90s and so on I really enjoyed reading the story. My rating for The Mary Shelly Club is four stars out of five. #TheMaryShellyClub
I‘m almost finished with this book. I am up to page 346. It‘s safe to say I don‘t know who Rachel can trust. Everyone in the club is suspicious. #themaryshellyclub #goldymoldavsky
Well, I started reading another book. Had to take a break from reading but I really like this story so far. 32 pages in . #TheMaryShellyClub #GoldyMoldavsky
I too got suckered into the $5 book with drink purchase at B&N but I actually enjoyed it. A girl dealing with trauma trying to fit in and find her people but keeps getting betrayed. Easy to guess the ending and the who done it, but still a fun one. I think the Brooklyn setting made it for me- you could tell the author was from there like me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 stars!
This was my #TBRtarot pick for May with knife on the spine! @CBee
I really enjoyed this one… thank you again @Sleepswithbooks for the gift 🎁 :)

I needed to take a break from some of the other books I had going, so I picked up this one :) Thank you again @SleepsWithBooks, for the surprise gift (way back when I was in September, I think when you gifted this to me).
#CatsOfLitsy Lobster ready for shipment :)
Another little #bookhaul moment, though only one is for me! The tagged is for my mom with the card for her birthday. Finlay Donovan is because Amazon had a buy one get one 50% offer on certain items and since I was already buying one. . . Well, we all know how that goes.
Knit night. This book was $5 at B&N if you bought a drink at the cafe.
Rachel is attacked and kills her attacker. A year later she is at a new school and joins this club - supposedly a horror fan club, but really they play cruel “pranks“ on people that they feel have wronged them. Rachel as MC is too flawed for me - constant thought of how bad she feels for defending herself but joins a club that hurts others the way she was - none of the characters are very likable. 25% in and I'm out -
Make a great day everyone 🍂
Enjoying everything I'm reading right now - making progress on some #BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
Not sure any of the books I am currently reading will fit into #Autumnbingo2022 @Ann_Reads so I may have to pick some later that do (some nice cozy holiday reads) --
Make a great day everyone -🍂
Here are some of my #NovemberReads - working on #BookSpinBingo -
May try to reread “Under the Dome“ for #LosersClub - it is a chunkster 😊
Make a great day everyone 🍂
I liked main character and it was easy to root for her.
This was really atmospheric read and I really loved that. I also loved how there were crafted different horror scenarios. I would have loved to have more thrilling moments because atmosphere was perfect but there weren't that many scary scenes.
This had a nice solid plot and good amount of action. With contemporary genre represented less this would have been even more intriguing.
Donna!!! You are amazing!!! Thank you for such a fabulous birthday box - it was totally unexpected and I‘m so touched 🥰 And you arranged Gummi-Dinosaurs to arrive on National Gummi-Worm Day😂 I‘m so excited for “The Mary Shelley Club” to be my next read!! Thank you my friend 🤗😘

Halloween (slasher horror, final girl) meets Gossip Girl (rich kids at an elite prep Manhattan prep school). This turned out to be a delightfully scary ride with an explosive climactic sequence and an ending that leaves open the possibility of a sequel (as any good slasher film would). I mostly predicted the twist/villain, but this did not take away from the experience at all.

“Rachel sat at her desk like a pretzel, ankles tucked beneath her, knees up and pressed against the hard edge of the wood.”
Outstanding. I f**king loved this book so much. It was everything I love in a book and more. Scream meets Karen McManus. Great characters and amazing story. Fingers crossed for a sequel ❤️❤️❤️🤓🗡️
Not even half way through this book and I'm in love with it ❤️
Starting my new book while Sunday football keeps Bear occupied ☺️🤓⚽📚
This was better than I expected. At first I thought it was going to be a bit *too* YA-ish, but then it turned into a psychological thriller with a ton of dark twists and turns. I especially enjoyed it seeing how I adore horror movies & books.
I‘m not a horror girl at all, but I do love Frankenstein, so the title of this book is what caught my attention. That, and the fact that I loved the author‘s first book. I really enjoyed this one too! The twists at the end were pretty good!

I really enjoyed the storyline. I‘m a huge horror movie fan and try references throughout made it even better.
I am so far behind on my boxes from Once Upon A Book Club so I finally got to read this one! I loved it! I loved that it was full of horror references! The references really added to the premise of the book. Also I loved the gifts that came in the box! If anyone hasn‘t heard of OUABC you should really look into it! It‘s an awesome way to read a book and I love it!
@ElizaMarie I gotta stop watching book hauls on YouTube. Well I came across this one. I thought of u. Have u heard of it?
This was a fun YA that was perfect to kick off my spooky reading 🔪There were a lot of horror movie references. I lost some sleep over this one because I couldn‘t put it down! #teamslaughter #scarathlon2021 #bookspinbingo #spookoween #wickedathon

Fun spooky read that reminded me of the 90's horror books I used to read as a teen. I really liked all the nods to classic horror reads and films throughout.
This was an fun YA horror book that is about a secret group of high school students who play scary pranks on their peers. Lots of horror references which I loved and like most YA, there were some cheesy moments.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and it‘s perfect for the spooky season!
The narrator for an audibook can really make or break a book. I did NOT click with the narrator of this one, I don't even think she was off base with how the character would sound. However I found it really difficult to get into because of the voice chosen, it made me really dislike the main character...in fact I didn't like any of them.
I have been dying to read this one and when I saw my library was getting it in I immediately put it on hold and was so excited to pick it up!
This was a fun YA read about a secret high school club that scares fellow classmates to study horror. Lots of good movie references and gothic literature mentioned throughout. It‘s kinda cheesy in parts, thrilling in others, and did keep me guessing till the end.
Overall, a fun, light read for horror fans 🖤💀🔪
Entertaining and intense. I had a lot of fun trying to puzzle together what was really going on in this book and I was still left with a few questions dangling in the air. Much of this story was just pure, delightful evilness.
I absolutely love myself a good slasher high school book. I did like this book but there was definitely some things wrong with it. I feel like the author was really reaching for an ending you didn't see coming and I think she reached a little too far. Also there were a lot of characters and I didn't see very much character development. Also I wouldn't suggest the audio book, the narrator makes everyone sounds like a snob, it was hard to listen to.
4/5⭐
I quite enjoyed this clever love letter to the horror genre. It holds all the nostalgia of a typical teen slasher but with an original twist.
I enjoyed the setting, the club, and each of the characters. All the subtle nods to horror movies were def my favorite parts!
The ending, while good, went from 0 to 100 real fast and was somewhat predictable. The ride there was still tons of fun though! 🔪
Now I need to go rewatch Scream 👻
I love a good high school horror novel. 🔪
This one wasn‘t the best one I‘ve ever read, but I did read it over two days on the tail end of a pretty severe reading slump, so that‘s saying something. I cared about some of the characters at the end and would likely pick up a sequel if the author writes one.
Should I be starting another book right now?
...No
Is it mother's day, and was it a gift?
...yes
Reason enough for me!!
STARTING IT! ?
The tagline says, " A little bit Scream, a little bit Gossip Girl.." YES PLEASE! ??♀️???
5/5 for this one! Holy smokes!! I could not put this book down. You are pulled in by the prologue and then kept on the hook by the rest of the story. This was an awesome YA thriller. I was on the edge of my seat. I cannot wait to read more by this author. I recommend this one!
I absolutely adored this book. It was creepy and dark and utterly thrilling. The ending fell short for me (but it was 4 am soooo), however I‘m hopeful that the author has plans for a sequel! A good one for horror movie fans. #netgalley ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
