A Southern cozy paranormal mystery. A realtor who makes a living selling historic houses ends up inheriting one steeped in a family mystey and full of ghosts. Typical paranormal cozy. Easy to figure out but enjoyable 3 🌟

This is one of those books that waited on my shelves for YEARS bc I was afraid it wouldn't live up to my expectations. Good thing it did! It was great. Atmospheric Southern setting with a little bit of Gothic thrown in, a few mysteries to solve, and enough relationship dynamics to really keep things interesting. Plus, ghosts! I don't think I'll wait years before I pick up the next one

rjsthumbelina Book 2 finished for #JoysofJune! 3y

That annoying moment when something that is IN THE BOOK'S BLURB doesn't happen until page 240 out of a less than 400 page book. Why would the publishers give something like that away?! 🤬🤬 Makes me angry. I don't even like to read blurbs anymore, for that reason! Anybody else find this super obnoxious?

BookwormM Yes along with preface/foreword that basically tell the whole story 😡 3y

My goals for #joysofjune is to finish 5 books across 5 different genres.
(The tagged book is one I am currently in the middle of and anticipate finishing this week.)

I really loved this story! I‘ve read a book somewhere in the middle of the series, which I also enjoyed, but it was great getting a background look at these snarky, fun characters. The story is a great combination of mystery, the history of Charleston and its culture, and ghost story. Love it! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 11 points for #merryreaders #wintergames2020

🎧 I would never have bought this book based on the title! 🤨 BUT I LOVED IT! It‘s definitely fun so don‘t be expecting a literary classic. Real estate agent sees ghosts. Feisty, occasionally frustratingly stubborn main character. Suspense, mystery, humor, haunted house, ghosts, drama and yes a little romance. The narrator really fit this story well!! Enjoyable diversion! I‘m definitely getting the next book in the series!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

After reading the last book in the series, I had to go back and start from the beginning. The first book begins my journey into Melanie's world of ghosts and treasure hunting. What fun I have ahead of me!

Literary_Siren I love this series so much! 5y

Finished my first #thankfullyreading book. I ended up really enjoying this book. It‘s more of a cozy mystery than I usually read but I love reading all about Charleston.

Scochrane26 I love Charleston. I‘ve only been once & want to go back. 5y

I'm enjoying this so far, although it seems like lots of other people found the characters annoying. It reminds me a good bit of some of the Barbara Michaels paranormals.

Now for the eyeglass rant. She squints. She orders from memory rather than put her glasses on in front of a good looking man. I've got no patience for this. I've worn glasses since I was 8 years old. Thick lenses, got called 4 eyes, can't see anything without them glasses. All y'all that don't need them until you're 40 and then just for reading? Just suck it up a put them on! 🤓

Crinoline_Laphroaig This had so much going for it. Charleston, historical mystery, old houses and gardens. All of which are things I love. But it's hard to like the Heroine Melanie. She's incredibly dumb when it comes to men. Continually acting like a teenager when she is 39 years old is off-putting. She guzzles Cokes (the soda not the drug) eats nothing but sweets, & calorie laden Southern food yet never gains weight. Doesn't help with the likeability factor. 5y
Crinoline_Laphroaig Love interest Jack isn't much better. Most of the time he's an ass. Although his 13 year old boy humor is a match for Melanie's silliness. If the romance had been between people who acted like adults, it would have been so much better.

The main character is a bit stuck up. She wants the finer things in life but inherited a haunted run down house.

This was ok. It felt like a hallmark channel movie though and I just get bored with those. The main character was annoying too.

I have read the first four books in this series and am currently working on the fifth. Normally this wouldn't have been my cup of tea, but once I got into the mystery, I couldn't put it down. I love the fact that the main character feels true and embedded in a possible reality.

History, mystery, romance, and ghost! What a way to kick off a series. I enjoy Karen White‘s books and I didn‘t know how I would feel about this paranormal ghost story. But I really enjoyed all of it, the storyline, character development, and the mysterious nature, all well done. I think this book would appeal to all readers.

This was a cute little story. It held my attention but barely. I would call this a mild mystery. I listened to the audiobook. The narrator sounded like an old lady to me so I kept picturing the main character as one despite the fact that she was younger than me. This was not scary or intense in any way. If that is your style then this is the book for you.

Day 18: Inheritance
If you are a fan of southern chick lit you will love this series! Set in Charleston, Melanie Middleton inherits a home on historic Tradd Street, as well as the ghosts that come with it. Best enjoyed while sipping sweet tea on your veranda and simultaneously judging- ahem- keeping an eye on your neighbors!

JoScho I live in Charleston 😊💕 7y
TheFunkyBookworm @JoScho oh I‘m so jealous!! I visited once when I was young and we are dying to go back! We often visit Savannah, your sister city, and we LOVE it! Have you read this series? 7y
JoScho I haven‘t! I will check it out. We have done a few weekends in Savannah and it is always fun and I may be biased but I think we have the better restaurants. Where do you currently live? 7y
TheFunkyBookworm @JoScho better restaurants?! Oh my, I can‘t even imagine! Haha I‘m a reality tv junkie and I love to watch the show Southern Charm on Bravo which is filmed in Charleston 😂 I live in Tampa, Fl- aka on the surface of the sun LOL 7y
JoScho @TheFunkyBookworm yes our restaurants are amazing! And while it gets hot here it is certainly isn‘t as scorching as Tampa. 7y

My Fiftieth book of the year!!! #50 !!! I love this author and this new-to-me series is fun. Old historic homes, the city of Charleston, southern society, old family secrets, a little romance, and ...ghosts- lots of them!

The first in a series that‘s ratings only seem to get better as they go!

Did I mention it was my 50th book? I only read about 67 all year last year.

Cinfhen Whoa!!! Nice 🙌🏻❣️ 7y

Trees starting to bloom here at home. My recommendation is The House on Tradd Street by Karen White. It‘s the first in a series. It has wonderful characters, an old Southern house for the setting and even some paranormal aspects. I just adore this series. #WhiskeyRocks. Thanks @Booksnchill for the giveaway and congratulations!

I just love this charming #CozyMystery series full of southern hospitality, charm & a bit of paranormal. Read the 2nd &3rd 📚years ago; finally got to the 1st one, this time on 🎧 & it was just as enjoyable as I remember!
Melanie is a hoot w her OCD tendencies, a major sweet tooth & much to her chagrin, an ability to see ghosts who always share secrets with her about the historic houses she sells around Charleston. Naturally, adventures ensue!😊

Southern mystery set in Charleston-with ghosts! I don't often read mystery so this was outside the box for me + I liked it 😊 (I love Karen White!) This book was easy to read with no petty drama. Love sidekick Jack! I added the audio, narrated by Aimee Bruneau, which added to the Southern charm.
