Good, but weird. Not my usual genre. Definitely kept me engaged but it was a little too sci fi / apocalyptic for my taste. I enjoyed the unusual love story that the story spiraled around.
I really enjoyed this book. This absolute page-turner had my mind spiraling. It was unpredictable at all points, creative, unique, and very well edited. This book quite literally makes you think while captivating its reader in the story. I will definitely be reading more books from this author. Easy 5⭐.
I really liked Dark matter and this is another take on time lines and possibilities. I did find it confusing at times and I got lost in all the timelines. This was highly complex with well drawn characters. Intelligent and thoughtful. Excellent ending.
SO GRIPPY 😱😱😱 I have no idea why it took me so long to read another Blake crouch when I loved dark matter so much. anyway. This one is still sciencey but with a messing-with-time element, and gives a seriously disturbing look at what worldwide nuclear war looks like in real life 🫣 a great read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I did really like this one. I thought the time loop went on a bit too long towards the end. It just felt very repetitive, but I got why they were doing it.
False Memory Syndrome is sweeping the nation. People are getting false memories and killing themselves. Barry decides to investigate.
Picked this up because it was on @wanderinglynn ‘s #auldlangspine list this year! So glad it was on your list because I wouldn‘t have picked it up!
This was an interesting book. I really enjoyed it the way it made me think.. The characters are very likable and you feel yourself wanting more of them after the book is complete 🥰 memories, so important ❤️
Book haul for April 8, 2024!
Went in for Recursion by Blake Crouch for my friends‘ bookclub. Came out with a few other titles from the remaindered tables 😆.
I‘ve heard great things about everything George Saunders has written, so Liberation Day seems as good a place as any to start.
I‘m a Ian McEwan fan, but wasn‘t sure if Lessons warranted a day one purchase so I‘m getting to it now.
And I need to read more King classics so Carrie it is!
@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘m at a loss for words, and that‘s rare! I‘m honored and appreciative. You‘ll never know how much this set my soul ablaze. Thank you!!

1. The tagged isn‘t exactly a mystery but it involved a mysterious illness. And it‘s one of my top 10 reads this year.
2. Zero World
3. I don‘t really have a fave. It depends on the story. But generally, the cozy mystery.
I just realized the puzzle I finished today is the same color as the book!
This was one of my 12/12/12 challenge. Huge thanks to Rae for recommending Recursion. What a wild, trippy ride! I started it & couldn‘t put it down. This was my first Blake Crouch book, but now I‘m going to go check out his other books.
I completely enjoyed this book! It is science fiction and philosophy. I found the characters believable. I read Dark Matter first and was happy to have found Blake Crouch!
I don't think Blake Crouch books are my thing... I tried Dark Matter but also did not like it. I just felt very bored throughout the story in Recursion. It felt like both the story contained way too little, yet too much at the same time. I thought maybe this could have been a really strong short story of maybe 100 pages, but it's over 3x as long. I think I'll be giving up on this author.

📖 Recursion (Blake Crouch), Royal Assassin (Hobb)
✒ JK Rowling
🎞 Robin Hood: Men in Tights
📺 Rick & Morty
🎤 RICKY MARTIN, Röyksopp, Rihanna, Rita Ora
🎶 Running up that Hill (Kate Bush), Ride It (Regard)
This book is amazing combination of time traveling, alternated lifetimes, mind bending and even horrifying ideas.
It is a weird, compelling and oddly romantic book. It's fascinating, confusing and brilliant!
Though I have some quibbles with the world building and character building, I really flew through this one. I can absolutely see it as a movie. Very entertaining.

Oof, totally missed the opening day for #fallingforfallswap
Thank you @BethM - Work is a b**** lately, so comfy socks, tasty tea and a cozy read sounds excellent! The sci fi book sounds cool, too. #fffs
Wow, fast paced scifi thriller roller coaster of a book! The cover art that‘s a maze and infinity symbol is apt.
This is my first Blake Crouch, and now I‘m looking forward to trying another. I didn‘t want to stop reading, it‘s fully engrossing.
Thanks @AmyG I had fun immersing myself in this crazy ride!
Wow! That‘s all I can say. A great audiobook- lots of ideas and action. If you‘re in the mood for some mind bending timey wimey adventures with a touch of romance , this audiobook is for you. It was due on Libby and I hadn‘t even started it so spent the last two days listening- so absorbing. 👍👍
Pulled together my July #BookspinBingo list. So many on here I can hardly wait to read. Can‘t wait to see what numbers you draw @TheAromaofBooks . 💕📚
Crouch has mastered the techno thriller that's for sure. This was not only a great read but I found it really thought provoking. Looking at the nature of memory and how everything is linked. Whether our lives would be better if we could go back in time and change the past, the effects such changes would have on us and others. The author showed how life should not be lived looking backward but in moving forward. A great book club discussion!
Not making a lot of progress with my #BookSpins so I chose to read a #Roll100 pick instead (almost a pick, the #1 pick was 49 but I already read that in January and this was no 48). And I loved it.
The premise is confusing and in some parts quite unclear IMO, but this is what a great SciFi book is for me: start with an idea more or less explained and use it to explore characters' actions and inner lives and the impact on the society. A pick!
I recently read his other book, Dark Matter and quickly wanted to read this, which I thought was even better. As cases of False Memory Syndrome increase globally Detective Barry Sutton and Neuroscientist Helena Smith are drawn into the world of memory, physics, reality and the power of the human mind after Helena invents a powerful chair.
📚📚📚📚📚 This book is awesome. Slow at the beginning but by page 67 the dark twisting truth begins to unsettle you and by page 88…you realize how out of depth you are and it‘s brilliant. The rest of the story flys by. I sat down at 1600 and finished at 1920; the book is THAT good.
Here‘s my #Top21of2021 **in no particular order** … of course there‘s time for it to change still 😁
And I could only add 20, so 21 (still no order) is: The Girl From the Other Side
And of these, my TOP 4 (in the order in which I read them):
1. Recursion
2. Sun Down Motel
3. The Other Black Girl
4. Velvet Was the Night

I'm ready for another book by Blake Crouch!💛📙
Oh my days... this book... How the heck am I supposed to get to sleep now? I'm an emotional wreck 😵😶
Tense, mind-warping, sci fi thriller that (for me, at least) packed a surprising emotional punch.
I'm not going to think too hard about whether the concept would have worked irl. It's a rollercoaster ride of a book and I now need time to recover & digest.
I think this might be 5 stars just for getting me in the feels and hijacking my evening.
And now for something completely different... 😁
So far the fast paced, straight-to-the-point writing style is reminding me of my old fave Harlan Coben... I'd probably enjoy books like this more if I wasn't a doctor... every time medical stuff happens I have to suspend my disbelief and it's a stretch... Enjoying it so far 💙
I absolutely loved this book! What if you could go back to any point in your life and change it and continue to live from that point on? What happens if this technology gets out and everyone is doing it? What happens if you keep doing it over and over? This is my second book by this author and I was afraid to start it because I loved the other one so much and didn‘t want to be disappointed, I was not! Cant wait to grab another book by him.
Thanks for the tag @Yuki_Onna
1) Nope... I always seem to miss the messages that recruit for these games! I've got a lot on this month, so it's probably for the best.

Happy National Coffee Day! ☕️
What better way to start it out then with coffee, breakfast and a new book!

#LittensDressedInBlood Today's prompt is Time Warp.
This book is a wild time warping ride! Sadly, no one actually does the Time Warp dance in the book, but time is indeed warped.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Dark Matter (also by Crouch) still has me thinking, and I read it a few years ago! Recursion is going to keep me thinking about Crouch. He has a handle on the logistics of time-travel that few movies and books have. Science fiction isn't usually my thing, but I'm starting to rethink that. I now have all his books on my neverending TBR pile.
Heads up, Nerds! Blake Crouch is doing an event on 9/14 for his local library - the Southwest La Plata Library District - and it will be streamed on FB live.
Here‘s the link to the library page: https://swlplibrarydistrict.org/home/my-calendar/
Still can't remember which one of you tempted me into purchasing a book trolley but it was an EXCELLENT decision 💕
(Some of) my TBR now has wheels 🥰 (1/2)
🤯 Wow. Blake Crouch must have an incredible imagination. This was a great book. People start to experience False Memory Syndrome (FMS), remembering lives they never lived. When NYC cop Barry Sutton starts to investigate, he could not possibly be prepared for what he finds. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a ride 😋
This book is bonkers, y‘all! I couldn‘t put it down. I finished it up during our usual Forged in Fire TV night because I just had to find out how it ended. I love this author and his particular brand of science nerd thriller. This could be an amazing series in the proper hands! So good if you like earthbound sci-fi.
Selling quite a few books on PangoBooks, which is an app where you can buy and sell books. I have a lot of #botm books on there for $5. If you spend $25+ you get free shipping.

What a page turner!! I usually am not a sci-fi fan but Blake Crouch's writing is just outstanding!!
