Please someone explain to me why they loved this book?
Everyone I know loved it and I tried so so so so hard to look past it‘s many flaws, and just appreciate the writing (which was beautiful). I read an interview explaining that the changes in the main character represented the changes in Irish society. Maybe there are more analogies that I didn‘t understand?

5 out of 5 stars!!! It was so good!! So much drama and intrigue. Rivalries and huge personalities. I don‘t even like basketball but I was feeling nostalgic for home and the 90s and so I picked this up. Probably one of the best I‘ve read this year.

I bought a brand new Amazon Kindle Fabric Cover and Amazon Kindle Signtature wireless charger for $2.00 and $2.50. They are in the used section, condition is called Used-Like New, and sold directly from Amazon. Packaging is damaged but contents were fine and brand new. Hope this helps someone.

I rarely enjoy fantasy, but read this one because I‘ve loved a few King books in the past and because it seemed everyone was raving about it. Yup, still true, I don‘t like fantasy.

This book was so much fun to read!!! I was never a comic book aficionado but do enjoy the Marvel movies and characters. The author read all 27,000 comic books and discusses their history, the writers, illustrators, various reoccurring themes, timelines, plots, etc. His love for the stories is infectious, and I especially enjoyed the last chapter and the appendix.

It arrives during their extended return period so figure I‘d try it out.

As with most book of essays, I liked some essays more than others. Almost all of the essays were beautiful, poetic, interesting, relatable and smart all at the same time. Some essays though were genius.

Didn‘t enjoy this one as much as the previous two. Felt rushed and overly simplistic. I did like the technical parts, but the story was bland.

Broad high level discussion of 10 most pressing current geo-political border conflicts on the globe. I say discussion because author‘s biases were annoyingly obvious. 20 -30 pages is not enough to provide a meaningful understanding of any of these hotspots, but for a 10,000 foot view or initial introduction, it was okay.

Randomly picked this up at a library sale and came home to discover it was a signed copy. Score! Book itself reminded me of a Mary Roach book, but with less details and facts. Still a fun read but …… I still don‘t like ice cream.

This book was on my TBR a long time. Beautiful, albeit melancholic writing. Some parts were brilliant, others I found cliched (predictable plot twists, cartoonish villains).

One of the saddest books I‘ve read in a long time. Read as part of Banned Book Challenge.

1. I Read as part of a banned book challenge.
2. I had a few major issues with the book but feel like I have no right to criticize this manifesto because I‘m not the intended audience.

I usually don‘t like books with unlikeable main characters. However, I enjoyed this book. I loved gaming when I was younger, so maybe that helped.

Informative and important read. I was delighted with the scientific chapters and the marvel that is our universe. The remainder of her book chronicles her thoughts and experiences as a minority in this country and within a scientific community dominated by white men. Much of it was intensely relatable as a WOC in a male dominated STEM-field.

Wanted to share my Library Book Sale Haul with the only community that will understand my joy - would love to hear opinions on these.

Great Book. Considering how much I love reading non-fiction and fiction books about WWII, I was surprised I still learned a few new things. 600+ pages flew by. 4 out of 5 stars.

Unbelievably good. Savored the writing. I can‘t believe I put this off for so long because so many people said it was slow and difficult to read. It was neither. I‘d say it was brilliant. I think I will be re-reading this more than once.

She provides excellent analysis trying to answer the question why people are turning to authoritarian leaders all over the globe.
I realize her previous books, jobs, and life experience play an important part in her analysis, however the constant name-dropping and personal stories took away from the tone of the book for me.
Felt like a pompous uncle at a family dinner rather than the very well-researched book it is.

1. Nope. I get so much more satisfaction from seeing books lined or stacked neatly in shelves.
2. Life in general.

Have been meaning to read this for awhile. Loved the show Big Love on HBO a few years ago and wanted to learn more about this religion. It was a fascinating read and I‘m taken aback by how much the history of Mormonism is similar to other religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism etc). Had no idea that Mormonism is among the fastest growing religions in the US, if not the fastest.

Overall, a good book. Not an easy read by any means though. Recommended by my high schooler who read it in class. Lots of symbolism, historical context, social commentary, and deeper meanings. I can see why an English teacher would choose it.
