This story is about four women who, over a number of decades, are connected through a Vegas casino. It was touching and ran deeper than I expected. And, yet again, I was impressed with how skilled McBride is at weaving complex stories together (although things did wrap up a little too neatly for me). But overall this was a great read and is worthy of more litsy love.

Depressing and slow moving and the back said “jubilant and compassionate,” but I just can‘t. Life‘s too short and my TBR too long.

Laura McBride did it again and I couldn't be happier. Two years ago I devoured her debut title, shameless taken from the shelf because of an intriguing cover and then cried while shopping at Sam's Club listening to "We Are Called To Rise". I was thrilled to see a second novel from an author so talented to bring several distinct characters to life and despite huge generational time spans, intertwining their stories together so seamlessly.

Two new Audible credits just came to me. So , I now have these 2. Both Litsy inspired... both sound really fab. TBR is in trouble ( again) 🤭💕. Thankyou Littens , I think these will be good ...

1. Lilies of the Valley from my garden
2. Reading the tagged book this month for my IRL book group
3. Tickets for the dance recital of one of our granddaughters
4. Leftover shrimp scampi with GF pasta
5. Gluten Free Angel Food cake with buttercream frosting. I make cheesecake for everyone else‘s bday so it has to be something they can order for me.

Great book! Well worth reading. Great characters and I love the Vegas setting. The author shows us that there is a real world behind the dazzling lights of the Strip.

I absolutely loved this author's first book, 'We Are Called to Rise' which was set in Las Vegas, as is this. Looking forward to getting started on this one!

This is an awesome bargain! I read We Are Called to Rise when it came out and I loved it! This book is written in the same style but the story is about "old" Vegas.

Spent the holiday weekend completely engrossed in McBride's latest! I loved WE ARE CALLED TO RISE, and 'ROUND MIDNIGHT is just as good. Add it to your summer TBR list for sure.

I loved this book!! I won an advance reader's edition.

Centered around a casino in Las Vegas, this is a story of some very diverse characters whose lives are connected. Diverse racially, culturally, religiously and socio-economically. Such a good story.

Don't you love this cover? When I really like a cover, it gives me a little frisson every time I pick that book up.

Just started this a few days ago. I wish I had more spare time. I love it so far!!

Make Trouble, John Water's commencement speech for my great-niece who gets her Masters next week. An advance copy of 'Round Midnight from something I entered. (I wish the cover letter would remind me). And my very first pair of LuLaRoe leggings. So soft!

I just busted this package open and I'm SO excited! I cannot wait to start this one!! I have heard really good things about the author's other title, We Are Called to Rise which is in my stack to get to asap.
