I love this #underrated author‘s #horror flash fiction. He can build so much gore and suspense in so very few pages. I‘ve been a horrible reviewer and had this ARC on my shelf for **way** too long. So, now that it‘s #scarathlon2022, I am reaping #allthepoints from this story collection. Yes, plenty of supernatural #murder here.

pickI love this series! While keeping me interested with twists and turns, it also just makes me laugh at times. I had to request that my library obtain a copy (and they bought it within a few days!) plus it has fewer reviews than a lot of popular books so I‘m using it for #underrated for #booked2021. pickThe Mountains Sing is a harrowing story of intergenerational trauma that spans the Land Reforms of the 1950s through the post-Vietnam War era. At its core is Dieu Lan, the grandmother, an incredibly resilient woman who perseveres through horrific tragedies. Dieu Lan‘s flashbacks alternate from the coming of age story of her granddaughter, Guava. Reconciliation, forgiveness, and familial bonds are recurring themes. Definitely a 5⭐️ read.

I do believe that most movies do not do justice to the book. Stephen King's writing always gives me a very clear image of the evil that is portrayed. It is never the image that is portrayed in the film version.

pickThis was a unexpected surprise. Like @Cinfhen says, it would well fit the #Underrated prompt for #Booked2021.
Six friends are inseparable while growing up until one of them leaves their group without an explanation. The others are at loss and all falls apart. Years later they are adults and reminisce about that time. Looking for answers only raises more questions.
pickProbably America's funniest 20th century writer, definitely the most #underrated, and in the running for flatout best.
