The Inimitable Jeeves
In the Market for Murder
The Love of my Afterlife - ARC
The Marlow Murder Club
The Seven Year Slip

Maude Horton's Glorious Revenge
The City of Stardust - ARC
The Music Makers - ARC (bail)
I read more than I thought I would this week - surprisingly my re-read of American Baby for upcoming bookclub, ended up being my favorite book of the week. The rest were just ok.
Another week another book report! Finished 4 books this week although one, The Whalebone Theatre was over 18 hours of audio ( totally worth it!!) I liked North Woods a lot and the Boyne was engaging but definitely not on the same level as past Boyne books. Sandy Hook was a bit of a disappointment because the book was really about the conspiracy theorists who flat out denied the SH murders & basically terrorized the families for years.
Other than The Laughter, which was super compelling ( great rec @sarahbarnes ) nothing else really stood out 🤷🏼♀️I did enjoy Looker, Don‘t Forget and Marie Antoinette but I don‘t think they‘re gonna stay with me. Once again I‘m in this weird kind of funk… where it‘s difficult to find books that captivate me. Hoping for some better reads this coming week.
I had a good reading week , despite being in a bit of a reading funk 😊❣️I really loved VERY NICE and HOW CAN I HELP YOU. I enjoyed EVERYONE HERE IS LYING. The others were #MoreMehThanYeah and I did bail on two other books.
I‘m back from vacation! Italy was AMAZING 🤩❤️💚🤍🤩 I finished 3 books and I‘m in the middle of two audiobooks. LOVING the LaPena!!! Enjoyed the three I finished …favorite was the NF - Drama High
I really enjoyed the top two books - the others were #GoodNotGreat
I had such a GREAT READING WEEK! Not only did I finish 10 books but I REALLY ENJOYED 5 of them and Shark Heart was a Top 10 of the year for me! The top row were all 4 star reads, I liked Day of Fire. Telegraph was good just too YA for my reading preferences and Old God‘s was too depressing and disjointed. I HATED the new Kim but was actually ok with Memory of Animals. I think it‘ll make for good discussion. #CampLitsy23
I REALLY LOVED both Victory City and Tom Lake ! Mama Love, Kala and Come Fly were #GoodNotGreat
Happiness Falls is an ARC which I was really looking forward to but it‘s not meeting my expectations. I‘ve been wavering between a total pan and so-so. Still have another 100 pages to go, maybe it‘ll get better 🤪
I can‘t believe a random book I picked up for a challenge ended up being my favorite read of the week…The others were all ok but nothing outstanding ( don‘t get me wrong, Noni Blake was not outstanding either, but I was charmed by her Aussie spirit!)
Had some hits and misses this week - but that‘s how it goes 🤓
Favorite of the week was easily Good Night, Irene. A wonderful story about a courageous group of women, based on the author‘s own mother.
Another fantastic week of reads❣️😊 LOVED Chain Gang and Lady Tan. I really enjoyed Paris Bookseller. It was #MoreMehThanYeah for Eve & Big Gay Wedding and thought the two memoirs were excellent. The Reynolds was gorgeous - ALL the credit to artwork by Jason Griffin.
Another GREAT week of reads!!! Im just in awe of all of these creative minds 🙌🏻💗I‘ve started Chain-Gang and it‘s FANTASTIC!!! I loved Sinner‘s Bleed and a Town Called Solace. Sunshine Nails was really fun - it publishes this Tuesday and the others were between so-so‘s and pan. Eden Test was the BIG DISAPPOINTMENT but you can‘t love them all! Excited for tomorrow‘s #BookSpin #DoubleSpin
Despite having #CovidBrain I still managed to finish 7 books this week! I struggled with BW for the first 200 pages but then I flew through the final 150 pages. I didn‘t love it as much as @BarbaraBB but I did figure out what was what. None of these books were outstanding but I did get a few good laughs from Helen Ellis 😁 I‘m definitely feeling much better and appreciate all your get well wishes 🥰
I didn‘t get too much reading in this week but still managed to finish 4 books. My #TitlesAndTunes were both a bit disappointing and I‘m still pondering my #DoubleSpin #ARC — Alice Hoffman can be a hit or miss for me and sadly this one fell more towards the miss column. Lost & Found is for IRL book club on Monday night. I think we‘ll have a good discussion.
I‘m late - since I‘ve landed in the States there hasn‘t been much reading or listening time but I‘m too busy catching up with friends and family to feel bad. CoW was EXCELLENT, really enjoyed Celebrants, Worst Kind was #GoodNotGreat and Western Lane was #MoreMehThanYeah
I had a GREAT reading week! LOVED Yellowface, the Paris Hilton memoir and the Haruf. I thought O‘Connell & Stevenson were lots of fun. The Medoff was #MoreMehThanYeah and I thought Old Flame was #GoodNotGreat
I had a GREAT week with really AMAZING books 🤓I actually loved them all and it‘s hard to pick a standout.
I think I forecasted ZERO of these books #LifeOfAMoodReader but I enjoyed all of them- my two favorites were Shadow of the Mountain and We All Want ImpossibleThings. The Coben was SUPER ENTERTAINING & Rum Diary was surprisingly good. The Whelan became a bit cliche and Woman Eating was oddly delicious but the ending was a bit of a disappointment. I really think Katherine Heiny is brilliant at creating quirky characters💜
I have tons of new books to get to and what do I do? Re-read a series of books for the umpteenth time.
📚 The Chronicles of St Mary's - Short stories + novels #7.7-12.0
📚 The Good, the Bad and the History - St Mary's #14 ARC
📚 This Time by Joan Szechtman
📚 Dragons at Crumbling Castle
📚 Defying the Earl (beta-ARC)
Pretending to read:
📚 Voices of the Dead (ARC)
📚 House of Leaves
#SeriesLove2023 @TheSpineView @Andrew65
#BookReport @Cinfhen
Pretty pleased with my reading this week… Despite lots of family time and then travel time I managed to finish 3 books and start 3 new ones. I bailed on Big Swiss - felt like the author was trying too had to be different 🤷🏼♀️
Late #BookReport @Cinfhen
Currently reading: Weyward
Read:
Book 16+17+short story in the Dresden Files series
Book 1 in the Sebastian St Cyr series
Book 4 in the Alex Verus series
#SeriesLove2023 @TheSpineView @Andrew65
I had a BUSY reading week and actually a busy week in general, hence why I‘m behind on a few reviews. Really enjoyed the new book by Rachel Beanland coming out in April and Babel was a total surprise pick for me! Vanderbilt was very interesting and Fatty Fatty was good but I have some thoughts…same with the Gadsby. I just COULD NOT wrap my head around My Volcano and it‘s the year for #AllHailTheBail so I quit by page 34. #NoRegrets
#BookReport @Cinfhen
Slow reading week. Have a cold and spent a lot of time watching Netflix and drinking litres of herbal tea. Finished the books on the right and left, and a woollen hat though.
Started "Proven Guilty" (and another hat).
My first week of 2023 was full of wonderful books💕📚🤓Three from @MallenNC #ALspine list were all winning picks🧡Demon Copperhead was masterful, the Exiles was really good and my two in progress are both gripping. I‘m off to a GREAT start 💜
I'm joining the #BookReport again. @Cinfhen
Death Mask was carried over from 2022.
Jade City and Secret History are DNFs.
Despite some setbacks, I managed to finish 6 books this week!
I really enjoyed the Keefe and the whacky One‘s Company. I also found the memoir by iCarly alum Jeannette McCurdy gripping. The other three were ok. I‘m stalled with my 3 in progress but hope to pick them back up this week.
I‘m happy I was able to finish 3 books this week as my days are REALLY BUSY!! I Loved both of my Tomorrow titles 😜 Cover Story was ok but nothing special. I‘m LOVING my two books in progress….fabulous memoir read by Viola Davis and the Towles is excellent. June has been a good month ❣️
I had a really fabulous week, thanks to a lot of audio time!!
Sedaris was hilarious but I think my favorite was the Booth!! Chemistry & Thunder were both very good but Thunder had terrible audio production and Chemistry was a bit too kitsch for me. I currently have two in progress, which are both good!! Tagging them below 👇🏼
#bookreport @Cinfhen
I love spring gardening!
I finished these 3 books this week, and I‘m hoping to finish Project Hail Mary today before my bookclub meeting. ❤️🌸💜
I‘m surprised by how much I read this week. One book went into #hibernation but the rest were all enjoyable. I really enjoyed my YA #SFF and my IRL bookclub book (The Lost Shtetl). The Mercies was a well written HF and I look forward to discussing with the #LiteraryCrew
Next week I hope to focus on #ReadingAfrica22 - I‘ve started the memoir by #Ethiopian born chef, Marcus Samuelsson and it‘s quite good. I think my weakest read was the romance😒
I had a pretty busy reading week - focusing on #NonFictionNovember titles and I successfully completed my #BookSpin & #DoubleSpin for November @TheAromaofBooks ♥️
Without a doubt, my weekly standout was Bourdain on audio (5 stars)and the John Green was a very close second.
November is off to a good start ☺️
Once again I‘m sort of amazed by how much I read, since it was a busy week and I didn‘t feel like I read so much. Hands down my favorite was the audio of Great Circle!!! The others were ok. I enjoyed Leslie Jordon but it was REALLY short. Review of Three coming soon.
#bookreport @Cinfhen
The first half of the week was all about a bunch of excellent books. All 5 of the finished ones were terrific.
Then I bailed on two in a row - yikes!
The Chosen and the Beautiful is a retelling of Gatsby from Jordan Baker‘s point of view. She seems bored with her life of riches and extravagant parties, and about halfway through I grew bored of watching her be bored.
Fox & I seemed strangely detached- I may come back.
#bookreport #bookspinbingo
My favorite was A Psalm for the Wild-Built. I also really liked Mirror Season, Sun-Daughters, Sea-Daughters, and Night.
Both The Book Charmer and Wizard of Oz were good, but not favorites.
I‘m currently reading 3 books not on my Bingo card, so I‘ll be filling in Free spaces next week 😉📚.
#bookreport @Cinfhen
The only one of these four I picked was The Magician‘s Assistant. The others were so-sos. Even so it‘s been a pretty good reading week.
I‘m very excited to take a trip to the recently opened Nowhere Bookshop with @Eyelit today! I‘ve been waiting over a year for this adventure! (Photos to come this evening.)
I read 8 books in May, double my usual amount; mainly because most of them were very short. The Midnight Library is my new favorite book so far this year. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I read my #LMPBC selection (mailed)
Did not read #bookspin selection
I‘m about 2/3 done on my #doublespin book
I did NOT get to read my #cbbc book but did mail it out to @Pogue last week
The Midnight Library was my #IRLBOOKCLUB read. I was the only one to ❤️ it. 🥲
#bookreport
This was a rather stressful week, I‘m shocked I actually completed 7 books. All 7 books were really good and I‘m LOVING both books I‘m in the middle of. #PeaceLoveHope Thank you to all who have reached out to check in on me and my family. Your prayers and good wishes are greatly appreciated ♥️🕊
What a wonderful week for reading!
Lots of GREAT books 😊❤️
My only dud ( and it wasn‘t terrible) was One, Two, Three and I wasn‘t overly impressed with the Woodson ( but that‘s because I‘m not much of a MG reader)
The others were all 4 & 5 star reads. I can‘t even pick a top 3 from the 6. Each book had its own special qualities.
Zadie Smith - liked a lot more than her fiction.
John Boyne - not my fave of his, clever though.
Simon Kernick- good start to a new series for me.
Angela Marsons- still great series.
Dave Ball- too many synths and too much name dropping.
V.E. Schwab - started last night and really enjoying so far.

#bookreport & #weeklyforecast @Cinfhen
- Loved the Liar‘s dictionary and was not a fan of the NK Jemisin, though that‘s not to say the writing wasn‘t good, just not for me...
- Enjoying my two current reads very much so far.....
- Hoping to start the #buddyread later this week 🤞
Another great reading week although I still haven‘t picked up the one ARC I‘ve been “meaning” to, instead I listened to 2 #AudioArc(s) this week. I REALLY enjoyed The Wife Upstairs and thought the true crime #ARC was ok, nothing special. I LOVED listening to Amy Poehler and enjoyed Lot Six. In print I found both The Editor & Arctic Fury to be satisfying reads however The Lager Queen was a definite disappointment.
I had another great reading/ listening week 🤓🎧💕 December is a tricky month, as I won‘t start books that I‘m excited about because I‘m saving them for 2021 challenges. So I‘m excited that I found a few books not really on my #ReadingRadar that were surprise hits💗
#bookreport & #weeklyforecast together again, as it‘s not worth separating this poor showing! 😂🤦♀️
I‘ve basically lived at work this week, so reading time has been scarce.
Red, White and blue was cute, steamy and likable. I‘m not much of a romance reader, but the banter was fun, and it was a nice distraction😊👍
Enjoying my NetGalley which I hope to finish tomorrow on my day off....
Next up will be my #bookspin ...... whatever that may be!
#bookreport and #weeklyforecast @Cinfhen
Loved the Harpy, enjoyed my re-read and Zoom bookclub for Twenty-One Truths about Love, and the audiobook of Lab Girl was good but not great.
Currently reading Such a Fun Age for another bookclub, and Addie Larue is a library hold that just became available 😊👍📚
My reading has been in the shitster, but that‘s ok....I‘m in family mode and it‘s all good ❤️🥰I did finish 2 books this week, both were good. I‘ve put Shadow King in hibernation and had to let The Eighth Life go. I don‘t expect to get much reading done next week but we‘ll see...
#bookreport & #weeklyforecast
Not feeling it this week, so ended up mostly browsing cookbooks which always makes me feel better! Ina‘s new book is fab and The Shore was a surprise gift!
Finished my ARC of The Orchard, which sadly was disappointing...I think the comparisons to The Secret History set my expectations way too high!
Started Eileen which so far has a creepy noir-ish vibe....and next up are 2 #NetGalley titles that release soon 📚💕
#BookReport Part one
Here‘s the pile I attempted over the Holiday weekend
Made it to page 11 on Crimson 🤪not a good sign, but my concentration was shit all weekend
I‘m making progress with The Parisian...I like it, it‘s just a very dense read...LOTS OF WORDS!!!!! LITTLE action
I finished the other 3 but I honestly, don‘t know what I read...I didn‘t enjoy any of them ( but again, that‘s probably my own doing) My headspace isn‘t quite there🙄
I had an ok reading week but I really enjoyed 3 of the books.
Sea Wife, Unseen World and Death of Vivek Oji were all really good.
