I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You (Gallagher Girls, Book 1)
I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You (Gallagher Girls, Book 1) | Ally Carter
50 posts | 157 read | 58 to read
Cammie Morgan is a student at the Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women, a fairly typical all-girls schoolthat is, if every school taught advanced martial arts in PE and the latest in chemical warfare in science, and students received extra credit for breaking CIA codes in computer class. The Gallagher Academy might claim to be a school for geniuses but it's really a school for spies. Even though Cammie is fluent in fourteen languages and capable of killing a man in seven different ways, she has no idea what to do when she meets an ordinary boy who thinks she's an ordinary girl.

1. We homeschool, so I had to look this up. In our area, school starts on Tuesday, September 6.

2. I love the Gallagher Girls books that take place in a spy school. They're tons of fun. The tagged book is the first in the series.

I first picked up this book in my school library about 8/9 years ago, I never read it, I just liked the cover. After my birthday I went out on a limb and ordered the complete Gallagher girls collection and after reading just the 1st book it‘s fair to say it does not disappoint. The perfect book for anyone who loves a bit of action / spy material but isn‘t great with all the violence, crime and death
I gave this book 5 stars ✨

It‘s a very weird thing to feel bummed about missing out on something approximately 15 years after it even happened... but that‘s pretty much how I felt when I recently read the first book in Ally Carter‘s Gallagher series for the latest episode of my podcast. It‘s basically a case of retroactive FOMO, and I‘m feeling sorry for the teenaged version of me who never got around to reading these books! Tune in for my discussion at the link in my bio.

This was a really cute middle grade read. I actually really enjoyed this even though it's clearly for younger readers. I thought the girls were pretty realistically 15.... besides the spy thing haha The setting is great and the plot is cheesy and fun! This series reminds me of pretty little liars, and I loved those books!! I cant wait to keep reading about the Gallagher Girls!

Couldn't find this one on Litsy.
I loved the Gallagher Girls series, but this Audible Original prequel was just not good. There wasn't much of a story, and I didn't care for the narrator. Fortunately it was free. And short.

IndoorDame Too bad, I was hoping you‘d end up enjoying this one more than I had. Oh well, as you said, at least we didn‘t pay for it 6y
Traci1 @IndoorDame yeah it was disappointing. I might have enjoyed it more if I remembered the first couple of books more. It has been a while since I read those. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan I think that I never finished the Gallagher Girl series because I got distracted by other shiny books! I will probably steer clear of this one though based on what y‘all are saying. 6y

This is the prequel to the tagged book. Free on audible this month. Quick read with a cute premiere but not very compelling. Not interested in continuing this series.

Traci1 That's disappointing. I picked this as one of my two for the month (along with the Stanley Tucci one). I liked the series (the first few books anyway) and was looking forward to the prequel. 6y

5/5⭐
The first book from the Gallagher Academy Series!
A story about a teen girl, whose mum is the head mistress in the school. A school where they teach you all about spying and killing people.
But when on a mission, a girl suddenly falls in love, but the problem is - she was never trained for that!

Highly recommended - full review on my blog.

diaryofdifference @LibrarianRyan that's okay - I actually prefer this cover over the other one 💕🌼 6y
LibrarianRyan @innah96 there are about six covers. I‘m not a fan of the modern cover but they are not bad. The original cover is similar to yours but less Amish looking. 6y

Day 1 of #agameoffavorites I picked an author who writes a lot of YA books.
This is Ally Carter, growing up her favorite book was To Kill A Mockingbird and her love of that book continues today. She had other influences such as Nancy Drew, The Great Gatsby and The Outsiders. My favorite book of hers is actually a series of books, The Gallagher Girls, the series is about a girls spy school.

@ErinSueG @WhiskeyMistress

Erinsuereads So fun! I‘ve never read anything by her actually. I‘ll check her out. Anyone with those influences is bound to write at some point in their life hhaha 6y
AsYouWish @ErinSueG Her books are amazing! So many strong female characters, who are all super relatable. She had a lot of tv and movie influences too, which all made sense to the type of books she writes. 6y
Erinsuereads That‘s awesome! That‘s what our girls in this world need! 6y

It was mostly fluffy, funny, romantic comedy. I was in the mood so this worked well for me. A fast read. There were some intense moments because this is a spy school but I do feel conflicted about that concluding test.

Here's a series for #spystories and #dysfunctionalfamilies! Cammie Morgan is a student at a secret school for girl spies, her mother is the headmistress, and her dad is MIA. This series is a lot of fun and a bit of a comfort read for me, I love to read them when I'm ill, as they're diverting but not challenging. The books don't match, unfortunately, as I bought them all at different times/places. #YA #photoadaynov16

Good start to a series centered on a school that appears to be a fancy-pants private school for rich girls. Appearances can be deceiving. It's for super smart girls training to be spies. Lots of humor and references to Buffy. Very light romance so safe for preteens/early teen even though the main characters are sophomores in high school. There is mention of violence but it is a school for spies so what do you expect?
