I love this series so much! It‘s comfort reading at its finest ❤️❤️ a lot of betrayal in this story and Charlotte‘s and Lord Ingram‘s personal story heats up 🥰🥰
These books just keep getting better and better. Lady Ingram is found dead on the Ingram estate. Did Lord Ingram kill his wife. Charlotte Holmes, Lord Ingram‘s longtime friend, assists him in his endeavor to prove his innocence and find the real culprit. #SeriesLove2024 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
Moriarty's shadow looms large. First, Charlotte's half brother disappears. Then, Lady Ingram, the estranged wife of Charlotte's close friend Lord Ingram, turns up dead on his estate. And all signs point to Lord Ingram as the murderer.
With Scotland Yard closing in, Charlotte goes under disguise to seek out the truth. But uncovering the truth could mean getting too close to Lord Ingram--and a number of malevolent forces...
And yes, I did go out of town for 2 days and bring 4 books with me
I‘m completely hooked on this series! There is so much that happened in this book that advanced so many storylines. I like how Inspector Treadles inner battle with investigating his friend Lord Ingram with Charolette in disguise also affected his life.I also enjoyed that Charolette‘s sisters were more involved as well as Ash‘s brothers. There is too much to say, amazing mystery that I was never close to solving and more twists right to the end.

I finished Book 3 in the Lady Sherlock series a couple of days ago & I‘m midway through Book 4. Not going to give many details because I think half the fun of these books is not knowing much going into them. (BTW this series is definitely a read-in-order one—otherwise you‘ll get lost.) This is my favorite of the three—the story is compelling with great twists & there‘s plenty of Holmes & Ash time. I ❤️ their banter.
Mahalo @Eggs for the #WondrousWednesday tag! 🤗
1️⃣ All time: Elizabeth Bennet, P&P. Lately Charlotte Holmes from tagged book/series
2️⃣ All time: Inigo Montoya & Fezzik, The Princess Bride. Lately Lord Ingram (Ash) from tagged book/series.
3️⃣ Currently obsessed with the Lady Sherlock series- tagged book is one of my current reads. Also listening to The Boy Who Cried Bear (new) Haven‘s Rock series + Litsy readalongs.
Have you played yet?
Book 3 in the Lady Sherlock series is my favorite so far. This one was very hard to put down and I continue to get more and more invested in these characters. I‘d highly recommend this series on audiobook! 5⭐️

Good golly this was one hell of a ride. I think this is my favorite in the series so far. Seeing charlotte in so many disguises was a highlight, as was the structure of the plot - so well done- and the growth of the character of inspector Treadles. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a “pick, but” book. I love the characters and it was a fascinating mystery with lots of twists and turns that I didn‘t expect. However, it had been a while since I read the previous book in the series, and it wasn‘t until I was halfway through that I felt I had a grasp on all the characters and the backstory. I‘ll probably read the next one relatively soon so it doesn‘t happen again.
I am woefully behind in this series, so this will help me get caught up, plus be a nice change from my last read.
My neighbour took pity on me and came round with a super power power drill. I now have a ceiling hook on the balcony and one in my bedroom.
Reading in the hammock-seat is on!!!
So looking forward to enjoying some me-time and the last days of the #NutsInMay swaying in this seat.

I‘m really glad I was out of audiobooks to listen to and this series was available on audio!
This is the 3rd book in the series and it was so good! I got a little annoyed by the back and forth between the gossipy ladies at one point so I had to take a day break.
But I didn‘t see any of the mystery coming. I was very surprised. If I wasn‘t paying close enough attention I would have gotten confused by going back in time, but luckily I caught it
I‘ve been meaning to continue on with this series since I discovered it a few years ago. It was hard to get into the 3rd book, since it‘s been so long since I read the first two, and it‘s impossible to find a good summary of the second book anywhere on the internet. Overall, loved the character development and the interplay between the main cast of characters. But the mystery plot was way too convoluted for me to be invested in that component.
One of my unofficial goals of the year is to make progress on some of the many series I‘ve started. I‘m enjoying this gender swapped Sherlock Holmes a lot. Charlotte Holmes is a fun character. I like the pacing of the mystery along with the continuing parts of the series. Even Inspector Treddles gets some character growth in this one!
Third book in the series and best book in the series (so far...)
This is the third book in Sherry Thomas‘s Lady Sherlock series — another cozy mystery set in Victorian England. Charlotte Holmes returns, under the cover of "Sherlock Holmes, consulting detective”. Charlotte puts her extraordinary powers of deduction (it runs in the family) to good use, aided by the capable Mrs. Watson.
Another excellent update! This series is without a doubt my favorite Sherlock retelling. I‘m a huge Sherlock Holmes fan. I‘ve read and own all the originals. I also love the rewrites, and modernizations, and other adjacent works, but this series is something else. It is unique and perfect. I admire Charlotte, and adore her sister Livia who is prominently featured. I can‘t wait to start the next one! #sherlock #retelling
Another fun adventure in the Lady Sherlock series! I very much enjoyed myself - a perfect accompaniment to the holiday weekend.
Thanks for the tag @Chrissyreadit
When the night turn chilly & foggy it‘s time to return to Sherlock stories!
For the first time I‘ve started putting together a pile for books to read at Christmas- it‘s more to help me believe the holidays are coming rather than a representation of what I‘ll actually read!
Dinner is home made chicken biryani with chilli, mint & mango chutney.
Feel good TV - Australian Masterchef!

I spent a good portion of my day lounging in bed and listening to this book while my husband entertained the kids downstairs. It was a really nice break from the stresses of work!
Clearly working hard during my prep period today... I should probably get caught up on grading, but I think its gonna wait until tomorrow 🤷♀️
Wow, this third outing in the series had A LOT going on. When Charlotte‘s friend, Lord Ingram, is accused of/set up for the murder of his estranged wife, she must wade through a twisty bog of motives, revenge and hidden agendas to save his life. What I love most about this series is that in Charlotte we have a very complicated and unique heroine, who is by turns frustrating to the reader but also admired for her originality both as a woman and 🔻
Book 69
I'm a sucker for Sherlock Holmes AND for stories inspired by him.
This is a fun twist where the main characters are Gender Swapped. I have particularly enjoyed that Ms Thomas does a good job showing the lack of freedom women had during that time period, being only the property of father or husband rather than their own person. A passing mention of women's votes was in this story too. Very enjoyable and I'm looking forward to the next.
"A woman can dislike another for reasons having nothing to do with a man."
A truth many men, and many books, seem not to know!
Such a brilliant series - love Lady Sherlock! This book has all the key ingredients - cross dressing disguises, fake moustaches, manor house murders, female wit with a sprinkle of sexy, delicious french pastries and good humour. My one criticism (which was actually a comfort!) - is this feels more like a second part of the previous book in the series - as it's all connected to that story, rather than a new story. Minor quibble - love these books!
Japan 🇯🇵
I‘ve read a lot more mysteries during this time and my favorite was probably The Hollow of Fear! But I am Half-sick of Shadows was also very good! 🕵️♀️
I like any length novel, so it depends on my mood. 📖
The Hollow of Fear is my favorite book so far in the Lady Sherlock series! Clever disguises and plot twists really made this one stand out!
And this is book 9 and probably the last for this month‘s #bookspinbonanza 📚
#AprilStats
I only read two books, one early on in the month, and the other just barely at the end. They weren't even that long, only 449 pages total. But I did assemble my new book cart, so that's something. I'll post a pic of that sometime soon. I'm still organizing.
Tagged is my favorite of the two books of April.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5)
This was a 3.5 to 4 ⭐ read for me until the superb twist at the end pushed it up to 5⭐ status. I really enjoy this series.

Next up is A Room with a View borrowed from #PrimeReading. Similar, yet not really. Having a hard time getting into it.
Forgot to screen grab my monthly stats on #Bookstalk, so no multiple pics for my March reading. I finished four books last month.

I began the tagged book, which I will probably finish in a couple days. I really enjoy the #LadySherlock series, although this one has a bit more romance in it.

As Old as Time and Heidi were pretty easy reads which seems what I need right now. Each 3🌟
I bailed on Midnight in Chernobyl for now. Just couldn‘t concentrate.
Court of Thorns I will finish on audio but not sure I will continue with the series. Just started the other two.
Hope everyone is sheltered in safely and has what they need. Take care!
Just binge reading all the lady Sherlock books.

1. I admit that I do, although I try not to let that be the sole reason I pick up a book.
2. Tagged. I‘m addicted to Bookbub, and they have my number 😄
3. Online subscription to Washington Post, plus The Guardian and Slate websites. I‘m a news junkie.
4. Up immediately. What is this snooze of which you speak? 🤣

This series...I can't quite tell if I like it or if I'm just "meh" about it. I like that it's a gender-swapped Sherlock Holmes. I like that it's a Victorian woman carving out her own rules and life in a seriously restrictive time. And I like the traditional Sherlockian elements that are woven throughout. I just don't know that I like the mysteries. Which, when you're reading a book that's supposed to be about a mystery, is kind of the point.
Listened to a lot of this on the drive back today, esp since I got stuck in 2 hrs worth of traffic outside Columbus. I may never return to Ohio.
This is the last one to re-read before the 4th book comes out in October!
This series keeps getting better and better! So much at stake, but as Charlotte says in her speech to Lord Ingram. “But don‘t forget, sir, that I am a queen upon this board - and I do not play to lose.” ❤️❤️❤️
Book four due in October. So ready to see what happens next!
I love this series so much. Charlotte is such an engaging heroine for all that she doesn‘t feel things like “normal” people, the mystery is good and the running plot is clever and intriguing. I broke all sorts of my own rules after I finished this and preordered the next one.
