Winter Storms | Elin Hilderbrand
Gather under the mistletoe for one last round of caroling with the Quinn family in this heartwarming conclusion to Elin Hilderbrand's bestselling Winter Street Trilogy. Some of the stormy weather of the past few seasons seems to have finally lifted for the Quinns. After a year apart, and an ill-fated affair with the Winter Street Inn's old Santa Claus, Mitzi has returned to rule the roost; Patrick is about to be released from prison; Kevin has a successful new business and is finally ready to tie the knot with Isabelle; and best of all, there's hopeful news about Bart, who has been captured by enemy forces in Afghanistan. That doesn't mean there aren't a few dark clouds on the horizon. Kelley has recently survived a health scare; Jennifer can't quite shake her addiction to the drugs she used as a crutch while Patrick was in jail; and Ava still can't decide between the two lovers that she's been juggling with limited success. However, if there's one holiday that brings the Quinn family together to give thanks for the good times, it's Christmas. And this year promises to be a celebration unlike any other as the Quinns prepare to host Kevin and Isabelle's wedding at the inn. But as the special day approaches, a historic once-in-a-century blizzard bears down on Nantucket, threatening to keep the Quinns away from the place--and the people--they love most. Before the snow clears, the Quinns will have to survive enough upheavals to send anyone running for the spiked eggnog, in this touching novel that proves that when the holidays roll around, you can always go home again.

Three Winter Street books in 3 days is some kind of record for me. Not much else to say that I haven‘t already said except that I highly recommend this series if you haven‘t read it! 5⭐️ 80 points.

marleed For years I‘ve had the last 3 books in hardback but the first in paperback. This summer I finally found a thrifted hard copy of winter streets in mint condition- and for about $2. I was giddy with excitement because it‘s a 5* series for me! 11h
JenlovesJT47 @marleed awesome! I agree, 5 star series. I own the first and last book in hardcover but now I listen to the audiobooks every year. They are so good and it‘s such an immersive experience. 💚 11h

12-25-23: My 103rd finished book of 2023! Book 3 of the series. It was written as if it were the last one so there was a lot of resolutions for the main characters be it in love, marriage, family, war, addiction. This one got me a little bit. I definitely shed a tear towards the end but was pleasantly surprised to see the author decided to write one more book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣1️⃣0️⃣3️⃣

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The third book of this series was still enjoyable, but felt tamer and more somber than the first two. Many story arcs were mostly wrapped up well, if conveniently. It‘s interesting that this was supposed to be a trilogy, but then she added a fourth installment. I didn‘t expect one plot line to go in such a sad direction - I don‘t know if I‘m emotionally prepared for the last book!

Naturally, being so invested, I had to keep going. This one was equally as fast paced drama. What I liked most about this one was that it presented more healing, recovery and self discovery. The drama has depth. Can‘t wait to see how the series wraps up.

I read this entire book today-haven‘t done that in a long time. I love this series so much, way down deep in my soul. It was particularly comforting to me several years ago after my dad passed, and every year when I reread it, something new stands out to me.

EvieBee I love books like that! I feel this exact same way about Mansfield Park which I started for the same reason. It was so comforting. 3y

I sped through book 3 of the Winter Street series & am already almost done with book 4. 😬 I‘ve now read the series 4 times & I never get tired of it. It‘s perfect to read at this time of year & I think one of the reasons I like it so much is despite all of the drama in the Quinn family, it is done in a realistic way & makes them seem more like real people. I‘d highly recommend this series! 4⭐️+26

Eh, the only thing that kept me listening was the investment I already have in the Quinn family, and wanting to find out if there was a resolution to one of the storylines that started in the first book. See my spoiler comment below for thoughts on that.

The Ava chapters continued to really annoy me. I hope there are less of her chapters in the final book.

#pop21 same title as a 🎶 (Winter Storm by Joshua James)

alisiakae I am slightly furious that having Bart‘s POW story threaded to all 3 books, his reunion with Mitzi, Kelley, and most of his siblings took place off page. The transition was so awkward, and I was really annoyed to be denied that reunion as a reader! Okay, rant over. 4y
KathyWheeler I had issues with Ava too, and I also agree with you about what you said under the spoiler alert — it was disappointing. 4y

This was supposed to be the last book in this trilogy. We continue with family Quinn drama but in this particular book we are going to see more sad parts than funny ones. Some issues are resolved. Even though we can predict the future of one of the characters, it has an open end. How much I😢but then there is a 4th book. Let‘s see what motivated the author to write this 4th book.3.75/8⭐️#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaOfBooks #Lockdownreadathon @squidget

This is the third book in the Winter series by Elin Hilderbrand. The drama for the Quinn family continues, some issues from previous books resolve, but new drama unfolds. It almost feels like this one could have wrapped the series up, but there‘s one more book in the series. I‘m glad, because this was my least favorite, even with some of the joyous happenings. This was between 3-4 stars for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

CoffeeAndABook Ha! Just finished reading this one today as well. Also felt like it‘s a wrap and am surprised that there‘s one more installment. Might save that for next year‘s holiday season though... 4y
Elizabeth2 @CoffeeAndABook so funny that you felt that way too. I feel validated. 😂 I finished last night and really thought that was it. Really took my time with this reread even though Christmas has come and gone. After losing my dad a few months ago, I appreciate patriarch Kelley Quinn more in this installment than I ever before. I love everyone‘s progression as individuals and as family. This isn‘t everyone‘s favorite in the series, but at this moment it is mine. I‘m so glad there‘s another book to read but it is also bittersweet because I always dread the end of the series.

Things get mostly, but not totally, wrapped up for the Quinn family in Winter Storms. I thought this was a trilogy since even Hilderbrand said she was sad to be finished with these characters, but there‘s another book. I still dislike Ava and feel that, though we are supposed to view her as having grown, she never grows beyond a petulant brat (even though she‘s 30 something.) That said, I like the characters enough to read another book about them.

After reading this for the 2nd time, I didn‘t like book 3 as much as I did when I read it last year. I‘m still giving it a pick because I love the series as a whole, but this one felt like mostly boring filler. Only the last 10% or less had to do with Christmas, and that part of the story was rushed. 3.5⭐️ I‘m still going to read book 4 again even though it breaks my heart! 😭💔

If there‘s one thing I can say about Hilderbrand‘s Winter series it‘s that they are super easy to read. No real surprises this time around in the Quinn family adventures. In fact, the only possible surprise would be that at some point this book was meant to have wrapped up the trilogy, but then a fourth (and final?) book was added. Needless to say I like to finish what I started, so I‘m on to that next!

huntersmom1977 Question: Which author do you compare her writing to? Just curious because some of her books are on my TBR. Never read her books yet. Thanks 😊 (edited) 7y
Purrfectpages @huntersmom1977 I guess she‘d fall somewhere in the middle of Debbie Macomber and Kristin Hannah. Sometimes I find Macomber to be too cheesy, and Hannah probably does the best out of the three in getting you to invest in the characters. Many other authors are similar to this style too, these are just the first ones that come to mind. 7y
