In a mansion, then reform school, now dorm at a prestigious boarding school in Maine, 11 students and staff find themselves trapped during a winter storm surge. Overnight, Headmaster Boddy turns up stabbed and the murderer must be present.
Inspired by the board game, our characters all have secrets that keep the reader guessing at the murderer's identity. I kept wavering as to who I thought it was. Enjoyable if light, looking forward to Book 2.

This was a fun Clue reimagining. Students at a boarding school are trapped during a storm and the headmaster is found dead in the morning. Each has a secret to hide and a possible motive for murder. It was interestingly told from multiple perspectives, leaning into the unreliable narrators.

I read this book because I love of the movie Clue, the game Clue and the elementary book series based on Clue - I love Clue!
Did I love this book? Not entirely. Liked the trapped in a boarding school during a storm aspect, but some character were referred to by color name (as in the game) and others were called by a different name (Plum = Finn), so sometime it was difficult to remember who was who. Overall the book was okay. Recommend!

An official CLUE mystery. Scarlett, Mustard, Green& the rest are stranded at a prestigious private school in podunk Maine (ayuh) during a storm. A murder is committed & they pry into eachothers motivations, rule out suspects, crawl through secret passages & mop up *so much* evidence…

Set up as a trilogy, the main story concludes but there‘s plenty of other threads to pull. Character interactions were superficial but the story was cohesive.

4 ⭐ This is an officially licensed Clue mystery. Yes, as in the game from Hasbro. As the title suggests we know how somebody is going to die: In the hall with a knife, but who will it be. Our game takes place in Tudor house on a peninsula in northern Maine. Tudor house is a girl‘s dorm at a budding science academy for only the biggest brains with the biggest pockets. Meh. I guessed the murderer almost immediately after it happened, and the author tried to do a red herring, but made it too obvious that it was a red herring. Parts with Vaughn‘s twin felt confusing and they never explained it. Also, I felt like there were too many characters and were told from too many perspectives. But for some reason I was still intrigued and still wanted to read it? 3⭐️

So I confess I've never seen the Clue movie, so had no trouble imagining the characters as teens in an exclusive boarding school in a snowstorm.
Murderer is found, but it's a series so hints of more secrets to unravel.

Got a lot of reading done yesterday despite working! Finished our team read and started a re-read of In the Hall with the Knife so I can begin book 2, In the Study with the Wrench for book club next weekend. 151pts for #Scarathlon2020 #TeamHarkness @StayCurious @Screamathon

This was between a pick a a so-so. I had trouble rating it because I felt that it was just too young for me. I guessed the killer before there was even a death, but it was still cute and the characters were fun. I'd give it 3.5 🌟s and I will read the next one for book club.

This was a fun mystery that was based off the board game CLUE. The story takes place at an elite prep school, where a few students and faculty are stuck on campus due to a storm.

By all means it wasn‘t spectacular but the books is a quick, easy read that kept me entertained. CLUE was one of my favorite board games growing up and I also love the movie.

Very simplistic in its style, and a little bumpy in places, but it‘s a CLUE pastiche! CLUE!!! After a childhood (and adulthood) spent defending my undefeated CLUE championship title, I feel like there was no way that I couldn‘t have loved this book – and I did! Looking forward to the next book in the series!

As a huge fan of the 1985 movie, I found this absolutely delightful. It‘s a fast read, and I didn‘t realize it‘s the first of a planned trilogy, but I‘m not even mad about the cliffhanger ending (the original murder is solved, but everyone has secrets and we don‘t learn them all!). Set at an elite boarding school in a remote Maine town, my expectations for the book were really low, so I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy it. 😆

THIS is the way evenings are supposed to end: #bookandBailey. I loved spending time with my old accounting team in Raleigh and meeting my new project team, but it is so good to be home with my girl. 💖💖 The book is light and campy, so I‘m looking forward to getting a few pages in before I pass out. 😆

Well, if I can‘t be home with Bailey, sitting in my hotel room with cheesecake and a campy book isn‘t half bad. 😆

Currently at 12 1/2 hours for #24b4Monday. I might get another hour/hour and a half in before bed.

This was a lot of fun. Recommended for fans of Riverdale and Nancy Drew. Just a fun, YA mystery book inspired by Clue.

This was a delightful start to the series! Of course, the author pretty much had me at the title and A Clue Mystery tag, but then she set it in a boarding school and I was helpless to resist! Can't wait to see what the next book brings! Book 3 of 2020. #audiobook #tbr

I liked the idea of this mystery a lot, but it fell off a bit for me midway through. Also, I like series, but hate when they leave too much hanging to the end. I‘m not sure I will continue with the series, but I did love the concept. Also because no one will ever top Clue the movie!!

I love the board game Clue, so I thought this book looked like a fun tribute to it. I expected it to be quirky or madcap or campy but it wasn't. It was kind of dull. It's kind of amusing to read if you're a fan of the game or movie, but otherwise there's not much appeal.

Had a great time at the Baltimore Book Festival today! I met Diana Peterfreund and discovered she‘s written a book based on the Clue game (tagged book). Clue is my favorite board game, so now I‘m psyched to read this book! I also met Pintip Dunn, and got her book Forget Tomorrow. 😊📚 #baltimorebookfestival

So... I have a slightly more detailed review on goodreads, but for now: this was disappointing and I think that‘s my own fault because I love Clue so much lol. This is not really a “solve” type mystery and there wasn‘t much investigating. And it‘s part of I believe a trilogy, so overall too many unanswered questions. A quick and pretty enjoyable otherwise read though!

If you're a Clue fan, I think you'll love this one. It's very much a YA read but author Diana Peterfreund does a great job paying homage to the original (game, books, movie, etc). #mystery, #ya
