I am completely enamored with this book - Ms. Bev has done it again! The first of the Destiny Trilogy, featuring the absolute whirlwind of a romance between east coast city girl Mariah Cooper, and west coast grumpy rancher Logan Yates.
〰️
Mariah‘s journey west to escape a hum-drum life is something that really resonated with me. She wanted so badly to strike out on her own. This was a fantastic start to the trilogy. Give it a whirl!
Not my favorite of Ms Bev's but I can't wait for the rest of the series and to talk about it on Corset and Crown!
“I think I‘d like my destiny to be with you, but you won‘t marry me, so I‘ll have to look for someone else.”
Finishing up Destiny‘s Embrace by Ms. Bev with my coffee!
Based in historical California, each Yates brother (plus the matriarch of the family) has different circumstances leading to love, and they all prove delightfully entertaining (with a touch of danger, too). I enjoyed binging this series. #bookspinbingo #readblackauthors
This book was so good! I loved Mariah and Logan. There wasn‘t much angst in this book, just a sweet love story.
Mariah wants to leave Philadelphia so she answers an advertisement for a housekeeper in California. She and Logan butt heads right away. He‘s used to being the boss and she‘s ready to start standing up for herself. The secondary characters were also fabulous.
I read to learn. I normally do not read romance because they do not have anything to teach. This book broke the romance mold in my opinion. I learned about some California history, early black pioneers and their contributions to US expansion, and integration of several different cultures in the 1880s - including native and the early Spanish. This is my favorite type of romance - the two biting each other's heads off till they realize the love.
Had a book outing where I picked up these three books and got them signed by the authors!
Ms Bev is super nice to talk to and knowledgeable about her craft!
Can‘t wait to read this book and number two, so I can read the third book about the pirate 🏴☠️ brother!
Comfort read!
This book didn‘t quite meet the expectations I had for BJ. The writing was only so-so and the MC becomes a completely different person overnight just by deciding to do so. That said, it was still super fun to read. I loved the characters, the setting, and the story, and I‘ll definitely be checking out other books in this series.
This book was fine. I don't have much to say about it, since I didn't feel strongly about anything in the book. I wonder how the other two books in the series are. Has anyone read them?
I thought I'd plug in the books I'd read so far this year to see how I'm doing, and I only have 7 books left to complete the #LitsyAtoZ #challenge. I am doing MUCH better than I had expected to be considering it's only March. 📚
Some great prices on historicals over at Amazon! #romantsy #historicalromance #kindle #deal
I really loved Forbidden and followed it up with this one. This one didn't catch me quite the same. I definitely will check out the next in the series though! #romantsy
Two in one: #DressesOnCovers and #DreamingOfAWarmerClimate. This is next up on the Kindle for me, I think it's set in California and if they're in this state of undress outdoors then it must be warm out! 😉 This is also my first romance that doesn't star a white couple which I'm excited about.

Time for some Ms. Bev! #romantsy #historicalromance
I'm not saying that I'm now a romance fan but this particular book was pretty fun.

Finally reading Beverly Jenkins. Can't believe it has taken me this long. Enjoying so far . . .
The best thing about owning a Kindle:
You can read a trashy, romance novel and no one can tell what you're reading.
My first Beverly Jenkins did not disappoint. Very romantic, sensual, and great secondary characters that you can tell will be even more fleshed out as the series continues. #ReadWomen #ReadHarder2016
Waaaah. Been reading in the car, now have to go into work. Don't wanna! ☹️📚
My first Litsy post! I can already tell I'm going to love this app. 💕📚💕📚💕📚💕📚💕📚 Reading my first Beverly Jenkins as part of Book Riot's Read Harder 2016 Challenge!
