#SundayFunday @BookmarkTavern

The Beatrix Potter series is always a good place to start. Also, Dr. Seuss and A. A. Milne.

BookmarkTavern Oh the Beatrix Potter stories are an excellent choice! Thanks for posting! 14mo

I appreciate the charming images and the insights into rural life of over a century in the past (Potter herself had a farm), but it comes with the occasional brutal honesty of the relationship between predator and prey, and between domesticated animals and humans raising them for food. Fellow vegans beware! This collection offers insights the individual books don't: failing eye sight vs earlier exquisite art, which tales Potter favoured. 1/2

Robotswithpersonality 2/2 I think my favourite tale is Johnny Town-Mouse. Also happens to be one of the stories which demonstrates the dichotomy of some of the animals wearing clothes sometimes and sometimes not. I feel like society could learn something from this. 😉 14mo
JanuarieTimewalker13 Oh, yeah, will skip this. I‘ve had enough horror regarding animals and humans one Vegan can take from reading Holly. I do appreciate how King made the Vegan the smartest victim, however. She refused to do what her captives wanted her to do. That‘s all I‘ll say in case you read the book. 14mo
Robotswithpersonality @JanuarieTimewalker13 No idea what 'Holly' is, but now I feel warned off, thanks! 14mo

JanuarieTimewalker13 Holly is Stephen King‘s newest. It‘s an excellent read, with the exception of gagging through some of it. Lol There‘s no animal abuse, it‘s more what the humans have to eat that makes it especially gross for Vegans (edited) 14mo
Robotswithpersonality @JanuarieTimewalker13 No gagging for me! 🫣 Thanks for the info! 😊 14mo
JanuarieTimewalker13 I don‘t want to put you off King….he‘s a master storyteller. If you haven‘t read him, start with The Institute….excellent…more paranormal thriller-y then horror. 14mo
Robotswithpersonality @JanuarieTimewalker13 no worries on the King front, I did The Stand and Salem's Lot as a teen, loved 11/22/63 a few years ago, and didn't mind Fairy Tale earlier this year. 14mo

I have been enjoying looking over these stories I told my kids when they were little. Including a few I has never heard of. We have been busy with spring preparation in the garden this week so not a lot of time to sit and immerse myself in a book. But it‘s been nice to get things started outside.

Aylandra Its been such a long time since I've read those stories :) Really should try and find them 3y
Darklunarose @Aylandra they are re beautiful. And the illustrations are amazing. I like this copy of them as they tell you a bit about beatrixes life with each story. 3y

Next up on my book lost is this, he‘s a children‘s collection but I‘m going to take a walk back, not to my own child hood as I don‘t remember these stories from then, but to my children‘s childhoods when I would read them Beatrix potter books a lot.

While I loved the illustrations, I was quite disappointed with the stories.

Buechersuechtling Yepp, it‘s astonishing how easy it is to have homemade Nutella, isn‘t it❓ And yes, I also think it‘s way better than that offered by the supermarket. – Congratulations on your find. I hope your kids also appreciate it. 4y
Deifio @Buechersuechtling Ha, as if! My kids prefer their Ovomaltine spread! 😒 4y
Buechersuechtling @Deifio So, the Nutella is all yours then❓ – Perfect. 👌🏼 4y

On this very cold, frigid winter day i need a hug. One of the best hug in book form are the tales Of Beatrix Potter. #survivingdecember

mrp27 I agree! I really enjoyed the movie too. They are making a new Peter Rabbit movie and from the movie trailer it looks awful! 😡Not in the spirit of Ms.Potter at all! 7y
batsy I really enjoyed the movie and it does feel a bit like a hug in a movie form 🙂 7y

Well-read in this audiobook version. Cute voice variations for the animals. I‘m not a big animal person but I really enjoy that these are moral stories in which the good animals/people are rewarded for their goodness and naughty animals receive just consequences for their actions. Makes me feel like all is right in the world when I hear the stories.

Read out loud to my daughter, who LOVES Jeremy Fisher. Not quite as charming as Winnie the Pooh, but still enchanting. It's enough just to look at the illustrations. Some of the stories seemed rather silly to me, but Potter's voice was still clever and enjoyable. A childhood classic for good reason.

My #favplacetorelax is probably in my son's nursery, sitting in the rocker reading to him at bedtime. I received this cozy lamp from my grandmother and something about it transports me from muggy, scorching Florida to somewhere I need a blanket and cup of hot cocoa. ☺️ #Augustofbooks #augustphotochallenge
