Paris for One and Other Stories
Paris for One and Other Stories | Jojo Moyes
113 posts | 117 read | 6 reading | 60 to read
From the sensational #1 "New York Times "bestselling author Jojo Moyes, the perfect gift hardcover, timed for Christmas--a novella and short story collection never published before in the United States. Nell is twenty-six and has never been to Paris. She's never even been on a romantic weekend away to anywhere before. Everyone knows travelling abroad isn't really her thing. But when Nell's boyfriend fails to show up for their romantic mini-vacation, she has the opportunity to prove everyone including herself wrong. Alone and in Paris, Nell uncovers a version of herself she never knew existed: independent and intrepid. Could this turn out to be the most adventurous weekend of her life? Funny, charming, and irresistible, "Paris for One"is vintage Moyes as are the other stories that round out the collection."

The book had a cute story. Girl just goes through life being comfortable and just this once she steps out of her comfort zone and has the time of her life. The short stories were cute and it was a quick read.

KellyK I found this on my Kindle yesterday; had forgotten all about it. February seems like a good month to delve into it. ❤️ 3y
Geemom1118 @KellyK Oh that is awesome. It is always fun when you find one that you forgot you had. Yes, February is a good time for this type of book. Enjoy!♥️ 3y

Sometimes short stories are hard to get into, but this is an exception. I've loved Jojo Moyes ever since I read 'Me Before You.' I'd give anything she writes a try. Pleasantly surprised that I liked this one. The first story is plenty long enough to really become invested in and enjoy. The shorter stories at the end were each pretty good as well!

A collection of one novella and eight short stories.

The title story was delightful but the one I liked the most was “Holdups“ about a robbery in a jeweller's.

I quite liked this. The stories were easy to read and enjoyable. The title story is the longest and then the others are very short. Some of them I would have liked to read more

Some stories were good, some not so much. The first (Paris For One) and the last (The Christmas List) were my favorites; although Between the Tweets wasn't bad

Juno‘s getting a good smell off this super light read that I got from the free library down the street. The main story is excellent and reminds me of my love for Paris and all the other stories were short and sweet. Great summer read and I‘ll return it to the free library so someone else can enjoy.

I absolutely adore this book and it‘s going on my favorites shelf! The first story is a novella set in Paris, and as someone who recently started learning French and is obsessed with all things Paris, it really hit the spot. The rest of the book is a short story collection, and I must say not a bad one in the bunch. The last one was my favorite. These types of books aren‘t for everyone, but I absolutely loved it. 5⭐️

Liatrek I love this one too! I hope to get back to reading it again one day 😊 6y
JenlovesJT47 @Liatrek it‘s definitely rereadable! I might get the audiobook next time! 🤗 6y

I finally got my stack together for #24in48! I have a couple of these on audio and a few others on the Kindle. I tried to select mostly shortish books I already own that I can fit into my reading challenge (Goodreads Seasonal Reading Challenge). Last I checked, there were almost 2,000 participants signed up. That‘s awesome!

I was completely prepared not to like this book. After all, my mom suggested it and she and I never read the same things. But I loved it. I liked the initial story, but it was the short stories after that I really loved. I wish there were more.

Quick read and stays true to Moyes‘ writing style. Nell is easy to love- stick with her, she can and will stand on her own two feet.

I enjoyed the main story. The writing is beautiful as expected from Moyes. The remainder of the book is short stories, slice of life kind of stuff. Not really my thing but wasn‘t bad.

A light summer read. The title story is a fun, albeit predictable, romance. The other stories are slices of modern life and relationships. I enjoyed the #audiobook version. It was nicely read. #ReadingAroundTheWorld #England

Love reading about cities I live and experiences that could be mine. I travel solo and explore solo, and rarely hesitate to do it. When you experience the world by yourself, you learn a lot about yourself. I predict Nell from this story is going to learn about herself, too.

I came across this audiobook available from the library and since I have a lot of errands to run today, it seems like the perfect accompaniment! I‘m taking my husband to Paris for his first time in (gasp) 2 weeks, before I head to Oxford. I didn‘t realize how soon until I looked at this countdown calendar I set up. I really need this vacation so this fun little book is helping amp my excitement.
