This was excellent, I can't believe it was her debut novel. Folkloric and atmospheric. Historical fiction set in Swedish Lapland in 1717. Everyone in this remote community is hiding something. The perfect winter read. 🐺❄️

This was my #FoodAndLit pick for #Sweden
It was very atmospheric, and the characters and story were interesting. The mystery was pretty good as well.
A family move to Blackensen mountain from Finland. When someone is found dead in the marshes, the mother sets out to find who did it. But the other settlers blame the wolves, and then become afraid that it is something more sinister.
1. In the tagged book they suffer a devastating blizzard … in OCTOBER 🥶
2. I like it if I‘m inside…
3. Snow Falling on Cedars

What a great read for chilly weather! This may be the strongest debut novel I‘ve laid my hands on. Blackåsen is a small, remote village hiding some big, filthy skeletons that you‘re most definitely going to want to dig up. My whole review is up on GoodReads if you‘re interested! :)
What a breath holding book at times. You worry for the main characters at times. Very well done and intriguing right to the end.
Just started this. Interesting story and love the lead character.
Hahahaha - we‘ll done @LeahBergen you‘ve guessed what‘s beside my suitcase in prep for an upcoming trip to Finnish Lapland! 🤣👍🏼🤣
I don‘t know why I like reading books set in winter during the winter but I do. And I really enjoyed this book. It wasn‘t an easy read, at least for me. I really liked Maija, a mother, a survivor and an overall take charge and do what needs to be done woman. And I get why the ending ended the way it did but that didn‘t stop me from wanting a neater now. 😀 But overall very intriguing read. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ s
First 100 pages ... suspense, threat and thrilling ... liking it as a good winter suspense and haunting 😊😊📚📚
This book gets great ratings. It was new to me when I found this quote about #yesterday for today‘s #quotsymay18. Stacked it!
I went to Barnes & Noble to get the third book in the Binti series and they had to order it. I couldn't leave empty handed...has any one read Wolf Winter?
I liked this a lot!
Within days of settling on Blackasen Mountain, Maija's daughters find a dead man. Wolves, say the other settlers. Maija thinks otherwise: but why is she so driven to endanger not only the fragile community but also her own and her daughters' lives in pursuit of the truth?
It's a dark and twisty snowbound tale with intriguing characters, all of whom keep a close watch on the secrets that bind them together and drive them apart.
He‘s about as Wolf as I am.........
This dark tale was perfect on the eve of an oncoming snow storm. 10-15” forecasted between Sun-Tues. I‘m thinking we‘ll be stuck in the house with stir crazy kids. ❄️☃️
This month's #bookclubbakes are caramelitas: layers of oatmeal cookie, chocolate, and caramel sauce. I used to make these so often, I had the recipe memorized.
Our book was fabulous! Part murder mystery, part survival story, it's full of claustrophobia and fear in the dark winter of 1717, where a murderer is among the settlers in remote northern Sweden.

This is the weather today. I live in coastal South Carolina, as far south as possible before Georgia. I feel like I'm in bizarro world! After exploring the snow, I'm curled up with the tagged book. Coincidence?
I have posted a review of this book on my blog and Instagram account.

I have had this book for 2 yrs I got it from the publisher in the mail as a surprise.. I have yet to read it but it technically is the oldest owned book on my shelves right now when I started building my books collection again. I want to read it but I have a feeling it would do better to read in winter.. help should I read it now or Wait until around October November or December to read it
In Maryland in January 2016, I spent the snowstorm reading and watching movies while my cat watched leaves blowing around outside. In Swedish Lapland in October (!) 1717, they spent the snowstorm taking turns shoveling off the porch, worrying about food, and treating a little girl for frostbite. The book is very atmospheric and a little creepy. I'm glad I read it in summer! Liked it, didn't love it. Letter E accomplished. #litsyatoz #catsoflitsy
I had various tasks today, one of which unexpectedly netted me some cookies from the Korean bakery, and now it's time to settle in for some reading! #partyofone #litsyatoz
My work lunch buddy was telling me yesterday about her recent trip to Norway. Even though she said it was unseasonably warm, some of her other descriptions of the place made me think of this book that's on my TBR list. #wolves #junetunz #litsyatoz
Cecilia Ekback is originally from Sweden 🇸🇪 but she's now a #localauthor 🇨🇦 for me (local indie bookmark included to show some love). #AprilBookShowers
Round five of our #tenatatime TBR project. This has been a success and it's so fun to pick a new pile after finishing the last one. Now I just have to decide which one to read first.
We are just getting through a major snowstorm we had last week. We tried to go for a walk but only lasted about 20 minutes because still a bit too cold. But beautiful! #outside #riotgrams @bookriot
This wonderful January read and gift from my Litsy secret santa @LeahBergen has a beautiful #deckleedge. #feistyfeb
Most of the books I own are fiction though my collection of non-fiction has been increasing over the last year. #fictionlove #17booklove @jess.how
I was really hoping to love this book. It sounded perfect for me. The chapters were short, which made the pacing good. The characters were intriguing, but there was just something that didn't totally connect. I felt like too much was held back about the characters for the sake of the mystery. I felt it hindered my ability to fully invest. It was just OK for me, but I wouldn't discourage anyone from picking it up.
Today has not started out great. My car wouldn't start, and now I'm waiting for my dad's girlfriend to come give me a boost. Hoping to finish this today. I am feeling so-so about it so far. We'll see how it concludes before I make any judgements.

Reading and watching movies with Little Man this afternoon, trying to avoid any news or FB (Canadian or American, I'm finding both depressing atm). As you can see, someone is unhappy that there is only room for one on my lap. She was glaring at me before, but has resorted to pouting. #yousnoozeyoulose #dogsoflitsy
My previous read was set in Sweden, so I've decided to stay there for my next one. This book sounds intriguing. I've got high hopes! Little Man wanted grilled cheese for lunch, and with this head cold that's hit me I didn't have the energy to make myself anything else. #lunchreads #needlotsoftea
Hot chocolate for a cold book. Bookmarks from @LeahBergen and @LibrarianRyan #readingequipment #readjanuary
So cold here in South Texas (32F)! So I'm #dreamingofawarmerclimate unlike this book. "Wolf winter...I wanted to ask about it. You know, what it is." He was silent for a long time. "It's the kind of winter that will remind us we are mortal," he said. "Mortal and alone." #readjanuary
One last post for the night from my latest read: "Then the sun came out and [the marsh water] pretended to be blue." Gorgeous sentence.
Best enjoyed in the depths of winter with a dram or two of whisky. Set in Swedish Lapland, it's amazingly evocative of the land and climate. It took me a little while to get into the story but I was soon hooked and sorry to find I'd arrived at the last page.
Just ordered 9 books from bookoutlet for $38 😁🤓😜 I waaassss trying not to buy any books, oops? 😳
A chilly, creepy read for a grey day (with a grey cat). Historical mountain murder mystery in Swedish Lapland with supernatural elements.
Not your mama's murder mystery/small town dark secrets/ghost story/survival story/historical fiction book.
I've been in a bit of a physical-book-reading-slump, here's hoping a wintry thriller in the summertime will get me back on my game.
