At Shakespeare in the Park in Edmonton waiting for the play to start. It's Merry Wives of Windsor, set in the disco era. Let's see if the time warp works!

The perfect snack for a sleepover at the Red Cross (don't worry I'm just here for training). As for the book I'm getting a head start on book club reading for January, I'm liking it so far.

Thank you Serial Reader for helping me get through this ten minutes at a time. It might not happen otherwise. #100essentialnovelsposter

MrBook It's a #slogfest for sure, lol. Everything you ever wanted to know about 19th-Century whaling 😂👍🏻. 8y
Stephtck Surprisingly @MrBook I never wanted to know much of anything about 19th-century whaling. But I'm determined that I will finish this book, although there might be a lot of skimming... 8y

Romeo and Juliet | William Shakespeare
post image

Tonight I went to see Romeo and Juliet at Bard on the Beach, where the backdrop is the sun setting over the water. It was excellent, even with the friar having to stop the show at one point due to technical difficulties. Gotta love live theatre! I find it amazing to think that this play written hundreds of years ago is still being read, studied and performed.

Abailliekaras Saw this recently, Derek Jacobi as mercutio blew me away, completely brought it to life. I agree, to sound fresh and entertaining after 400 years is amazing! 8y
Library-Belle I loved this year's Bard on the Beach version! I'm considering getting tickets to Othello as well :) 8y
Stephtck Ah yes, Bard rarely disappoints! I was thinking of going to Othello too. One of these years in going to splurge for a season pass :) 8y

This drizzly weather seams fitting for a 7k walk around the seawall listening to a mystery set in Ireland.

LauraBeth And yet that's beautiful 😀 8y
Stephtck It was beautiful! That is why I kept going :) 8y

Clearly I can't sleep so I'm catching up on the last few days of the #augustphotochallenge. Here are pink books and green books and #pinkandgreenbooks. They range from Canadian classics, to childhood favourites, to mediocre bargain table impulse buys and a reimagining of Jayne Eyre that I loved.

MrBook Nice cache! 😊👍🏻 8y

I don't have the book with me so I give you my view as I drink my morning coffee. This has to be my first adult novel although I didn't actually pick or read it myself. I must have been about ten and one of the high school girls, my brother's friend, read it to us on the bus going to and from school. I was fascinated and horrified, and couldn't wait to get to the bus and find out what happened next! #funfridayphoto @Liberty

BookBabe Awesome story and view! Where are you? ...I read the same book at about the same age. 🙌🏻 8y
Stephtck I'm visiting a lovely little bay near Comox BC for the week. It's on the East side of Vancouver Island. 8y
Stephtck And now I'm off for a walk on the beach while I listen to an audiobook. 8y
Lacythebookworm I remember watching that movie with my aunt! It was definitely my first scary movie 😳 8y

Finishing off the Lunar Chronicles while staying at the beach for the week with my brother's family. With this view and my nephew cooking me breakfast and making me coffee every day they may not get rid of me on Monday!

Lacythebookworm How did you like it? I've just started it 8y
Stephtck I'm around 3/4 in and quite enjoying it. Although it's quite a thick book it's a nice fast read- perfect for a sunny day at the beach :) 8y
Stephtck I have had many a distraction from the adorable niece and nephew running about and requesting I go swimming/kayaking/hunting for gooey-ducks on the beach which is why I'm not done reading yet :) 8y

Five and a half hours into @24in48 listening to this audiobook. Fantasy is not a genre I've ever read much of but I picked up the first book from the staff picks section at Chapters last summer and quite enjoyed it so I was glad to see this sequel available from the library:)

I've been saving this as the perfect start to the @24in48 readathon. It's the kindle version but as you can see I have a nice and tall TBR stack of 'real' books along with a supply of tea and snacks to keep me going.
