A Series of Unfortunate Events Collection:
A Series of Unfortunate Events Collection: | Lemony Snicket
A Warning from the Publisher: Would you rather sprain your ankle, bruise your hip, and lose a toe to frostbite on the same day? Or would you rather have these accidents happen on three different days? This electronic collection of volumes 7 through 9 in A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket is the e-equivalent of having three ghastly accidents right in a row. Contained here are such unpleasantries as kidnapping, disguise, murder, paperwork, another disguise, heart-shaped balloons, false allegations, stiletto heels, a shattered crystal ball, a cryptic map, an irritating song, and quite a few more disguises, all bundled together into a continuous barrage of horror and dismay. The more sensible approach would be to read The Vile Village, The Hostile Hospital, and The Carnivorous Carnival months or even years apart from one another, so you have time to recuperate from the misery each volume offersor better yet, to turn your eyes away from Mr. Snicket's work and find an electronic experience that would cause you no distress whatsoever.

Thought I posted my #SeriesLove2023 but evidently I didn't. This is an initial rough draft, as it were, and subject to change based on my reading moods, but it's a good starting point for me. Here's to knocking out some of those series on my TBR!

TheSpineView Great list so far! Good luck! 2y

1. Not especially, though some authors are a little predictable 😅 But I try not to over think it, I like letting the story progress naturally.
2. Series of Unfortunate Events!
3. Not really a trope, but I like books written in unconventional formats!
4. Today I am grateful for library cards and coworkers that show up on time 👀

Thanks @Eggs ❤ Your turn @Blueberry 💙 #WonderousWednesday

I watched the first season of Unfortunate Events on Netflix, I‘ve never read any of the books. Is the show better if you‘ve read the books? I didn‘t feel like I HAD to watch the next episode it was more of a I guess since I don‘t know what else to watch. I‘ve heard good things about the books. Would reading them enhance my viewing experience?

Author_Chelsea_Warren_PA The books are definitely better, but the series was amazing too! 5y
tournevis I read the first three and found them hilarious. 5y

#AugustGrrrl #FamilyAffair

I found this strange edition of Lemony Snicket's novels in a secondhand bookshop in Dublin many years ago. It's the first three novels in the series.
Read it the same year and loved it. Such surreal, humourus, clever story

IamIamIam I just made the connection between the actress in this film version and Shadow's wife Laura on American Gods! Lol 7y
JazzFeathers @IamIamIam l haven't seen American Gods... though l really think l should 😊 7y
IamIamIam I didn't like the book, but after watching the show I promised to try again, but I really loved the show! It's a bit sexually graphic but if you can get past that it's really cool! 7y
diovival Really enjoyed the show. Never read the books though. 7y

Please tell me everyone around here feels the way I do about these books....? So strange but sooooo fun. Poor little Baudelaire children with their special traits and terrible Count Olaf with his relentless chase for their inheritance. And from the POV as the always pessimistic but wonderfully afable Lemony Snicket. Genius series!

monkeygirlsmama Gorgeous covers. I must say though that I've never read any of them. 7y
Libby1 I ADORE these books. Funny, clever, twisted, and surprisingly deep. Which one is your favourite? Mine is The Ersatz Elevator. 7y
Pheonixlike @monkeygirlsmama you need to read them! Cracking books 7y

Pheonixlike @Libby1 thank you! And written from such a unique perspective. I really liked book one, where it sets the parameters for the whole story. But Ersatz Elevator and Reptile Room are brilliant. I especially like Reptile Room because I really enjoyed the writing of Montgomery Montgomery 7y
leftoverjen These books are pretty much the only reason I want to have children. Just so I can read it to them 7y

monkeygirlsmama @Pheonixlike I'm going to look for the first one. I might actually have a digital copy as my sister wanted me to read them years ago and I didn't, but think I might have picked up the first with the intent to. 7y

A rain cloud certainly follows the Baudelaire children around everywhere they go. #aneeyorekindofread #aprilbookshowers

Disclaimer: I only ever read the first four or so as I'm older than the intended audience and it got pretty repetitive for me. I loved the recent Netflix adaptation! Even though it's rather anxiety inducing.

A nice children's book haul for my Little Free Libraries at the local library used book sale. 35 for $8 (plus threw in a few extra $ as donation). I depend on these book sales to help keep my libraries stocked. Kids books go like crazy! Reward was a kolache and coffee. Now to get these labeled and out into the community.

My_novel_obsession @Sara_Planz Hi Sara If I remember correctly you are somewhere in the huge Houston area. I live northeast of Houston and if you are in need of donations for your little free libraries, just let me know. I can drop off lots of books 😊📚 8y
Sara_Planz @Anovelobsession I do! On the map we are off the Westpark Tollway by George Bush Park (southwest Houston). Donations are so appreciated and I would be happy to pick them up or meet you somewhere to get them. This is so nice of you! 😄📚🎉 8y

The release of the #Netflix series has, for some unknown reason, caused me to trudge through this awful, and depressing series which I already had the misfortune of reading in my youth. The Baudelaire children, while very clever, well-read, and sharp toothed, lead the most unfortunate lives, and it truly is a displeasure to read. A more cheerful series may be a more pleasant pick.

I absolutely adored these books as a child! I thought that Netflix did an amazing job with the adaptation - so I picked the perfect time to get the flu and be confined to my home 😂.

I love these books because they're books that love books! The emphasis on vocabulary, language, and libraries is fantastic. They're clever and witty and precocious. And so much fun 😁

Donnasmiles The Netflix interpretation is spot on so far...we watched four yesterday during dreary cold day in Texas. 8y
