The seventh Will Trent novel, from the No. 1 Bestseller. Special Agent Will Trent has something to hide. Something he doesn't want Dr Sara Linton - the woman he loves - to find out. He's gone undercover in Macon, Georgia and put his life at risk. And he knows Sara will never forgive him if she discovers the truth. But when a young patrolman is shot and left for dead Sara is forced to confront the past and a woman she hoped never to see again. And without even knowing it, she becomes involved in the same case Will is working on. Soon both of their lives are in danger.

The thing that keeps me most interested in Slaughter's work is her ability to write such believable characters. I'm not just thinking about these well loved - or hated - characters, but even characters from her stand-alones still pop into my head as real people.
The way she uses them enriched the plot and further the story in ways that couldn't be done if you weren't as invested in them as she makes you feel.

Will Trent is a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent, working undercover in Macon, Georgia, posing as Bill Black, a scary ex-con who trails an air of violence wherever he goes. The cover has worked and he has caught the eye of a wiry little drug dealer who thinks he might be a useful ally. But there‘s a problem. Cut off from the support of the woman he loves, Sara Linton, Will finds his demons catching up with him.

Bk2 of August is done. Crap picture but I only have the ebook of this one. My 2nd favourite Will Trent, it brings back the OTHER mean girl in Sara‘s life, Lena Adams. The woman responsible for Jeffrey‘s death is now embroiled in Wills undercover operation so naturally, Wills life is on the line. And naturally he doesn‘t tell Sara which is the worst decision he makes. Lena & her husband Jared, Jeffrey‘s son(ick)are ambushed at home & nearly killed👇

Lizpixie And undercover GBI agent Will Trent is the unknowing lookout for the crime. A huge clusterf*ck of immense proportions ensues. Brilliant book in a brilliant series from a brilliant writer. Highly recommend. #BookspinBingo #SeriesLove2024 #BacklistReadathon #ReadAway2024 #FourFoursIn24 3mo

The 7th. Pom of the Will Trent series. Karin Slaughter has a way to take some “damaged” people and assist her readers in finding are really bad and taking other characters and helping them find some goodness deep inside. Parts of her novel are pretty vicious. Some topics could trigger negative emotions in readers. Sexual violence is present. 4.25/5

This is the seventh entry in the Will Trent series. I loved revisiting the characters that Slaughter has created. She knows how to write a good edge-of-your-seat thriller. I appreciated that this one had a little less gore and graphic violence than most of the others, even though there were still moments that were horrific. Slaughter inserts enough lighter moments and laughs to make the darkness bearable.

Bk13 of July & Bk5 of #JubilantJuly is done. The 7th Will Trent brings Lena back to the party. Slaughter really knows how to write damaged women, between Lena & Angie I spend half her books wanting to punch someone! Wills undercover, Lena ends up involved & Sara ends up hurt. Hopefully everyone learns their lesson but it‘s Karin so that‘s a big NO. 10⭐️ #BookspinBingo #SeriesLove2023

Not sure who has been going along with the show, I know some of us were perturbed. I‘ve just accepted that it‘s nothing to do with the books & enjoying it by itself. They take the odd storyline or plot device from the books. & I was so mad at first bc Will undercover as Bill Black in this book, THIS BOOK just has so many of my favorite Will Trent moments. & I knew I wasn‘t getting any of them 😂 it was a good episode, however completely unrelated

ShelleyBooksie I'm loving the TV show. 2y

This book was really intense. I swear if Will gets anymore scars he‘s going to be one big scar! On the plus side, I‘m really glad he and Sara are communicating better now and are in love. Hopefully Angie will be found and sign the divorce papers. We shall see. #SeriesLove2023 @TheSpineView @Andrew65

Wow! This one was the most intense yet in the series. Will Trent is undercover trying to track down a man known as Big Whitey. It starts off with a gruesome scene involving Lena Adams and things are action packed and brutal all the way to the end.

The story opens with two police officers being brutally attacked in their home. Macon has been seeing an increase in drugs, violence and criminals getting set free by powerful attorneys and showing other forms of advancement in their lives. Rumors of Big Whitey coming into town and creating all of this fly around. Was that why the officers were attacked. Are they the good guys or the bad guys?

This author's writing is a bit gory for my taste but the characters and storylines are so interesting that I keep reading her books. I enjoyed the short story at the end of this book (title" busted) more than the novel itself.

Karin Slaughter is an expert at plotting crime fiction! So well done. And, as always, I have so much love for Will Trent as a character. He's making his way towards the top of my favorites list.

And my usual warning: read the Grant County series before the Will Trent series! Trust me.

#MarchIntoOz #day7 #Scar Today is about scars, those you can see & those you can‘t.No one writes scarred people like Karin Slaughter. You have Sara with the scars from her rape & mental ones from seeing her husband die,Will Trent with his childhood scars,Angie with her mental scars that have twisted her inside & the worst,Lena.I‘ve never despised a character more, she likes to dig at her scars & spread the misery round, not caring who she hurts.💔🖤

After two years I finally jumped back into the Will Trent series. I love his character and this book didn't disappoint. I haven't read the Grant County series which I believe has more of Lena Adams and I'm glad I haven't. I really don't like her. Anyway, this book was full of suspense and disturbing situations. Karin Slaughter never fails to entertain me. Now it's time for The Kept Woman.

As much as I despise Lena Adams, I think that this is one of Slaughter's best books. There's a beautiful brutality to this story, a level of harsh healing that gas been necessary for these characters for a long time. This is a book that shows the worst in people, all the ways we can hurt each other, how even love can be messy and cruel. I love love loved every awful perfect page.

Lizpixie 🙌🙌🙌🙌 If you hate Lena, wait till you read her new book about Will & his horror wife, Angie. She's worse than Lena, if that's possible. 8y
[DELETED] 2232195534 I have never liked Lena, but @Lizpixie is right, Angie is a piece of work. I finally decided that she is the big contrast to Will. I loathe Angie, regardless of whatever has happened to her in her life. 8y

Just finished rereading Unseen in anticipation of receiving The Kept Woman, the new Trent/Linton book soon. When I met the author, I told her I call her the George RR Martin of crime, because she's not shy about killing main characters and shocking readers. She laughed. This book is a great example.
