I've been wanting to read this for a good while now, and I guess tonight is the night. It was available on Libby, so I said, let's go

A reread. My favorite June read though. I must confess I am not very objective here 🌶️ 🥰
Again I finished my #TitlesAndTunes book before the month even started. But I just couldn‘t stop this reread of Anthony‘s autobiography. It‘s such an honest story about his self-destructive nature. The bigger the Chili Peppers get, the lonelier he becomes and the more he tries to escape in endless, repeating drug trips. I still think I could have saved him 😉, it‘s a miracle he‘s still alive. And kicking 🥰 #SexDrugsAndRockAndRoll
🎵Scar Tissue
Whilst my friends were crushing on Timberlake, I was in love with Anthony Kiedis. His early 90s long hair 😍
A ROUGH memoir. His addictions started in his childhood & were encouraged by his drug dealing dad. It's a miracle that he's still alive. 😔
He came across as a womanising dick but I won't hold it against him, afterall my 90s Kiedis fantasies would make me a hypocrite.
AK is the perfect example of growth in a person. I'm glad he's OK now.
My friend called to my house for a coffee this morning and saw the tagged book on my coffee table, as I'm hoping to start this week, and sent me this when she left. 🤣 I absolutely screamed 🤣🤣🤣
I always find biographies interesting ! This one was good one for sure !
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 What a wild ride. Picked this up after finishing Flea‘s autobiography and really enjoyed it. There‘s a lot here—unusual childhood with his dad who sold drugs in Hollywood (Sonny Bono was his godfather?), entry into music, time with the Red Hit Chili Peppers, relationships, and lots of drug use, rehab, and relapses. A great pick if you like a rock biography!
Couldn't put a more appropriate title on a book.
Whether you like this band, or even Anthony Kiedis, you should read his story. It will open your eyes to the celebrity world a lot more, while telling you about this guy's eye-opening journey through life. 5⭐

I'll never forget the first day of high school. I arrived at Uni High and checked in with my counselor to get my class assignment. Then she dropped the bombshell.

Okay @BarbaraBB - this is for you.
You wanted to know ALL the juicy details. Brace yourself.
I met Anthony Kiedis in 1993 at the Great Western Forum during a fundraiser that the Los Angeles Kings put on.
That's it. That's my story.
I have not read his book. Maybe I'll add it to my TBR. I hear it's pretty wild.
Day 12: #3Books I‘ve reread
I‘m not much of a rereader but these are the exceptions:
▪️Scar Tissue: I keep coming back to this one. I‘ve such a ridiculous crush 🥰
▪️The Harry Potter series I‘ve read three times. Myself and with both my kids
▪️Out of Time is a Dutch book about dementia and it made me a reader. I was so moved, I had no idea a book could have that effect. Years later I reread it. It was as good as I remembered.
Dream of Californication 🎶
Not a huge RHCP fan.
Anthony tells you about his roller-coaster of a life.
How is he not dead yet, Holly shit.
He is baddess
Summary: Anthony Kiedis describes his chaotic but beautiful and artful life from the time he lived in his hometown of Michigan all the way to the early 2000s. He gives an insight to his mind and his practices, and tells all about his struggles and successes. His life is one that is lived spontaneously and lovingly.
I just found out John Frusciante is rejoining the RHCP!! For any other die hard Chili Peppers fans we know how exciting this is! So with that being said I'm putting away the book I just started to reread one of my favorites. ❤
Genre : Autobiography
Date started : 11/03/19
Date completed : 01/19/20
How did you choose this book : I have never read an autobiography before, and I am a fan of Anthony Kiedis.
Who was the protagonist; what was his/her problem and how was the problem resolved ?
#booked2019 Prompt 19- Book about addiction @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft @Cinfhen
Only at the halfway point and I‘m seriously wondering how he is still alive never mind managing to become a hugely successful musician
Well, the good news is, I still love the Chili Peppers music after reading this 😀. And I really enjoyed this book. Kiedis doesn‘t hold back and the insights he shares about his addictions are truly horrific. He comes across pretty selfish and immature and a carbon copy of his father. But, I guess that is the way he was raised and the industry/world he lives in is just like that. I didn‘t find myself disliking him though. Interesting character.
Just starting to read this very battered library copy of a book I have put off reading for years. I love the music of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I‘m always a bit hesitant to read biographies of artists. I‘m scared it will colour my view of the music I love. Let‘s see what happens with this one.
Audiobook--narrator a bit annoying, volume inconsistencies left me straining to hear one minute and bleeding from the ears the next. Also you could hear him shuffling papers.. The concept of addiction is hard to fathom as a non-addict but you dive into his world and immerse yourself in it. You cheer for him when he goes to rehab and fret at each relapse. Not for the delicate but good for fans of the band.
Current audiobook...not for delicate ears....certainly wakes me up for my morning commute!
Not all that book related but these are the matching Red Hot Chili Pepper tattoos my brother and I got together about a month ago. We went with a pepper rocking a Kiedis mustache. (His looked angry because he went all white and the artist went super deep with the ink) @Cinfhen @echalpan @TrishB @BarbaraBB
#WanderingJune My all time favorite band RHCP 🌶🖤🤘🏼💋 Anthony Kiedis is the embodiment of sex, drugs and rock and roll 🎤🎸❣️His memoir was a wild ride although it was written early 2000 so I felt like a lot of ground was not covered. Still cool to learn how this group came together in the late 70‘s/ early 80‘s while still in HS. Check out their carpool karaoke ~ it‘s hilarious and listen to some #Californication https://youtu.be/cfudXO_vzWk
Thank you so much @Cinfhen for this lovely fun #bookmail which our neighbor held for us over the weekend as we were away. Hurrah 😁 ☀️🌸
Oooh unpacking it was such a joy, I loved everything in it - the super interesting book but also lovely goodies such as a cool bookmark, chocolate & green tea in delicious flavors (how did you know I make myself drink green tea every day & am super grateful for variety?) - it really made my day!!
☺️😘👐🏼
Sex, drugs & rock n roll... and then MORE sex & MORE & MORE drugs pretty much sums up this memoir. I found it rather sad that AK grew up in such a tumultuous environment. Large parts of this memoir were infuriating as he seems to only equate women as sexual objects. Published in 2004 (😟) so lots of new material is not covered. A pick but only for RHCP fans. #NonFiction2019 #Booked2019 #Pop19
#MusicalNewYear Hope to have this book finished #AtTheEndOfTheDay
If anyone was destined for rock stardom it was Anthony Kiedis🎶😜Whoa!! What a crazy ride & I‘m still in the 80‘s! Wild journey so far 🤟🏽
Day 2. #currentlyreading - can‘t wait to get to this one for #nonfictionnovember
"Push me up against the wall

To lick your heart and taste your health 'cause"?
I love The Red Hot Chili Peppers! always have always will, i grew up to these songs and they got me through many days, so if course I want to read this book about them and about Anthony Kiedis, i predict only good things about this book , perfect summer read tunes on beer and the Red Hot Chili Peppers!?
Ugh. Self-centered. Womanizer. Ugh. Ugh. I feel even more disgusted with the "cool" father who was OK with his teenage son doing drugs in front of him and encouraging a woman friend to have sex with his son. Ugh-o all around.
1. Scar Tissue. 2. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ded, Journey, and I better stop because the list is crazy long lol. 3. Here‘s a shocker, Red Hot Chili Peppers. ? Other than that Black Label Society and Kenny Chesney. 4. Something Just Like This by The Chainsmokers. It‘s mine & my fiancés song. ? #manicmonday @JoScho
1. Tagged book
2. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Fuel, Beyonce, Wallflowers, The Honorary Title, Tom Petty and the list could go on and on
3. Beyonce and Jay Z On The Run, Foozer-Weezer and the Foo Fighters co headlined, RHCP Getaway tour in Cleveland
4. Man who made up this super hard question? 😂 it is a tough one but I am going with Scar Tissue RHCP and Truth Hurts by Lizzo
#manicmonday
Thanks for the great photo edit @Eggs 💕
My brother and I went to see RHCP twice last year on “The Getaway” tour, including a weekend flight to Cleveland. He gave me this book for my birthday last year. #music #riotgrams
So I have to be honest-I don‘t own many books anymore (my classroom library is a different situation entirely 😂). I read mostly on my Kindle and get library books regularly. There are several places in my house with a few books like this. Most of these were gifts and have sentimental value for me. There is even a Nook in the mix. I am jealous of all of your beautiful shelves filled with books! #riotgrams #shelfie
#Rocktober ❤️RHCP🙌🏻This memoir is high up on my TBR...Everyone fights some sort of demons unfortunately we never really know #DarkNecessities
Just this past year Chris Cornell & Chester Bennington took their own lives leaving so many fans and artists devastated 💔😢
Has anybody read this? Found it on my brother's dresser (didn't even know he read, but I guess having only one book doesn't make you much of a reader either though lol) and wondered if it's good enough to steal it from him for a little bit ☺️ from reading the back, it does sound pretty interesting at least
Someone on Litsy mentioned their husband read this and liked it so I thought I'd give it a shot. I really enjoyed it. We learn about Anthony's upbringing, his intro into sex and drugs, and how RHCP came to be. Anthony has always struggled with drugs and it's really surprising that he is still alive. Very interesting read.
The RHCP is my favorite band since I was 16 . Their music is part of my life , a necessity for me just like air water and food . That had been said , I didn't feel excited reading Anthony's book and I wish if he had written more of an upscale memoir about his musicianship and the greatness of the Peppers as a band beside the other stable stories of sex and drugs . But never the less I still appreciate him and respect him as musician .
Heh

@Cinfhen @Robothugs
Very obvious one 😀
I don't 'bail' on books. It's not in my nature. But I'm just not in the right frame of mind to put up with Anthony's poor choice. From a music history perspective, this book has great potential. As an entertaining read, abort.
'Sir Psycho Sexy, that is me'.
You definitely are! I guess I can combine four days in one post. All I can think of when reading #myhero, #youdrivemecrazy, #californialove and #scartissue is Anthony Kiedis! Ever since the 90s I have thought he's the sexiest man alive (especially when younger, like all of us 😉), and I love his music too. #90sinjuly
