Should I be washing dishes and painting chairs? Yes. Have I been reading this book instead? Also yes! 😂 Some mixed feelings here - comics/graphic novels aren't my usual wheelhouse. I loved the artwork and the concept, but the story itself was kind of choppy and sometimes difficult to follow. It also felt like this entire volume (6 episodes) is just one long setup, so what I really want is more to this story ASAP!
In other news - #BookSpinBingo !
I love the illustrations and the color palette in this comic. I‘m not sure about the story, but I‘m intrigued enough to want to read the next book. At times I felt there was a little too much repetitions.
The story is about Nina who knows that there is a magical world, but her family tells her that she‘s crazy. Then her sister gets kidnapped by a magical beast and Nina has to save her.
Spending the evening with comics on Hoopla and a little purring cow on my lap. 🐮
Okay @MrBook I read 4 one word titles. And two other books to fit two other of your prompts because let‘s be honest, I‘ll finish your challenge, just not in order. You know like #booked2019, #booked2018 and #booked2020
I absolutely loved the artwork and coloring in this - gorgeous! Unfortunately the story was all over the place and the main character annoyed the crap out of me... I‘d love to frame some of the pages and hang them on my wall though! I‘ll get this in the mail Friday

Look what got delivered yesterday!
I somehow missed that the main character's name is Nina (my daughter's name), so I'm really excited for this now 😁 #lmpbc @LibrarianRyan @aCleverDuck @rachelm

Absolutely gorgeous artwork and an interesting plot, but I did not enjoy the writing. It felt elementary and all over the place, which made the story feel rushed and the MC super irritating. I‘m going to give the next volume a try and hope that the writing improves.
This was a superb graphic novel. The illustrations were amazing! Basically our young blackbird is raised where people are telling her magic isn't real, but she knows otherwise. She meets a lot of strange characters including finding out secrets about her family. All in all a great story and the ending left wide open for more volumes to come.

Meh. That's how I feel about the storyline and the characters. So underwhelming. Did I miss something?
But the artwork is gorgeous. That was my favorite piece. Stunning art.
This #graphicnovel went back and forth for me. At times I was like I don‘t want to continue, but in the end it got to be more interesting and I think I‘ll continue on with the series when there are more volumes out. Highlight of the whole thing though was the cat. I love a good cat in a book.

Book 10/10 of my #bookfitnesschallenge ! Being that I hit my book goal and it‘s only week 2, I‘m going to double it and make it 20😆💪🏻! #bfc
Strong storyline and I love the illustrations in this one!

This was the first in a brand new series by Sam Humphries and Jen Bartel and it was absolutely BRILLIANT. first issues are hard because they involve a lot of set up--who are the characters? Where are we? Do we want to read more? This issue was haunting and beautiful and Bartel's art and the colors in these pages enhanced the story and the magical tone . I want more. Waiting is going to be tough. #comics
