Gosh, I love Lou so much! 😆
I'm rereading Serpent & Dove so I can continue on with the series and I'm remembering how much I loved it during my first read 🥰 so, so, so good.
This book was the best witch book I‘ve read this year. The two main characters were perfect opposites of each other, and the alternating point of views made sure the reader never gets board with who‘s telling the story. I thought the use of French felt weird and out of place. Are they an English speaking country where everyone just says occasional phrases and swears in French? Why not on say it in full sentences? 5⭐️
There are some things that can't be changed with words. Some things have to be seen. They have to be felt.
The pacing was good, the action was good, the world was interesting enough..
But the conflict is trite, the MC is the most magical person to ever have magicked, “twist” was epitome of predictable.
I LOVE enemies to lovers but I couldnt really root for these 2. Idk, this series is not for me.
More audio crafting and put up my Christmas decorations, one of the creations got a home on my tree since it came out wonkier than the other 2. I‘m at 80% on Serpent & Dove, I‘m definitely going to finish the book, but probably will not continue the series. It‘s just so preposterous. The tropes are hitting all the marks but I don‘t care for the premise.
Worked on some ornaments today (before starting on our feast) while listening to Serpent & Dove. Not 100% sure if this series is for me but the hype and the cover were calling to me. Happy Thanksgiving, Litsy! Hope your holiday season gets off to a great start 🦃♥️

I enjoyed the pace of this but something just kept taking me away. Idk if I wasn‘t a fan of her consciousness. Enemy to lovers -> witch/witch hunter romance. The magic is always a nice touch and I liked the characters but not one stood above the rest. Decent read, maybe I‘ll pick up book 2 to see if it progresses better.

Tagging…. Everyone ☺️
I don‘t know if this is a “pick” or a “so-so”. I found myself constantly taken out of the story, be it by the MC forgetting the extent of her own powers, the wrong pronunciation of French words by the two narrators, or the too-sudden romantic feelings coupled with the sexual prowess of a virgin… I liked many elements of the world building and the plot, but I don‘t know if it‘s enough because the story and the characters simply weren‘t believable.
#readingbracket2022 ! Do you think I have a type? 😂😂
My pick for Aug was amazing but not good enough to beat out This Woven Kingdom. This is getting much harder to decide as the months go on! Can‘t wait to see what the Fall brings!
An interesting take on the classic enemies to lovers trope, witch and witch hunter thrown together. It all felt a little too fast paced for me though, and I didn‘t quite buy it? Not that interested in the sequels anyway…
Oooh this had all of my favorite things: forbidden love, enemies to lovers, a great heroine and magic! 🪄 I‘m looking forward to book 2 and learning more about the King! #seriesread2022 @TheSpineView
My latest audiobook hold has come in. Not sure what to expect- fingers crossed it‘s an intriguing story
Not my usual genre but really found myself enjoying this one! I do love a witch story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved this one! Teen fantasy series are my comfort genre, and this one checked all the boxes.
The magic system in this is interesting, and the cost of using magic is steep & intricate. There were so many reveals in this one, I can‘t wait to see what she does in the next two books!
I loved her. And if I had to run, hide, and fight for that love, I would. For the rest of my life, I would.
Quick paced, romantic at times. Certainly not a load of Spice ( maybe 1 x 🌶).
Great World building and loved the themes of consent and over riding outdated traditions!
My YA section of my library probably needs to be reorganized because I want to buy the rest of this series and I need more room!! I have mixed feelings about the enemies to lovers theme, but this one was done well. I also love a strong female character!
This book played out like a movie! Absolutely loved it. Onto Blood & Honey!
Totally just read 200 pages in one sitting... This book is fantastic so far!

February is coming up- faster than I expected. I‘m picky about how I like Romance and this seemed like a super fun Intersection. Also Sorcery and Cecilia was one of the books mentioned and I really enjoyed that book.
I had fun with this book, banter was hilarious and I liked Lou. I even eventually liked romance, even though I felt it was builded up too fast.
The world was interesting & historical but I would have loved to have more scenes outside the tower. I also thought there would have been more action than there were.
This was still entertaining, fun book to read.

I have but one regret about this one….. why did I choose to read it at 2 in the morning and choose finish it after 4 in the morning, even though I work at 8!?!?!?!!??! Was it worth it? Probably. Am I exhausted now? Absolutely!
Well I was up at midnight so might as well share my #Bestof2021Swap package! Love these colors from the bookmark and scentsy. This game looks fun and I have definitely had these books on my TBR list for awhile. This was super fun @candority
Serpent & Dove is not very plot-heavy, but focused on the characters and their developing relationship and I really enjoyed it.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

3.5 ⭐️ entertaining debut by Shelby Mahurin looking forward to reading the next in the series
Keep trying to get into this one but it‘s just not grabbing me at all. Might be a dnf as it‘s due back at the library soon
Have you read this?
I thought I‘d like it more but it was just okay for me. Pacing and plot issues and at times the characters felt flat. Not bad overall, but the pieces just didn‘t come together enough to love it.
Thank you so much @MaleficentBookDragon for this wonderfully witchy package of goodies for #basicwitchswap! I can‘t wait to read all these books, and the book sleeve you made is gorgeous! Already wearing the socks and lit the candle. Happy Halloween! 🖤🔮☠️📚

I really wasn‘t expecting how much I would enjoy this book as I did. I went into reading it just to be “in the know” about this TikTok YA famous book, and with no plans to finish the trilogy. Oh, how wrong I was. Other than not being a fan of the “enemies to lovers” and “one bed” tropes found in many YA books, this one so far is an exception. The rest of the review is on my Goodreads! 👍🏻 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4297838352
I was very excited for this book. Based on the synopsis it should have been right up my alley. The writing was pretty good but the plot had major pacing issues and the story didn't become interesting until 3/4 through the book. If I hadn't already bought the rest of the series I probably wouldn't continue with it.
How cute is this booksleeve made by The Handmade Sales? 😍
I forgot to post this one! So yeah, great world building and characters! I truly enjoyed this one, fast paced and easy read.
The end of this book continues to have one of my favorite relationship moments of all time. Also, where is the BTL recording we deserve??? #yafantasy
🍃 What genre interests you most? Fantasy, historical, romance, etc.?
A: I used to love romance when I was a teenager, but now I don't read it that much. In the last five years I began to be interested in fantasy, terror and mystery.
The pavilion and park in the center of town has been completely decorated for Autumn! Pumpkins, haystacks, and cornstalks are everywhere! 😍🍁🍂🎃 Of course I had to take a picture of my current witchy read! 😁💕📚
I finally went to check out one of the libraries near where I live now and wow! What an awesome place!
I didn't check out any physical books this time, but I did get my shiny new library card, got it entered in Libby, and checked out a digital copy of Serpent & Dove.
Decided to do an audiobook. Taking this upon suggestion. Let's see how it goes.

Rereading Serpent and Dove since book 3 came out at the end of last month.

This ya fantasy was a soft pick for me. It seemed a little too predictable in places. Sometimes the characters did things that seemed out of character for them which made me feel like it was done just to move the plot along. But I did enjoy it. It kept my attention, kept me turning pages, and the world building was very good. I‘ll definitely be reading the next one!
I really enjoyed this one. I loved the world building, the characters, and the message about differences. 🥰
