Onto book 5/6 as vacation winds to a close 😭
I remember not caring much for Lagercrantz versions of the series but in fairness it's been years. I'm giving this a shot.

I just love Lisbeth Salander! She is such a badass and at this moment in time, I‘m all about cheering on a complicated badass. Another great twisty thriller, solid characters, great pacing, just escapist fun with a dark edge. And the #audio narrator is top notch.
Better than the last one although that may be because I don‘t expect Larsson‘s “voice”. The story was predictable again but then all of them are a bit predictable.
I‘m really tired of the character Mikael Blomkvist. It has little to do with the story, except that he ends up in this amazing relationship with whatever woman is connected or sort of connected to the story/mystery and he‘s so happy. Then in the next book nope she‘s gone. 🙄
I‘m going to keep going. Maybe now that I‘ve gotten through 1 of the not Larsson books I am better equipped to follow this one.
If you read The Girl in the Spiders Web, this book started out similarly and I wasn‘t too sure about it at first. But then it got extremely interesting! It takes about the continuation of genetic research after WWII in Sweden and how it lead to this very interesting plot! A research group where they are trying to find a way to create the “perfect Swede”. Very interesting!
Quite a few interesting plot twists. Even though there were three storylines playing out it flowed and connected well during the novel‘s climax.
11-19-19: My 95th finished book of 2019! #thegirlwhotakesaneyeforaneye #davidlagercrantz 👍🏼📖#️⃣9️⃣5️⃣
I was sorely disappointed in the previous book (#4) in the Millennium series. To me, it felt nothing like Stieg Larsson‘s original three, and at that time I swore I was done with the series. But I had a change of heart because I really did miss the characters of Salander & Blomkvist, and so decided to give this one (#5) a try. I was pleasantly surprised. This one was much better than the last.
It's morning time and that means it's time for @EclecticReaders #24hourreadathon. I'm currently listening to my audiobook of Red Sister while having breakfast and then hopefully I'll get this book finished today.
Current read. Still love this series!
While I enjoyed this book and found it to be a worthy addition to the Millennium series, I feel it lacked focus. Too many storylines resulted in a lack of depth for all. It definitely could have been better but was a fun read.
'"He describes it as a modern form of warfare, which intrigues me.”
“Lies as weapons.”
“Lies as a way of creating chaos and confusion. Lies as an alternative to violence.”'
“But the world had gone mad, in his opinion. Lies and stupidity were more widespread than ever before. Demagogues and psychopaths dominated the political scene, and prejudice and intolerance were poisoning everything, sometimes even penetrating the discussions within his own, otherwise sensible team.”
"He asked..., 'What about the fire the dragon is breathing?‘ I said it was the same fire that burns inside everyone who is being trampled on. The same fire that can turn us into ashes and waste, but which sometimes, if some old fool like Holger spots us, plays chess with us and talks to us and just takes an interest, can become something totally different: a force which allows us to strike back."

When your cat falls asleep with her paws on your face, you've got no choice but to keep still and read your book. #Loki #CatsOfLitsy
I think Lagencrantz (sp?) has ruined this series. If you‘re looking for a story that involves Salander & Blomkvist, eating sandwiches and good crime aspects look for another book... cause you won‘t find it in this one! (Side note; waaaay too many characters). 2/5.
I liked The Girl Who Takes An Eye For An Eye better than the previous book. This felt more like a continuation of the original trilogy.
Another great great in the continued story of Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist
#ReadingResolutions Day 23: Central to the narrative is a social scientific experiment gone wrong, #BookTwins torn apart (including Lisbeth Salander and her psycho twin), what life in prison is like, and the prevailing issue of otherness. The story remains readable. However, I found the differing timelines presented in different typography jarring and unnecessary. My full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-iNW
There were too many threads going on at once, which made it hard to follow and painfully slow for the most part. I‘m glad I persevered as the last 50 pages were better and got more exciting, but there was too much description and background and not enough action for me.
I‘ve enjoyed all of these books and I actually think the author has done a great job taking over an already wonderful series, however I feel the plot in this one lacked some of the excitement from the previous books. It wasn‘t a bad story but I felt it was just building and then it was over. I love the characters of Lisbeth and Mikael though and they shone through as always. Enjoyed it but probably didn‘t love it as much as the others.
Mostly unrelated photo of a golf shoe I bought in Minnesota. I attempted to listen to this audiobook during my drive back to Missouri a few weeks ago. Lost interest at some point. My loan expired with a couple hours left to go, but I really didn't care. Forgot I had even been reading it until I saw it on my Litsy profile.
So I was excited about the Book Haul I got today from the Library Book Sale today!!! I got some book that have been on my TBR for awhile now and I also was able to snag a few books I‘m going to give away as gifts!!! Yay!! Tomorrow is the last day and all books will be 50 cents so I may make one more stop! 🤪
Swedish meatballs for a Swedish crime/thriller novel. Even in the midst of moving, books allow me to breathe. Ommmm.
I suppose this is technically my last #VacationRead, as I started it at the airport in Montréal and finished it today while at home! I‘m thankful that I took this rainy Monday off to have a day to relax before returning to work!! ??? As for this fifth installment of the Millennium series, I think it‘s better than the fourth (I‘m a sucker for #twins!) but still lacking the sparkle of the original books and relies too heavily on telling...
And done....Definitely missing Steig Larssons writing in the last two books but still a pretty good read.
Ok Littens, do I continue with “The girl who takes an eyes for an eye” or do I choose something else. I really have no idea what I want to read!!
I got this from the library and am loving it! She is such a fascinating character Lisabeth Salander! #books #bookcovers #crimebooks #lovetoread #currentread
I enjoyed this book but it lacked the sparkle that Stieg Larsson gave to Lisbeth Salander. I know it's got to be hard to take over for an author and I think David Lagercrantz should be commended. I just would have liked to see what Larsson would have done for Salander character. The research on the study of twins was very interesting and made the plot a lot more fascinating. Can't wait for the next book to see what Lizbeth and Blomkvist are up to.
#ReadingResolutions Day 6: I am a huge fan of the Stieg Larsson novels - perfect for the #suspense prompt today and really looking forward to reading this latest book in the series. I have a feeling The Trespasser of Tana French would fit the bill too. Love the edge and noir aspect of European #suspense novelists. Both are #ReviewCopies provided by my fave book distributor. 😍📚
I honestly don‘t know why I‘m still reading this series. I guess I just feel like I‘ve already invested in them, so I might as well keep going (this is also why I‘m still watching Grey‘s Anatomy-it‘s too late to turn back now). Anyway, this book is fine-if you liked the others in the series, you‘ll enjoy this one too 🤷🏻♀️ These new books aren‘t as good as the original trilogy, but it‘s fun to check in with the characters.
My reading companion! He likes to perch on the arm of the couch and snuggle. He may be part cat. #dogsoflitsy
Starting this one, however my hold for “Column of Fire” is available at the Library, so I may put this on the back burner...
Can pick out Scandinavian noir thriller translation style now! Moves quickly and the buildup is fine;just the thing to finish off a Sunday night after late afternoon jazz. Nordic noir lite though, I feel a lot more for Wallender.
#FierceFeb Day 18: These two novels are giving me the #IThinkImParanoid vibe. Have to read both soonest!
