Girl in the Spider's Web (Movie Tie-In)
Girl in the Spider's Web (Movie Tie-In) | David Lagercrantz
Soon to be a major motion picture from Sony Pictures Entertainment. Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist return in this ripped-from-the-headlines, high-octane follow-up to Stieg Larsson's The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. Mass market movie tie-in edition. A genius hacker who has always been an outsider. A journalist with a penchant for danger. She is Lisbeth Salander, the girl with the dragon tattoo. He is Mikael Blomkvist, crusading editor of Millennium. One night, Blomkvist receives a call from a source who claims to have been given information vital to the U.S. by a young female hacker. Blomkvist, always on the lookout for a story, reaches out to Salander for help. The duo find themselves working together again--each with their own agenda. Their search for the truth leads them into an underworld of spies, cybercriminals, and government operatives willing to kill to protect their secrets.

Another massive w/e for this whirling dervish. Fri arvo drinks with the new boss, Saturday yoga class then ballet, hair appointment, friend‘s 40th birthday on a roof top over looking the city in the blazing autumn sun, a little sleep in, takeaway breaky of smoothies and banana bread on the beach, a spa and sparkling margarita followed by lunch of prawn and halloumi salad with a bottle of Pinot gris at this pub followed by another lay on the beach.

Finally jumped back into this series and I loved it as much as before! Lisbeth Salander is such a badass character! I listened on #audio and it was great! And there are 2 more finished books 😄 Let‘s add to that never ending #TBR!

This is a the fourth book in the Millennium series with author David Lagercrantz taking over. I wasn't sure what to expect given how much I had enjoyed the original books but I was thoroughly engrossed.

It's been a while since I read the originals so my memory is fuzzy but it was a thrilling read with great descriptions and the characters carrying on where they left off. Will definitely continue with the series.

Traci1 I feel like his books aren't quite as gritty as Larsson's, but I enjoyed them and am glad he continued the series. 3y
Victoria_Clyne @Traci1 I'm glad as well. I have to admit it has been years since I read the original three and can't remember enough of the details to be able to do a good comparison. 3y

Not bad. You can tell it was a different author. It didn‘t feel as in-depth and intricate as Larsson wrote. The story felt extra. It wasn‘t bad ... it‘s hard to describe. It came across as developed fanfic. It‘s plausible that it could be part of the series but it‘s clearly not written by the right author. 🤷🏻‍♀️
It was too easy to figure out the twists and the bad guys and how it would be solved.

Side question: The Outlander series. Is it worth it?

Nutmegnc I enjoyed the outlander series. It‘s pretty well written. I will say that I didn‘t not like the later books as well as the first few. 4y
CoverToCoverGirl I loved the Outlander series. I‘ve read it twice and listened to them all on audio too. Impatiently waiting for the next book. It‘s been 5+ years. 4y

Wow! I so loved this book! It‘s been about 10 years since I read the original trilogy, but I didn‘t think that mattered. Honestly, I think it helped because I couldn‘t compare the writing to the previous author.

I listened to this on audio and Simon Vance did a great job. At a certain point I couldn‘t stop listening and had to keep going. I was hooked! I did get confused at some points, lots of POV and had to figure out who‘s POV it was.

Cinfhen Great pick!! I used to love this series... 4y
Jessieleah I loved the trilogy but have always hesitated to read further because I was worried about the change in writing style. I feel more confident now giving them a try based off your review! 4y
Laughterhp @Jessieleah If you do give it a try, I hope you like it! I‘m going to try and continue onto the rest of the series now too! 4y

This worked really well as an audio book! The story was great and I didn't really mind the change of the writer either. I'm not good at judging the difference between the writers because it's been like 10 years since I read the original books. I realized how much I had missed Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander as characters! I'm definitely reading the rest of this series. 🤓

• Haven't had ANY adult reading time these past few weeks because of the little one; seemingly endless hours of nursing and keeping a baby alive is my life now 😉 I am making very slow progress with this book, but enjoying it just the same. I have to get caught up with this series, which might or might not be ongoing. It would be great if I could accomplish that goal before the end of the year!! •

What a disappointment! Good enough to stick with, but really nothing like Steig Larsson‘s original Millennium Trilogy. Lisbeth Salander is just a cardboard cutout. Mikael Blomkvist plays a bigger part, but there are so many other characters at play. We know none of them well by the end. The action is improbable and not especially captivating.

An autistic, eight-year-old boy witnesses his father‘s murder and apparently Lisbeth Salander is the only person who can keep him safe. It goes better than you‘d think it would, but only because the author doesn‘t understand autism.

First off let me say that I thought this was the first book in the series. I was wrong. That‘s a my bad. However, it was still a FANTASTIC book. I can‘t wait to dive into the rest of the series. The book is so well written. The character Lisbeth Salander should be everyone‘s favorite anti hero. This book was so well written that I would think of the scenes my mind created while I was trying to watch tv and had to get back to the book.

I read the three “Millennium” books penned by Steig Larsson as they were released. I was hesitant to continue after Larsson‘s death when David Lagercrantz took over the series. All I can say is that it was silly of me to wait until now to read this fourth book. I liked it just as much as Larsson‘s original ones. I completely forgot how good the characters are from this series. Now I can‘t wait to read number five.

I saw the trailer for this today. I'm a little perplexed about them skipping 2 whole books to continue Lisbeth's story in the Millenium series. I'm curious to know what others think. I read that they worked some points from those 2 books into this movie to help with character development, but....why skip them at all? I have seen the Swedish movie trilogy and am really disappointed that the Hollywood adaptations fizzled out and are skipping ahead.

I really enjoyed the original 3 Larsson books when I read them perhaps 8 years ago, so I resisted this book for a while, as it didn‘t seem right to me for someone else to appropriate the characters. About halfway through this, I was hooked. Good story, great pacing, and maintains the integrity of the series and the characters. I‘m glad I finally broke down.
