I would have loved this book if I read it when it was first published. I loved Lennie‘s family, the exploration of grief, and of course, Joe. I could have done without the love triangle, Toby (sorry, not sorry) and the choices Lennie made, but I enjoyed the journey.

I loved this book. Quick and easy read, yet heavy with emotion. I found that every time I put it down, I wanted to pick it up again, and I was sad to see it come to an end so quickly.
Yet having said that, the film adaptation just came out earlier this month and I watched that right after I finished the book. I wish I hadn‘t. It sort of ruined it for me. 🙁
My advice: stick with the book (as is almost always the case).

This book did some serious playing with my heart. And I absolutely loved it! Completely devoured it in two sittings. Jandy Nelson has impressed me once again

After reading Jandy Nelson‘s “I‘ll give you the sun” (multiple times) I was really excited to get my hands on this, and I must say, it was not disappointing! Really good read.

A story of a girl who suffers from the grief of losing her sister.

I loved the characters in this book and felt tied to them the whole way through. A sweet YA story full of heartache and forgiveness.

I have a 4 1/4 hour long maths exam this morning and I am reading this to distract myself! I love it so far 💙

I have a feeling that the above quote is going to stay with me for a while. Lennie is trying to find her way after her older sister dies unexpectedly. She was super close with her sister and is trying to figure out what to do with all of her feelings. When she starts to feel drawn to her sisters boyfriend and a new boy in town she doesn't know what to do. She has to find out how she is going to write her own story. This book was amazing.

A YA that was ok for a quick, light read.

This is a tough one to review. There were some really great pieces to this for processing grief. It did a good job showing through Lennon's eyes that grief isn't linear and can be a very solo endeavor. It also had some very quotable, beautiful lines. But it was a little shallow and the writing felt forced at times. I just don't think anything J.N. writes will compare to I'll Give You the Sun. Overall, I'm glad I read it and wouldn't change that.

Anyone else Google things when characters in books have certain interests that you don't know much about? The main character in this book plays the clarinet and is very talented and I realized I had no idea what a clarinet sounds like!

I started this book waaay back in 2017 😉 but it was 'a bit much' for the mood I was in. I vowed to finish what I'd began this month... boy am I glad I opted for a complete re-read. This book is all the stars in the sky 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Lyrical, raw, funny, and touching. This one is special.

I started reading this book at a relevant point having recently gone through a bereavement. In some small way it helped me deal with this. Overall a sweet book.

Oh, my heart ! Lennie loses her sister, and also herself, in this story of grief and first love. You really feel for Lennie, you feel her grief and heartbreak, but it was also lovely to see her grow and develop into the girl she's supposed to be !
