"Propelled by a local tragedy, in which an oil rig sinks in a violent storm off the coast of Newfoundland, 'February' follows the life of Helen O'Mara, widowed by the accident, as she continuously spirals from the present day back to that devastating and transformative winter that persists in her mind and heart..."--Front flap.

I read 16 books during the month of February 2023: 7 books were by #BlackAuthors; 5 for #AuthorAMonth.
Best ones:
The Poet X
The Cost of Knowing
Peach Blossom Spring
We Are Not Like Them

But I really enjoyed the books by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Attica Locke and Gloria Naylor. I‘m glad I read these 16 books. 1 box less from Once Upon A Book🙌They take space.
No bingos I made the #DoubleSpin only🤷🏽‍♀️

My final stats for #FabulousFebruary totally exceeded my goals of 4 books, 38hrs & many prompts. In the end I :
📚 Read 7 books
⏱ Read for 68hrs
# Ticked off a lot of prompts from many different challenges.
And I found a new fave author to boot! How was your #readathon?

Andrew65 7-8 hours a day. Brilliant 👏👏👏🙌🙌🥳🍾🥂🍾🥂🚀 4y
Lizpixie @Andrew65 Thank you! God knows I‘ve had nothing better to do, the garden is off limits at the moment due to horrible summer weather plus a health flare. Readings the only thing keeping me sane🙃 Thank you for hosting again🙌 4y

I'm a little late on this, thanks to being sick and packing to move, but 12 down for February. Lots of "meh" reading that month, which was disappointing given that I had been highly anticipating about half of them. Nothing wrong per se but nothing uber exciting. My faves definitely were Lowcountry Bombshell and The Fifth Avenue Artists Society. I'll do better at keeping up in March...I promise.

My February wrap up.

3 Graphic Novels/Comics: Killjoys, Hazel & ChaCha, and Snow, Glass, Apples (I am counting Hazel & ChaCha Save Christmas because I can.)

1 Romance: Roomies (seriously love everything Christina Lauren does)

1 YA Fiction: Eliza and Her Monsters

1 YA Fantasy: A Curse So Dark and Lonely (probably my favorite read of the month)

My February reading month : 26 books read and 9928 pages read.

TrishB Wow 😮 5y
Andrew65 @TrishB Helped by half-term week. 5y
CMB My “problem” is that I compose a “literary journal” for each book. Upside is that a review of such is an effective refresher of the tale, but, obviously, the downside is that this practice, plus “life,” in general, prohibits my completion rate🤨 Yet, you encourage me to plod ahead! Unfortunately, I‘m in the midst of “War and Peace,” so I‘m kinda, pardon the expression, screwed😂Truthfully, I‘m also reading a 2nd book, “The Other Alcott”😀 5y
Andrew65 @CMB That would take a lot of time. Big books is why I record pages read and not just books finished. I always judge my monthly progress based on pages read. 5y
CMB @Andrew65 That‘s a smart plan, in my humble opinion 😉 5y

YES! I finished it in last hours of Leap Day! 😂 Lol! I was sure this emotional ramble will drag to Mar. #MonthInTitle
Son calls mother with life-changing news, which sets them on respective paths of random reminiscing. Narration alternating between past & present lacked cohesion, imo.

Overthinking & random focus on vignettes of memory are no stranger to me but doesn't translate well as prose 😄

These translated titles all fit the bill.

vivastory I really need to check out Shaun Tan! 5y
GatheringBooks @vivastory i strongly suggest you begin with his “the arrival” and follow it through with his “tales from outer suburbia.” i‘ve had the privilege of being part of a panel that skype interviewed him for the asian festival of children‘s content in singapore. He was gracious, kind, thoughtful in his responses, erudite without even trying, and just a supremely talented human being. He is definitely one of Australia‘s greatest authors. (edited) 5y

Trying to make sure I read more than I buy this year and for February I bought ZERO books!! 😱 I know I will buy some this month because I have a gift card. I‘m just happy that I am not going book crazy this early in the year!

Also @Litsy I am not a fan of the new way the focus feature works for pics. 😥 maybe I‘m not understanding yet! 🤷🏻‍♀️

TheSpineView The year is still young... just saying. 🤣 BTW, gift cards don't count... by my way of thinking anyway! In seriousness, you are doing so much better than me. 6y
Litsy I don‘t think we changed anything! What are you seeing, and what‘s you‘re device? 6y
Ash.on.the.line @TheSpineView Oh I know, 😂 I‘m just proud of this month! One month at a time! I think I‘ll follow that about gift cards! 🤔😂😂 6y
See All 6 Comments
Ash.on.the.line @Litsy it used to be I could get a rectangle to show the clear view where the rest is blurred. Now instead of two lines it just lets me have one half clear and half blurred that I can move. Like above, I couldn‘t just have a clear part around just February. I couldn‘t blur the January part for some reason. That may be confusing sorry!! I use my iPhone. 6y
TheSpineView @Ash.on.the.line 😋 6y
Litsy Sorry for the trouble! I'm not quite sure I follow. Could you elaborate on how you think it's working differently now? Also, what type of device are you using? We haven't changed the code on how the photo editor works recently, so this is strange! -Loranne 6y
