Thanks @Klou for the tag!
1. That‘s me on Halloween raking some sugar maple tree leaves!
2. Gothic, not sure if that‘s really a genre, but I wasn‘t sure how else to categorize it.

Finished this #BuddyRead book.
I loved the integration of Frankenstein and its timeline into this story. Kessel focused on Mary‘s moralizing. The ending is not satisfying, but believable for this narrative. If you‘ve read Frankenstein, you know the ending, and it would seem Mary doesn‘t get an uplifting end either.
I‘m honestly a little surprised, but it turns out a book can actually be a mash-up of Pride & Prejudice and Frankenstein (two faves of mine) and also be well-written and pretty darn good!
With three narrators (Mary Bennet, Victor Frankenstein, and Frankenstein‘s creation), Kessel does a great job of somehow maintaining the feeling of both novels. I loved this book, although a girl can still wish for a better ending for poor Mary.🤷🏻♀️

Started this book; atmospheric like Frankenstein with the awkwardness of Mary from P&P.
I went to the shelf to grab 2 of these, and then noticed the other 4.
Somehow, I have all of these P&P-related books on my shelves... going to try to read some of them in October! 😂

Thank you so much, Samantha! I love every thoughtful gift in my #StaycationInTime swap box trip to England! The Elizabeth candle and the P&P ornament are so adorable, I love the old map of London, the buttons, the tea, and the whole darn snack crate from the UK! And of course the BOOKS!
Big thanks to Chrissy for organizing such a fun swap!
❤️❤️❤️
I read two books for this months #litsyatxreaderssociety prompt of #blamelitsy 😁
Both were Frankenstein homages and I actually really enjoyed them.
Frankissstein was bizarre and sharp and just so very interesting to read (or in my case, listen to - as I ended borrowing the audiobook from the library)
Pride & Prometheus was a nice revisit to P&P and Frankenstein (this focuses on Mary Bennet in her 30s) and I respect the direction it took.

Thrilled to host Therese Anne Fowler at the blog today, sharing her #read99women recommendation for this Mary Shelley/Jane Austen mashup. Can't wait for her new book A GOOD NEIGHBORHOOD! http://www.greermacallister.com/blog/2020/3/3/read99women-therese-fowler
@Susanita thanks for the tag! #litsylearn
1. I have 2 brothers. I collect Funko POPS. I have 4 tattoos. 🤔
2. I‘ll just say it...I hated The Goldfinch! 😠
3. I met the author of the tagged book, which is a mashup of Pride & Prejudice and Frankenstein, two of my faves. He also teaches at my alma mater, though I didn‘t have him as a teacher when I was there. 😊
4. I guess too cold...that way, I can pile on layers and bury myself under blankets! 🥶
This was such a good mix of two classics with a twist.
I enjoyed how Kessel was able to keep the characteristics of both novels intact while creating something of his own story within.

Perhaps there was no Lord. Perhaps he had started the world and gone away, leaving human beings to make what they would of it.

LOVED this. A retelling of Jane Austen‘s Pride and Prejudice mixed with Mary Shelley‘s Frankenstein. It‘s not gimmicky at all, and I found it to be a darkly beautiful, tragic and thought-provoking book. Totally transformed how I thought of Mary Bennet. Loved the nuanced characters.
Some things never change, even if Frankenstein and his monster come to town 😂🤧
Has anyone read this? It sounds intriguing!
I really enjoyed this blending of Pride and Prejudice and Frankenstein. I really liked Mary, I liked the Creature...Victor is a giant asshole.
Had a great time at the #LondonMeetUp and here are the two books my mother bought herself. She rarely reads!
I go to bookclub and people give me new books. It‘s kinda great. I am very much looking forward to reading these, particularly Pride and Prometheus, which is Pride & Prejudice meets Dr. Frankenstein.
Gots a long weekend to myself coming up, and I hope to read, read, read. This is my completely absurd pile of planned reads. A couple of these are probably one-sitting reads, but my ambition *definitely* outstrips my time (and my ability to sit still) here. If I knock out two or three, I'll be delighted.
An amazing blend of Frankenstein and Pride & Prejudice. Quirky and fun, but impressively maintains the heart and soul of the two classics. Highly recommend! I read that this was a thing that was happening and knew I needed to share it with the good people of Litsy, especially @CrowCAH
A love story about Lizzie‘s sister Mary Bennett and Victor von Frankenstein! Somehow I don‘t see a happy ending in the cards here...
