National Coffee Day...(today)
OK, coffee is kinda a big deal with my family 🦇💝☕💝😄☺️.
Since my last read was, Batman...🦇😊EPIC!!!!
#1 The Disreputable Dog from Garth Nix's Old Kingdom Series. Love the character, the name...not so much.
#2 The tagged book. I know, not unusual. As a fan, the title was perplexing. It should have been called something like, “the making of Batman“ or “Bruce Wayne.“ Then again, I may have never read the book...and I did enjoy the story 😉.
Found A Poster! Youthful Bruce Wayne with a tease of Batman in the background...an awesome bonus that came tucked into the back of the book!
One extra note, if I went into this believing there would be a Batman appearance at some point, I would have been disappointed and would not have appreciated this story. This truly is about Bruce Wayne before he becomes Batman. Yet, since Bruce is heroic, one could consider this as Batman in beta mode LOL.
Fast paced. A bit dark, yet, it's Gotham.
Managed not to get me down, like the latest Batman movie. Yet, it was less focused on crimes and chaos, and more on Bruce Wayne's reaction and response to these things.
Bruce Wayne's characteristics are genuine. Funny when Dianne describe Bruce as a knight, when we all know who Bruce will become.
Always liked seeing Batman and Catwoman together. Madeleine seems an interesting pairing with Bruce Wayne.
Strange, while Batman is not officially part of the story, I can feel the character lurking throughout, between the pages.
I hadn't expected that.
Perhaps because I went into this story knowing there would be no Batman appearances, I am enjoying the subtle traits that makes Bruce Wayne, Batman.
OK. This has become a whole lot darker than I expected.
It's not terribly gruesome, just...I don't know, I guess the way reality is right now makes Gotham City all the more unsettling. Dreadful.
On the upside, I feel like I'm getting to know Bruce Wayne for the first time. His personal life is something I don't believe I ever read about (in depth) before. I always kinda ignored Bruce Wayne and focused on Batman...I'm a terrible fan.
This nearly lost me at the mention of Arkham Asylum. Always pass on prison, asylum, and hospital stories. Yet, this is Gotham.
I continued.
It's interesting and sad to see Bruce Wayne's relationship with Harvey Dent (who will one day become Two-Face).
The last Batman film had gotten my spirits down about my favorite hero (not necessarily about Batman, more about Gotham vs. reality). Nice to be excited again about Batman.
This may not have magic in its storyline, yet it has a magical way of pulling me right into the pages. Very, unexpectedly, immersive.
The foundation of Bruce Wayne's character: the childhood fear of bats, the trauma he experienced, the need to better his birth city.
This is like a bridge, giving a glimpse of Bruce Wayne between the boy and the man. Like I noted, Batman wouldn't be who is without Bruce.
Time for some Bruce Wayne!
I'm not sure about this. Not really into Gotham City right now...with the real world being so very much like Gotham. Just, seemingly, without the promise of a devoted real life Batman.
Haven't read a book in awhile that doesn't have some form of magical elements...
I guess, time will tell.
Young adult Bruce Wayne?
I hadn't read what it was about.
I like Batman for, well, Batman. I can't say I would like Batman without Bruce Wayne. Batman wouldn't be who is without Bruce.
Nonetheless, it sat on my shelf until the other day. It toppled from its place. I snatched it midair, only the dust jacket slipped off.
I'd never given the book a good look over...how elegant. Rarely can I resist that symbol.
I liked characters - Bruce & Alfred especially. I also loved how dark the atmosphere was!
This had several good twists and I was even surprised. That's always a nice thing! I didn't really like romance in this book but it was okay. The ending was good!
This felt slow and it was strange. I thought this would have been more fast-pacing.

“People get bored with your grief. They want something new to talk about. So you stop bringing it up, because you don‘t want to bore anyone.“
“Can you ever truly comprehend anything about something, or someone…unless you experience it for yourself?”
Just watched The Batman and loved it! I‘m obsessed! 🖤 So naturally now I want to read some Batman books. 🦇
🎧 Number 2 in the DC Icons series. Batman is my favorite DC hero. Total guilty pleasure read! This story is written by an amazing YA author so of course I bought it. Thank you Book Outlet. Some YA tropes & Im not sure if it fits within canon but it was an enjoyable quick & easy, one shot read/listen, thank you Libby. Batman isn‘t Batman yet. He‘s 18 & just out of High School. The book ends with him meeting the new commissioner ... Gordon 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Batman gives me my first #BookSpinBingo

@TheAromaofBooks this is so much fun!
My husband is a BIG batman fan, so needless to say I've been schooled properly when it comes to the subject. I have even considered reading all the Batman comics from fist publication to date. But my funds are limited. 😉
This was a believable enough origin story for Bruce Wayne, just almost touching on Batman. There's a few elements that's different from popular origins, but overall this was an enjoyable fun adventure.

I don't know how I feel about this book. I'm enjoying it, there's tons of action and I'm a fan of Marie Lu's writing. But I feel like this has the same issue Leigh Bardugo's Wonder Woman had (although I liked that one as well) - the twist is obvious and the villain is kinda weak, in the sense that I can't connect and understand the character. At least the motivation is solid here. Well, 50 pages left, we'll see.
So, this was intense! I have all sorts of theories about Madeline and the Nightwalkers #BatmanNightwalker
“the world would always have the liars and traitors and thieves, but there were still those who were good at heart.“
This isnt Marie Lu's fault. Shes a good writer but lets be honest...BRUCE WAYNE IS BORING. Batman is interesting, his villains are interesting Bruce Wayne himself? Eh...So the book was alright, well-written, I just couldn't get into it because of Bruce.

I‘ve been enjoying the DC Icon series. This one was a little lackluster compared to the Superman and Wonder Woman, both of which were great. Next up: Catwoman!!
And the dark night will rise again.
Can‘t wait to start reading this book.
Not my favorite of the DC Icon series, but an entertaining read. Batman is my favorite and my expectations were high. I do think Lu kept true to the spirit of Batman and DC. It was fun to see cameos of faves like Dent and Gordon.

I devoured this lemon bar before I could take a pretty picture.
It's #treatyoself day. Got my hair done, took myself shopping and now lunch. I needed this alone time.
I'm not a Batman fan, but I really enjoyed this book. In fact I flew through it. Bruce Wayne is only 18 and has yet to become Batman. He's just enough good guy, tough, yet breaks the rules to see how he's going to become the Batman. Very enjoyable!

I really enjoyed this book but I didn't like it as much as I thought I would.
I love the comics. Brings back great memories of my childhood. I am really enjoying the series & look forward to reading book #3 soon.
Last book of 2018! I enjoyed this one more than Wonder Woman but I was hoping for some better villains.
In reading this one, I realized just how much of a Batman fan I am as I couldn't suppress what I already know of him in order to take this book as a reimagining or retelling.
Listening to Will Damron read this was a delight and he brought so many emotions to Bruce that helped the writing be a bit more grounded and for me, that was the real reason I enjoyed it because I was close to DNFing this more than once.

I listened to this on audiobook also and really enjoyed it. The story was gripping and I loved that it was an origin story I hadn‘t heard or seen before. Bruce Wayne is 18 and just graduating college when he ends up doing community service in Arkham asylum , where he meets a convicted murderer called Madeleine, and there‘s more to her than you initially think: of course. Loved it. 5 stars based on pure enjoyment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am not even going to attempt an October TBR. I have about 8 Libby holds that will be available soon, and this bedside stack of overdue library books. I am just going to read as much as I can!
My next read. Perfect short book for Sunday
Another great book in the DC Icons series! This book was written by Marie Lu and she never disappoints she gives her own twist and swing to Batman and I love the new origin story to the origin story! I can‘t wait to read Catwoman!
4/5🌟 Rating
I'm really enjoying this series so far. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of Catwoman!

Doing some stitching for my #FFFS match while listening to this book borrowed via #Libby. So far, so good. #AudioStitching #AudioCrafting
This was a so-so for me. Easy plot, well developed characters, but nothing amazing. It held my interest and was a quick read which is why I'm giving it 3🌟 If there had been more detail, more backstory, more about the tech side of Batman then I would have given it more. This was too much YA for me. Wonder Woman: Warbringer remains my favourite.
Matching book and baby! 😂 Started this last night, now on chapter 8. Nothing ground breaking but it's got some good, solid characters and an easy to follow plot line so far. Don't think it'll be better than Wonder Woman: Warbringer.
This book was okay, I love anything Batman related but I had a hard time getting into it, may have just been me! I do plan on reading the rest of the series, just not right away.
