marleed Thanks everyone! My attempt at tagging everyone is failing miserably, Mom and Baby were released today and both are doing great. Sparky‘s brother/sister twins went home to and hat means I won‘t be sleeping with the feet of 2 1/2 year olds on my pillow tonight! 1y
Suet624 How wonderful! Congratulations! 1y
marleed @Suet624 Thanks! Sparks is a cuddly guy. With twin siblings 21/2 yrs older he sure doesn‘t get the gentle handling of a firstborn! 1y
Suet624 Awww, that must be why I had my kids 7 years apart. My last 2 (of 4 kids) were twins so they got lots of soft cuddles. 1y
marleed @Suet624 oh, I bet a 7 yr age difference was fun. my first grandma adventure was with a set of twins. You make me wonder what it would have been like to have twins as my last adventure in Grandmahood! 1y

I'm resistant to this concept of "we're really all the same"; it's used to belittle experiences of difference / marginalization and as this book shows, uses whiteness as a default norm. Also: if we're saying having ten fingers and toes is what all babies have in common what about babies with disabilities? There is also an Inuit kid drawn with a penguin. Penguins only live in the southern hemisphere! A poor attempt at depicting different cultures.

CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian I've also learned looking at other reviews that the cover image, which features a white baby, is included inside the book but with an Asian baby. They changed the cover version of the illustration to centre whiteness!! Ugh. 3y

Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes is a fun P picture book about the similarities and differences between all children. Written by Mem Fox and illustrated by Helen Oxenbury, this would be a great P book to use as a S in your class! #LAE3414sp19

hkeiger Though there are not exact lesson plans included, Mem Fox does offer a read aloud on her website which would be a fun way to integrate this book into your classroom. https://memfox.com/books/ten-little-fingers-and-ten-little-toes/ (UDL 1.2, ESOL 17). 6y
gnewman @hkeiger you were so passionate about Mem Fox the other day! I loved how you described the book and am definitely going to read it for myself!! Thanks for sharing! 6y
kkimmelman I remember hearing you read part of this in class! It was such a cute book that kids would love. The read aloud link could work well in a classroom! 6y
DrSpalding This is a poem that you can sing! She is a wonderful author, as you know. 6y

This is one of my favorites for babies. My 11 month old loves looking at the pictures of all the babies and has started to recognize the lyrical repetition of this book. So cute!

Godmotherx5 Oh, that is one of my favorite ages. When my nieces & nephew were 11months, I smothered them with cuddles. 7y
BibliOphelia Awwwwwww...this was one of mine and my baby‘s favorites. He‘s seven in a few weeks. It goes so fast! 😢 7y

A sweet rhyming book showing babies all around the world that may live differently but all have “ten little fingers and ten little toes.” Can‘t locate our copy, but here‘s a screenshot. #novemberbythenumbers #day10
