This book was a bit harder to get into than the first one.
I still really enjoyed it! I'm looking forward to reading the third one

I gave it 70 pages but couldn‘t really get into this book as much I did the first. So for now I‘m going to send it back to the library and maybe come back for it later.

GirlNamedJesse Laini Taylor is one of my all-time-favorite authors! No one does it like her! I‘ve never seen this cover before; it‘s beautiful. I hope you enjoy it! 😊 1y
Darklunarose @GirlNamedJesse she is a good author! I fell straight into the first book so hoping the second is just as good. 1y

These gorgeous covers 😍😍

I really enjoyed this read. I mean, sure, you could drive a truck through the plot holes, but the romance elements are slightly less ridiculous in the sequel. The real accomplishment here is the gorgeous world-building, and so overall I thought that this was an improvement over Daughter of Smoke and Bone.

It's been a minute, or possibly ever since I only read one book at a time. This year I'm trying something different and I have been loving being fully immersed only in this world.
Laini Taylor has been drawing me in so completely. Karou is badass, and honestly so is Zuz. I love her characters, I love these books and 2 days after finishing the second I'm already halfway through the third.

The Library Friends for the library I work for (just one of the two library systems near me)had their huge used book sale this weekend. Today was the fill-a-bag sale where the price depends on the size of your bag. I found many books I don't need (because I already have tons I haven't read) and several I've already read and am excited to own. Also managed to find two queer books! #BookHaul #LibraryFriends #UsedBooks

1-4 Sep 2021 (audiobook)
Quite addictive. It is an interesting world built by Laini Taylor. I particularly enjoyed the foreshadowing of the apocalypse (angel v monster) to come in the final instalment of the trilogy.

This was a good read. I enjoyed book 1 more than this one but it was still enjoyable. I enjoyed having a few more new perspectives. I just felt like Karou wasn't her normal self and that kind of ruined this book for me after seeing how fierce she was in book 1. I cant wait for book 3 and hopefully we go out with a bang.

Bk2 of #FabulousFebruary & Bk9 of Feb is done. I flew through this, the 2nd in her DOSAB trilogy, though it wasn‘t quite as good as the 1st, it was still brilliant. Talk about star crossed lovers, mix that with a war between species & you have writing gold. Now jumping straight to the last book coz that ending😱 #PennyPerPage #544cents #SeriesRead2021 #StackingTheSeries #ChunksterChallenge #NerdReading2021 #FiveWordTitle #Pageathon #BookspinBingo

Was up till 5am glued to this beauty, so today is a late start to my #FabulousFebruary #readathon I was planning on switching up books but as soon as I finished DOSAB I had to keep going with the story. Already over halfway so in a few hours I‘ll probably be diving into Bk3! How‘s your Sunday looking?

P.S How stunning are these covers!!

I think I got my groove back and I'm owing it to the gorgeous little gem right here.

I listened to this before but I must have rushed through it or not been in the mood for it because I remembered next to nothing! So much going on and I can't wait to finally see how this ends ❤

Incredible. I don‘t know what to say. In my humble opinion, this is master storytelling. Beautiful, otherworldly, poetic.. I honestly don‘t have words. This is a great sequel, I was so enthralled in this world. I‘m so in love with so many of these characters and it‘s a dangerous thing for my heart. It got stomped on a few times in this one.

The second book of the trilogy may have lost a bit of the magic from the first book, but it was still lyrical and exciting and a wonderful read. The ending kept building and I couldn't wait to start the third book the minute I finished this.

This book is the second in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. It wasn't so good as the first one, mostly because Akiva and Karou were rarely together. It reminded me of the second book in the Twilight series, New Moon, where Edward and Bella were rarely together. It did allow me to start to like Ziri, another man vying for Karou's attention. I would still recommend the book. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I think I enjoyed this book more than the first one. The last third of the first book included some romance, which I usually can't handle too much of, but I see now that this was needed in order to set the scene for some of the second book.

In this book Karou feels angry and betrayed and struggles with her emotions and feelings towards Akiva and makes some questionable decisions.

⬇️

LazyOwl We see Akiva's strong bond with Hazael and Liraz tested and Akiva's battle with his own emotions in wanting to save his people and forge a different future.

Once again, this book is vivid in it's descriptions of both the Chimaera and Sepharim which makes for a fully immersive experience in Laini Taylor's world she has built in these books.

⬇️
5y
LazyOwl Both Chimaera and Sepharim struggle with their hate and the balance between what is good and right, versus justifying their actions through vengeance.

The book gains much momentum to a crescendo in it's ending that has me yearning to read the next installment of this series.
