Jeff Winston, forty-three, didn't know he was a replayer until he died and woke up twenty-five years younger in his college dorm room; he lived another life. And died again. And lived again and died again -- in a continuous twenty-five-year cycle -- each time starting from scratch at the age of eighteen to reclaim lost loves, remedy past mistakes, or make a fortune in the stock market. A novel of gripping adventure, romance, and fascinating speculation on the nature of time, Replay asks the question: "What if you could live your life over again?"

Also got a Groundhog Day style novel from the 1980s (favourite book of a friend of mine) and the book club choice finally came through! 😁💕

Spent the last six weeks finding a new apartment and moving. Stressful! But I‘m finally settled in and can get back to reading and Litsy-ing. Read this one for bookclub. I couldn‘t get past how selfish and misogynistic the main character was. I know this is partially due to the time in which the book was written, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth. That being said, the concept was kind of interesting, but not interesting enough to save it.

OMG I almost hated the main character at first. LOL I had to make it to about the 4th “replay” to even start to like him. He made several mistakes but I‘m not sure how I would react in the same situation. Yes I‘ve thought about it & I‘d hope that I would fly under the radar and do all of the things I couldn‘t cram into my first life without bringing attention to myself. I‘d say it ended up an enjoyable listen (thank you hoopla) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nute Read this awhile back. I still think about this book sometimes! 5y

Loved this (somewhat) sci-fi novel which is really light on the sci-fi. I'm not a big lover of this genre, but I really loved this one. I found this one to be easy to engage with and more believable than many sci-fi novels I've read before. Also, made me question what I would do with a second chance (or third) at life. Highly recommended 🌟

Listening to the #audiobook of this 1989 novel. It feels a tiny bit dated. (References to the 80s which are supposed to be current) I've heard amazing things about this book from a coworker whose opinion I value. It's been on my list for years and just noticed and audio edition and checked it out. 🔊

I always talk with my best friend about the foods I miss since eating healthy and when we talk about Friendly‘s Reese‘s Pieces Sundae we both sigh longingly making others look at us questionably. We are also very specific about the proper way to make it.

JoScho Great answers! Thanks for playing 😊 6y
LauraBeth While living in NYC, I met a boy who was from Long Island and he took me to his hometown to meet his parents. They took us to Friendlys - a place I‘d never heard of. And I ate that delicious sundae. And I dated him for 7 years pretty much solely for the access to Friendlys and that sundae. 6y

Today‘s #agameoffavorites allows me to talk about one of my favorite authors and one of my favorite books. Will McIntosh is perhaps my favorite modern science fiction author and probably the one I recommend most to non sci-fi fans. In an interview he list his three favorite books, one of them being one of my personal favorites Replay by Ken Grimwood. If Grimwood hadn‘t passed away I always wonder what great books he would have produced.

1. It wasn't recent, maybe a month or two ago, but while I was eating dinner in the family room, I saw an opossum on my deck. We never get opossums here in Liverpool, NY. And I wasn't able to get a picture of it.
2. A waffle, a bowl of oatmeal, some almonds, and some chamomile tea.
3. Relive your life.
4. A shoe box that has a little bit of orange.
5. Probably 5'10"/5'11"

#TBRtemptation What if you could live your life over again? That is what forty-three year old Jeff Winston experiences. In a twenty-five year cycle, Jeff lives and dies again and again. Each time he wakes up, he is his younger self-- eighteen to be exact. He also has the chance to reclaim lost loves, remedy past mistakes, or make a fortune in the stock market. So the question to ask is: would you want to live this life?

This one was fun. Sort of like Kate Atkinson's Life After Life. The writing wasn't as high quality as hers, but it was an easy read and enjoyable.
Jeff Winston dies of a heart attack at age 43, then comes back as his 18-year-old self, only to repeat the process again and again. Each time he makes different choices and must live with the consequences...or at least until he reaches age 43, where he dies, again. Thought provoking. 🤔

Wow. The thoughts that this book puts in your head while reading have me a total existential crisis. I do have some belief in past/future lives and there has been research that our DNA could contain vast amounts of information. Do we have information subconsciously that we've carried from other existences? Very cool stuff!

I just wrote a really wordy review of this book and then deleted it. I really just want to tell you all to read this book. It fascinated me. It is a fantasy and was published in 1998. It is about a man who dies at 43 and wakes up as his 18 year old self in 1963 with all of his memories from his first life. It was a wonderful book, and if I keep talking I will make you all sit down while I tell you the whole story!

BookFreakOut This sounds fascinating! 8y
