I have to admit that I wasn't really into this book at the beginning. Each book has a different writing style, so it was hard to get into, and hard to see how all these stories were going to connect. But of course it all worked in the end, it even had me tearing up.

Given my latest read, when I saw this in the rundown, usually filled with terrible books “little free library” near my work, I immediately picked it up.

Opened it up and ooooffff… the brutality! Poor Sophie! It was so heartfelt!

Maybe I‘m just too sentimental?

Although this story is my least favorite of the trilogy, it‘s still excellent. Are we doomed by our willful denial and blind hope? Will we only make changes when they are forced upon us? ⬇️

I finally read the 3rd of this remarkably imaginative trilogy + if anything can draw me into science centred fiction it is this story which is unfortunately too close to the truth of the planets future. The story ties the previous 2 together + centres on Toby + zeb as a final confrontation looms. The Crakers add a lighter side + the characters overall are engaging. I can't think of a writer so diversely brilliant who must surely be due the Nobel.

My #20in4 wrap up. I knew I wouldn‘t have as much reading time so I set my goal at 20 chapters. The MaddAddam chapters were short and I think I waited too long to finish the trilogy. I‘m lost and don‘t care to figure it out. I wanted Floralinda to be fierce and she might get there but I am bored. Silence I switched from audio to print and it‘s better. And boy are the chapters loooonnnngg in Go Tell it on the Mountain.

My #Bookspin list for January. I wasn't able to get anything done this month. Hopefully January will be better. Some of these books are books I've started earlier in the year and haven't finish. Hopefully I can finish them.

Just completed Margaret Atwood's MaddAddam trilogy on Audible. Narration was good. The 2nd one, The Year of the Flood, is my favorite. The 3rd, while its a satisfying end to the story, comes up short on believability. Overall, I recommend this series to lovers of dystopian novels and science. Its very topical and does involve a pandemic.

All them babies are getting individual grooming, thorough wiping (damp and dry), and makeover. They have, after all, traveled weeks to be in their new home. I think I will be done with this same time next year. 😭🤷🏽‍♀️ Now, we say goodbye to dust as the babies will be in an air-conditioned space 24/7, because umm, desert.

As is the case with any truly great series, I‘m sad that this story is over. Margaret Atwood is, of course, a gifted writer, and she took an ecological/climate crisis, human extinction dystopian story and elevated it to something really special. Sad, funny, heartwarming and terrifying all at once, with a great cast of characters and plenty of action. I love Toby, and I‘m going to miss her a lot.

The audiobooks are well done, too!

I‘m currently reading this gem. I have yet to read Oryx & Crake but this is the third novel I‘ve ever read by Margaret Atwood and I vow to read every book she‘s ever published. I also loved The Handmaid‘s Tale. Gotta keep my eyes open for all her titles when I go book thrift shopping 🥰

In this wonderful speculative fiction novel, Atwood creates ‘pigoons‘ - genetically engineered pigs designed to feed humans. Then of course the world ends, and the pigoons don‘t seem to be mere animals anymore.

I really liked the audio on this one. The narrator for Toby‘s voice is great & I also really liked hearing Zeb tell his & Addam‘s story. This final chapter in the trilogy does a great job of tying up loose ends while leaving just enough mystery both in the past & the future to keep my imagination roaming its paths.

While this is by no means an unknown novel, I chose it as my #underratedbook because it deserves more attention. I am a huge fan of Margaret Atwood and The Handmaid‘s Tale was always a fav, and now that Hulu and Elizabeth Moss have done such a great job with the adaptation it has just exploded. This dystopian series should be next.

Finally finished this trilogy reread! I was frustratingly stuck on the last 50 pages for too long from catching up at work since the attack. Love this trilogy, it‘s pretty dark and introspective on the future of science technology and sustainability. #MargaretAtwood #MaddAddamTrilogy

Where to even begin? I highly recommend this trilogy. Dystopian novels typically freak me out, which this one definitely did but this one seems like it could happen any day. Loved the environmental themes. Loved the characters. Zeb especially. Margaret Atwood is a genius. 🙌🏽

Zooming through this trilogy.

This has been my view for the past couple of days. My pup, Jethro, and I were attacked by a stray dog on Friday. We both received stitches (2 for him, 18 for me) and recovering. He‘s recovering significantly faster than me 🤷🏼‍♀️ I always want an excuse to just curl up with a book and I‘m grateful for the reading time but I‘m getting a bit stir crazy!!! 🤪

Ugh. I‘m so far behind with Litsy, reading and all the things that don‘t have to do with packing.
This was a nice wrap up for the series. It didn‘t leave everything tied up in a nice package but enough that I felt closure. The narrators for this series were good and kept it from bogging down. #LoveAudio #2018christyread

Meh. It tied up the loose ends and it's finished now. Oryx and Crake was good, but I wouldn't recommend the other 2. I'm sure there's a place to read a short synopsis of the trilogy somewhere online. Should've stopped after the first one and just done that, but oh well.

I'm only 70 pages in and already not a fan of this one at all. I gotta finish; it's the last of the trilogy. This is gonna be hard though... Starting to hate Zeb and Toby. I might just kinda skim some chapters, which I never do.....

Picked up Part 3 of the MaddAddam trilogy today. I'm hooked on the library! And the cover matches my water bottle.

Ok I loved Oryx and Crake. I relished the world that was built in The Year of The Flood. I couldn‘t get into this book. The survivalist hippies just didn‘t speak to me. Which considering my political and socialist beliefs is astounding. Maybe I should try again? Am I the only one?

I wasn't sure where this series was going to go but I'm happy with its last installment.

Well some parts of the book were really slow to get through because the flashbacks take a lot of speed out of the story. Also, I didn‘t really like Toby‘s development in this one. Overall it‘s still a pick, because it‘s a fitting conclusion to the series and the parts where the Crakers get told new stories are kind of hilarious.

The survivors of Crake‘s manufactured plague, humans and Crakers, band together in order to create a new civilization from the wreckage.

Though the Painballers and the Pigoons are still hovering in the shadows as an invisible menace, this final book in the trilogy is less about the plot and more about the stories that make us human.

Atwood‘s take on how we might start over if we had the chance is a thought-provoking one.

Having adored both The Handmaid‘s Tale & Alias Grace adaptations, I am incredibly excited about this news!!! We could all use a bit more Atwood in this day & age.

Was able to complete my Divergent and Oryx and Crake series and start collecting the Outlander books, which is my next big undertaking.

A trilogy that shouldn‘t be missed. Atwood‘s vision of the future is scarily realistic especially considering current events. It‘s not hard to believe that this is exactly where we‘re headed.

I really wish that Toby hadn't spent two-thirds of the book obsessing over her boyfriend's past and possibly present sex life. And the ending wasn't satisfying. But the apocalyptic world is pretty great.

I'm really wondering whether Margaret Atwood just delights in writing awful people. That would explain the fascination and discomfort I feel reading most of her books.

Best of the three. Very funny in places and a slightly weepy ending but in a good way.
