The highly anticipated sequel to the #1 NEW YORK TIMES bestselling book! Secrets have a way of getting out, especially when a diary is involved. Whatever you do, dont ask Greg Heffley how he spent his summer vacation, because he definitely doesnt want to talk about it. As Greg enters the new school year, hes eager to put the past three months behind him . . . and one event in particular. Unfortunately for Greg, his older brother, Rodrick, knows all about the incident Greg wants to keep under wraps. But secrets have a way of getting out . . . especially when a diary is involved. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules chronicles Gregs attempts to navigate the hazards of middle school, impress the girls, steer clear of the school talent show, and most important, keep his secret safe. “Never do something when someone else can do it for you” not a great lesson to teach a younger sibling hahah!

Great for kids who have older siblings. Relatable too.

…And when my son saw I finished Book #1, he promptly went and grabbed Book #2…Will Greg Heffley grow more endearing in the next tale? 🔮 I won‘t get my hopes up! 😆 💜 #raisingreaders 💜

Tamra My 15 year old still likes this series! Go figure! 2y
JackOBotts @Tamra Love that! I love that they enjoy reading. Whatever it is! It‘s slapstick and goofy and the movies seem to be decent adaptations, too. 2y

This book is awesome graphica! The different font makes it extra engaging for kids! I also would say that the plot of the book is very relatable for young readers and very humorous too!

I have a big brother and this felt believable xD I really loved how entertaining this was to read: I laughed while reading. Some pictures were really good ones.

Greg is sometimes a bit mean and tries to solve things in questionable way but it's a good thing how there are also consequences.

Another cute story. The life of Greg with his older brother. They may avoid each other, but they still care.

Date Completed: Feb 11th

How I chose this book: I just like to read these books because they keep you interested and it's a continuation of the series.

About the book: The book is about Greg and Rodrick getting all mad at each other and making each others life hard, except at the end when Greg becomes a hero.

Jeff Kinney‘s New York Times Best Selling Series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, is a great series to recruit new chapter book readers. Roderick Rules is the second book in the series and is filled with more wimpy adventures. PR students will love this humorous book and be happy to know some of these stories really happened to the author! #ucflae3414fl19

Let‘s go straight to the source for this lesson plan! The site states the benefit of student familiarity with the content then includes assignments that adhere to ESOL strategy 44.Focus on thinking skills; predict, categorize, classify, observe and report (oral-written-pictorial), sequence, summarize stories, KWL activities, SQ3R, learning logs, etc.
5y
YvetteE The book is considered an engagement tool and includes the UDL principle Support planning and strategy development (6.2). 5y
DrSpalding Much better UDL and English learner post here! I know you and your family are passionate about this series. Share that passion with your future students. 5y

Children would love these books because the person telling the story is a kid, just like they are. The pages are easy to read and the pictures / talk bubbles make the story interesting and fun.

A great sequel to the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. I also remember reading these books (and watching the movie) as a kid, and always loved them. I love the font of the text in this book, and how the pages have lines on them to look like a diary.

I never let a holiday or occasion go by without finding books for my kid. He was such a reluctant reader until I started finding books that interested him. Now, he‘s starting collections of series much to my delight. This will be his Easter haul to add to his shelves. 💙📚🐰

#lae3414sp19 The NY Best Seller “Diary of a Wimpy Kid Rodrick Rules” written and illustrated by Jeff Kinney (RF) is a comical book that is part of the series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. As a child, I loved reading these books and I read each one as they were released along with all my other classmates. (cont. in comments)

sydneydaniels For this book, I would do an IR because of all the small illustrations that go along with the story, and it would be a harder book to read in a an aloud group setting. For UDLs, I would use 7.1, 7.3 1.2. As for ESOL, I would use strategies 22 and 44. 6y
sydneydaniels As for a lesson plan, I would maybe talk to the class and have them discuss their relationship with siblings or family members and see how that relationship correlates with Greg‘s family relationships. 6y
DrSpalding Remember that only one universal design and English learner strategy are required and you must describe how they align to your resource and book. Excellent choice. The series is a must for the elementary classroom. 6y

This is the other #audiobook I finished today. I'm surprised how entertained I am by this middle grade book. The narrator does a great job at voicing the boy's sometimes droll humor. Fun, quick listen while working on correcting data entry errors(not mine lol).
