Great view while reading my book!
"Is that really it?" Dess interrupted halfway through. "We just sing better than one beastie and we get to live?"
"Yes. Does it seem barbaric to you? Sixty-seven percent of your population used that word."
"No, it makes sense to me. It's perfect."
"Why?"
Decibel shrugged. "Life is stupid and beautiful in that way."
The Wood ✔
Year One ✔
3 remaining in my stack from my recent hold extravaganza. A little over half way through Iron Gold, and cant wait to start Space Opera with my husband.
I was hesitant to continue the Red Rising saga after finishing Morningstar. I have to admit, I was disappointed with the uncreative ending Pierce Brown chose for his first trilogy, but I had been so sucked in by the rest of the books it had become one of my favorites. I was hesitant to begin the next trilogy with the introduction of 3 narrators outside of Darrow, but you got me Pierce! I am loving it all 😍
I'm not sure how to feel about the fact that all my books on hold (paper and digital) came in at once! I've been to the library every day this week, which is great; but I cant help feeling a bit overwhelmed by the task before me.
I did get to pick up my tote today for completing 3 books on the reading challenge. Last year I completed 17, I hope I can complete more this time!
My son stole my reading spot!
Heading back to Missouri from Iowa. Perfect little listen for the trip with my sleepy boys.
Road trip with my boys!
Loved it. Super easy to read and understand, with an interesting storyline. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Getting me out of my funk...
Love how quick and to the point this book is. Exactly what I need after starting and stopping so many others.
I've read two heavy books in a row and had a super rough month at work. Kevin Kwan is totally the cure I need. 🙌
"Insurrecto is a misnomer. Revolution is a dream.
The Philippine-American War is unremembered."
Beautifully written. Lyrical descriptions. Heart-wrenching. Guilt inducing.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was too exhausted to muscle through and finish this meta historical fiction last night.
"Fortunately," my son decided he needed a mid morning (3am ???) feeding today, and gifted me a second chance to knock it out.
Beautiful lessons/discussions of our journey through life, agency, impact, government efficiency, and tolerance/acceptance. Would not recommend if conventional writing styles are your jam. Would not recommend as a small, side read to be completed while multitasking through every day. Would recommend if you enjoy existentionalism or modernism. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
1. Probably pizza or leftovers. It's been a looooong week.
2. The Castle by Franz Kafka. Hopefully in the next 4 or 5 days 🤞
3. I'm banking on 2. I have a pretty involved metafictional piece on my pile next. (Insurrecto by Gina Apostol)
#fridayfun @Samplergal
1. Sci fi or dystopian fiction
2. Margaret Atwood
3. Red Rising by Pierce Brown
4. Romance and western
5. The Castle (still lol)

One of my students walked in with this book yesterday and I literally lost my mind. Twenty years ago, in 4th grade, "Amelia's Notebook" and the others the author created were my jam! #throwbackthursday
Another page of quotes filled in my bullet journal. Final quote for this page:
"Of course I'm ignorant, that remains true in all events and is extremely distressing for me, but it does have the advantage that the ignorant man dares more, so I shall gladly put up with ignorance and its undoubtedly due consequences for awhile, as long as my strength lasts." - K.

1. Friday - I get to have a pretty laid back and fun day with my students and then come home to some good time with my family.
2. The Grateful Dead is my favorite group, not sure I have one favorite musician.
3. Back to work! Nothing too exciting.
4. The Couple Next Door
#premondayvibes @pepsicola
1. St. Louis, Missouri, USA
2. I stayed in St. Cloud, France on an orchestra tour when I was 13 and it was literally the most beautiful place I've ever been.
3. The Village/The Castle, perhaps based on the town of Spindlermühle in the Czech Republic now.
4. St. Louis is famous for toasted ravioli 🍽
5. So excited to read more about what others are reading and learning on Litsy! ❤🥰

Reading this book is like reading a dream 💭
