This was a pretty unique story about a fungal infection that sort of hijacks the brains of the infected humans. It was an interesting plot with decent writing. It lagged a bit in places, but was enjoyable for the most point. Audio was pretty good.

Yet another not so great reading month. Just read my #DoubleSpin book. I know I'm posting this late!

This was interesting, but ultimately not my usual genre or something I enjoy. Also, during a pandemic was probably not the best time to read a medical thriller. But it was a book challenge prompt!

The Genius Plague is a book I DEFINITELY recommend to all science/sci-fi/medicine/ lovers.I started the audiobook last Friday and finished it by Tuesday.That‘s REALLY fast for me especially with all I have going on right now! But I couldn‘t put it down, I just had to know what was going to happen. I enjoyed the audiobook a LOT!!! @whippoorwill815 A++ on picking this book! While walking today I saw this fungus and it made me think of the book! 😂

Afternoon walk listening to my audiobook, The Genius Plague and stumbled across a Free Little Library. It‘s a beautiful spot overlooking the bay!

Ohhhh my goodness!!! I had started this but not really got to far into it and oh my its good! If you are a little bit into science or medicine or even if your not you MUST check this book out! I have a lot of driving this weekend so I really have been able to dive into the audiobook and it‘s sooooooo soooo good!!! @whippoorwill815 i have a feeling I‘m going to fly thru this a little faster than I thought! It‘s great for my science brain! 😂

Paul goes to Brazil and comes back with a fungal infection that almost kills him. But when he recouperates he has improved brain function.

Paul's brother, Neil, is a cryptologist for the NSA who uncovers a secret between governments that may have a link to Paul's erratic behavior.

Paul sees the next stage of human evolution, while Neil sees a destructive force that depletes free will. It's brother against brother.

Just spending the evening hanging out in the corner with a book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this intriguing novel about a fungus-induced apocalypse. The narrator, Neil Johns, reminded me a bit of Mark Watney from The Martian, only less curse-y and more into puzzles. A fun and thought-provoking read.

One more I managed to pick up this month. This looks like a really fascinating idea to explore.

Enjoyed it. Lots of cool concepts but he main character, while likable, was a bit annoying and oblivious at times. Kinda dumb for a genius prodigy. Also, a large ability to suspend some disbelief and accept some ridiculous improbabilities. Narrator was decent, handled the Portuguese pronunciations well but not the feel and flavor of the culture.

Finished The Wanted. Moving onto audiobook #3 of 2018, The Genius Plague. Who doesn‘t want to read about a Fungalapocalyse.
