Sorry Litsy, I‘ve really abandoned you.

We adopted our oldest daughter in January of 2020 and are expected our second amy day now. Pandemic+newborn+pregnancy have not left me with the time or mental energy to read much. But I‘m trying! Soon I‘ll be back to a life of sleepless nights and long hours glued to the rocking chair. I‘m working on my TBR now, and Majesty is my current read.

Chrissyreadit Congrats! Sounds like you are very busy! 4y

I do NOT understand the hype around this! I love contemporary romances, but this one was shallow and blah and the romance had no substance. I guess the representation of chronic illness is the big selling point?

Purrfectpages I do think the chronic illness aspect gives it more mileage than it deserves. 4y

I read “that Stanford victim”s statement probably a dozen times and was always struck by what a powerful and clear writer she was. So glad I know her name now and I look forward to seeing what she does next. (Also, Brocks dads rib-eye comment will never NOT piss me off 🙄)

Loved! I always enjoy romance novels when the characters have real issues keeping them apart, not just silly misunderstandings. This was a refreshing twist on the “marriage of convenience” trope... the main couple have already been married for years before he woos her! And the commentary on romance novels was excellent. I‘d love to see this on scene, but instead I‘ll just eagerly await the next book in the series! #romantsy

Loved this! If you like contemporary romances with feminist leading men, and couples that have actual obstacles bigger than “I have baggage!” You‘ll live this. And it‘s genuinely funny! It‘s going to be a struggle to save Book 2 to read on my road trip this weekend and not immediately like I want to! #romantsy Plus its soon to be a TV show on Starz!

I was excited excited going into this book, but I‘m bailing because the writing feels very juvenile and I agree with another reviewer that sounds like it came from AO3. The main premise seems to be “look at how LGBTQ friendly everyone is!” With little plot outside of that.

This romance wasn‘t full of cliches (a risk when you‘re a romance reader!). My husband follows ski racing and snowboarding very closely so I know a lot, and I honestly couldn‘t tell the author wasn‘t a mountain athlete herself until I read the acknowledgements! 👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾 The sex was a little tepid, but the romance was natural and organic, which I loved! Highly recommended.

Claire and Poppy are twins that grew up in the spotlight of their moms fashion and Mommy Blog. Now they‘re 17, and Claire wants a normal private life, while Poppy wants to be a star. I can‘t help but wonder if Paige and Alex Drummond (the Pioneer Woman‘s daughters) have read this. So far, it‘s a really cute YA story about the role technology plays in our relationships and self worth.

WHY CANT I STOP READING ROMANCE?!?! I‘m typically a very diverse reader, I do books from all genres (except mystery, tbh), time periods and continents. But of the 36 books I‘ve read this year, half have been romance.

Def recommend this one... yay for black and brown romance couples! And #ownvoices. I can see this one making an excellent Netflix movie. Gina Rodriguez and Michael B Jordan perhaps?

Carleneishere Update: this isn‘t what I would call a romance. The focus was on the soap opera drama surrounded the main characters, not on the romantic couple themselves. There was barely any kissing or sex, and it didn‘t end with a grand HEA. I would call this chick-lit (gross, I hate that term) rather than romance. 5y

Southern_Mel_13 That's so true! I used to teach and my first year I had 7th graders. I would (only half-jokingly) tell family and friends that 7th graders are terrible human beings, but only because they're still learning how to be decent human beings. 6y

I had THE WORST day at work. Lightning struck the museum. Which caused a lot of our computerized exhibits to go down. And our AC to go out. We had two schools bringing field trips. Both with incompetent parent chaperones. Then a third school showed up without reservations. We sweated thru our shirts so we went to the storeroom to get more. Cockroach infestation. And the AC caused a flood. And the guests were angry we didn‘t give them attention 🤬
