The Last Namsara
The Last Namsara: Iskari Book One | Kristen Ciccarelli
A gripping YA crossover series from a spectacular new voice in the genre Once there was a girl who was drawn to wicked things . . . Asha is a dragon-slayer. Reviled by the very people she's sworn to protect, she kills to atone for the terrible deed she committed as a child. One that almost destroyed her city, and left her with a terrible scar. She wears her scar with pride, but to others, her skin tells a story of devastation, of fiery deaths, of Asha's irredeemable wickedness. Only the death of Kozu, the First Dragon, will bring Asha true redemption and unite her father's fractured kingdom. But no one battles Kozu and lives, so to defeat him she will have to do some very wicked things . . .

This to me describes Asha perfectly. She is driven, determined, and impulsive. #tarottakeover

I listened to this book to & from work; it left me in a bit of a #bookhangover. I am still in awe. Pearl Mackie‘s voice drew me in; I hope I find more she‘s read. I devoured this one. The journey of emotions forced me to push through & finish as quickly as possible. In the end my tears ran down my face. I found myself so attached to the all the characters human & dragon a like. I fell in love with all of them & this story. #kirstenciccarelli

Nute Heartwarming review! I love a story where the reader really feels a connection to the character. Stacking! 5y

WOW....blown away! This gem had me mesmerized from the beginning. Asha was fierce yet flawed. She was incredible. To live your whole life thinking one thing to find it all a story made up by someone corrupt. OMG!

#adventrecommends Day 23. I loved this book. I don‘t see too many people talking about it. It‘s about dragons and a girl who slays them. Plus love that cover.

I can already tell this is gonna be what I need. I‘ve got the audiobook to go along with a physical copy to read when I‘m busy about the house sewing and decorating, and it‘s narrated by Pearl Mackie. Her voice is beautiful, and perfect for this story.

Just meh about this whole book. Didn't really care for or connect with Asha and didn't care for the romance. The world and story overall though are interesting. ⭐⭐⭐

Kristen Ciccarelli‘s debut YA fantasy (the first in a trilogy) features solid world building, plenty of action and an interesting main character who is forced to question who she is and while I am not a romance fan, the inevitable love affair is sweetly depicted and Ciccarelli puts enough spin on the usual YA tropes to ensure that there‘s enough for me to want to read the sequel.

Book 2 of 2019

I read The Last Namsara in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. I adored the cast of characters, each one perfectly developed and placed in a beautifully crafted plot. This book reminded me so much of Tamora Pierce's books which were such a big part of my childhood. I will definitely be adding the second in the series The Caged Queen to my tbr list.

Any #24in48 'thoners still trudging thru their stacks? Find any 📚 gems?
Finished reading this 🎧📙a bit earlier today! This book! There's so much going on! So much deception, betrayal, murder. But such beautiful love, too. Sibling, platonic, passionate. It's just...wow!
True, I spoiled some of twisty secrets for myself before I got 1/3 of the way thru but Ciccarelli still managed to surprise SO much! And even bring me to tears. She's a monster!😭

This was a compelling read but I find myself dragon starved.
It's mainly about her toxic engagement (points for it being treated as such) and forbidden romance, with a few dragons thrown in.
Overall I enjoyed the story I just expected it to be more dragon focused.

6/10 💫

Dragons! I've heard such great things about this book, why have I not read it yet?
It's possible I'm scared it won't live up to the hype and it'll be just another disappointing dragon book.

Nashlovesbooks Awesome pic! I liked it. It wasn‘t the best dragon book but it‘s ok. I found it a but predictable. 7y
e.c.vitoria @Nashlovesbooks Thanks 😊!! Ah ok, well I don't mind predictable as long as the writing is good. But what would you say is the best dragon book? 7y

Enjoyed this. Solid world building, great characters, and I think it works well as a stand alone - even though I believe it‘s the first in a series - which I like in a fantasy book.

InsomniacGhuleh @allthingskayla It's seriously so good. You should bump it up you TBR pile. I'm always hesitant with dragon fantasy because so often it's really lazy. But the mythos and world building of this story is absolutely stellar. I can't recommend it enough. 7y

This book was FANTASTIC. Asha is a fierce, protagonist we can all identify with. A dragon hunter who is wielded by the realm her king and father to hunt dragons who are deemed wicked, and the "old stories" that breed wickedness. Asha revels in her "wickedness" and eternal love of the old stories. But soon a twist of fate leads her on an unexpected path and she finds herself questioning everything she once believed. #yabooks #readthisnow #amazingya
