Pickpick

Max Gladstone tackles a lot (too much?) in his 6th Craft Sequence novel.

The juice of the series (besides the wonderful characters) is in the way Gladstone translates things like contract law, water rights, & student loans into his world of flying colleges and nightmare demons.

Not only does this one tackle colonization, startup culture, modern art, & SpaceX, but there is one heck of a train heist in a frozen desert made of dead gods‘ bodies!

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Read with a mix of ebook and audio. Was not a fan of the audio. 1mo

Mehso-so

This book took me SO LONG to get through, it being my #Bookspin finally pushed me to finish it. It took a long, slow time to get started, and I kept losing focus. Might have liked it more if I read it straight through. It had interesting things to say about stories and POV, but I felt it lacked subtlety in its execution. So-so, but I'm going to give the second book in the series a shot, as it focuses on a lovely side-character of the first book.

Tagged is this month's #bookspin. And here's the #bookspinbingo.

I just now noticed that Of Fire and Stars managed to sneak on there twice. Not sure what I'll do about that...maybe if I read it I'll check off 9 and let 15 be a second free space. We shall see!

We've got our #bookspin and #doublespin for the month! The numbers have decided I'm continuing my global reading challenge, and finally facing down the book that I've been “actively“ reading for the longest. I've been about a third of the way through with this book months now. Time to either finish it or officially DNF.

I rolled a 19. Kingdom of Souls it is. I love the cover art. This book has been on my nightstand and I keep getting other books to read. This is 400+ pages. Nice for winter time. Let see where this adventure leads. The gingerbread coffee is pretty good with a little sugar and French vanilla creamer 🥰 #bipoc #bipocfemalelead #bipocfantasy #fantasy #femalelead #worldbuilding

Liatrek Can‘t wait to see your review. This has been on my TBR for awhile 🙂 love the cover ❤️ 2y

June was totally my month of #audiogaming as it is the annual grindfest event for one of my games. I managed to finish the entire Shadow Campaign series which I thoroughly enjoyed. What I did not managed to do was read my BookSpin selections so that will have to carry over into July.
1 eBook
2 physical
4 audio
I also did not make any progress on my #BuriedAliveChallenge as most were library books.

Pickpick

As the conclusion of a five book arc I felt the ending was pretty satisfying. We see just how far the characters have come over the events of the story and the resolution seemed fitting. I think Jane got a little hard done by but in general I was happy with how things played out. Will definitely look for more by this author in future.
