#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Ch.6-10: things are getting more serious as a group calling themselves Cassandra blows up one of Roarke‘s buildings and targets another. They see Eve as their adversary and she has ties to the highest “capitalist” of them all. Eve is trying to stop another bombing disaster like one that happened earlier in the century. ⬇️

StayCurious She‘s distracted from the Branson murder. But we find out that the brother of the victim is abusing his wife. Who happens to be the object of affection for Peabody‘s brother Zeke. What a complicated situation! 4d

#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Ch.1-5: this one has an interesting start where Eve is called to a case where a man is dead and his lover/killer is awaiting the cops and ready to confess. At first we think this will be open and shut but it becomes more complex and there is the question of justice being served and what is the true motive. ⬇️

StayCurious Also, there is another case that Eve is reluctant to get involved in but finds herself being sucked in: one of her weasels reports that his friend was killed after making bombs for someone. This is probably linked to the creepy prologue. We also get to meet Peabody‘s adorable brother. It‘s great to see her in family mode. But is he linked to Eve‘s case? (edited) 1w
LiseWorks I love that we get to know Peabody more. I just hope her brother isn't involved in getting to Eve because that prologue was intense 1w
TheAromaofBooks @LiseWorks - It's so fun to see another facet of Peabody. I really enjoy how much she loves her family, even though she's chosen to take a path very different from theirs. But if something happens to her brother I'm going to be super upset!! 1w
StayCurious @TheAromaofBooks @LiseWorks I can see Zeke being used as a pawn in a grander scheme - he‘s sweetly naive 1w

We‘ll start out with our usual 5 chapters a week, then finish with 7 chapters for the last week. We‘ll check in this month on Nov 10,17,24 and Dec 1, the next few Sundays. Please let me know if you want to be added or removed from the main tag list.

Another great entry in the series! Eve really battled her emotions in this one, and the whole plot line was very dark and very sinister. On to the next! #InDeathLongReadalong

StayCurious Thanks so much for reading along with us! 3w

#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Sorry, I was listening to this on audiobook and I didn‘t realize there were more than 20 chapters - this is the longest in death book so far, probably because of the importance of Eve losing and regaining her badge. I enjoyed the finale of this one, it was - as usual - intense. I hope we see more of Louise in later books (I think we do but can‘t quite recall) - she‘s a good match for Eve. ⬇️

StayCurious I loved seeing the loyalty of Eve‘s group of friends in this book. They really stood by her. She can‘t deny their bond now. If I was Eve I would probably still be hurt/pissed at the NYPSD but hopefully she‘ll get past it. (edited) 4w
TheAromaofBooks I only have the two chapters left, but I have really been enjoying this one! It's quite the emotional ride, and seeing how loyal everyone is to Eve has been great. 3w
ShananigansReads I thought this book was longer than usual but I can‘t depend on my memory. I love the family/support system Eve has built for herself. 3w

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Ch.11-15: Boy, what a tough few chapters for Eve. Bowers puts up more complaints and goes to the media with wild accusations. Then she is killed and Eve is suspect # 1! Before she can get over that shock, her badge and gun are taken and she‘s suspended. This is devastating for Eve who feels like her identity is taken from her. Roarke will need to be there to help her through it even if he has to give her tough love.⬇️

StayCurious Eve has certainly pissed people off in her other cases but this killer goes for what matters to her the most. She‘s in for the fight of her life if she wants her career to survive. 1mo
LiseWorks I really loved the snow scene with Eve enjoying the snow. It was great. 1mo

ShananigansReads I don‘t condone murder but I was glad to see Bowers go. I love the support system that Eve has. 1mo
StayCurious @ShananigansReads yeah Bowers was off her rocker 1mo
Librarybelle This was a hard section to read. Thank goodness Eve has friends and family who can support her during this time. 1mo
TheAromaofBooks I get that being a cop is a huge part of Eve's identity, but it also feels like she has been a cop for long enough to understand that protocol has to be followed, regardless of personal feelings or opinions. It just seems like she would have a little more faith in the system and its ability to clear her. 1mo
StayCurious @TheAromaofBooks yeah you would think. That‘s a really good point. 1mo
